AXIAL SCX10.2 CHEROKEE KIT | Unboxing & Build Highlights

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I've had my eye on this kit for a long time! So excited to finally get the build going. In this video, I unbox the Axial SCX10.2 2000 Jeep Cherokee 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD Kit, go over differences between the kit and the ready-to-run, and share some highlights as I complete the build. I also share my plan for getting this thing ready to hit the trail (and Axialfest!!).
Note: I spent my own money on this build!

You'll need the 2-speed gear set. This is the stock one: bit.ly/2Y4NDYL Hot racing and SSD also make a 2-speed conversion set, though i think a bit pricier.

I also got the Traxxas shocks for my scx10 ii as they come highly recommended. Be aware that you will loose up travel as they are longer than the stock shocks when compressed. Also, consider centering your wheels in the wheel wells before you mount your body; I moved my body back about 4mm from the dimples and lengthened the rear links with nylon washers the same amount. A+ for your enthusiasm, but C- for no doggie this vid! Can't wait for your next update.

Finally made up my mind and going to be getting into the Scale Crawler genre so currently brushing up on your older vids, especially Axial ones like this as I’m looking to get an SCX10 kit (comparatively cheaper than buying a ready to run)…I have an idea on building RC stuff, as I’m used to pulling my existing stuff apart and customising them…but RC Crawlers seem to be like RC Drift cars….very very detailed and extremely scale…oh and fantastic fun with both upgrades and accessories lol On a side note, your vids during Axial fest a while back were brilliant - sadly we don’t get stuff like that here in the UK….yet (though at a local level clubs do have courses and fun days). Hopefully once COVID19 is over, they’ll run more and we get to see you out there having more fun 😎🙏

Can’t wait to see the final look of it! SOR has some great wraps. Flipping the shocks actually does the opposite. The piston will be in a air pocket at the top of the stroke, which would be bad. Also, the links won’t rust because they’re aluminum. The cheap rod ends and plastic pivot balls will be the first thing to fail.

@@RCGirl I got GAX0028A and GAX0029 from rcmart. They aren't necessary upgrades at all, the stock form works great, I just like how it cleans up the front end and gets rid of all that plastic, and it does provide a slightly lower LCG. Integy and Samix also make nice versions of this setup.

You really are getting into every aspect of the rc hobby. I love my scx10 but I sometimes wish I had a rock racer/crawler. I would probably think the same if I had a crawler. Lol. I seen someone fit the wrangler body fenders that are on my scx10 but they cut like a half inch off the finished end and glued them on. I don't know if I would be able to do it but this gives you something to think about. I would look at the axial dingo fenders. If they have the same fender, wheel cutout size, it should be a clean bolt on part. I am going to look into getting those wheel wells cause I go by water alot, while walking on a river trail and my gorilla tape wheel wells eventually came off. I would probably have to cut more plastic off the front cause of my wrangler body. Thanks for sharing your experience in the hobby cause I learn more about the hobby this way. :)

The TRX4 shocks are great, Specially since they have many springs available to them you can fine tune the suspension way better than ANY other shock. You should give them a try, They dont leak and They CAN out perform all "Scaler" shocks... If they were only more detailed or scaled they would be the perfect shocks.

Great video. You need a Tamiya kit in your fleet. Gotta have at least one since they're the OGs of the RC hobby. The two speed transmission is more of a gimmick than anything. I mean if it was so great you'd see all the crawler companies doing it. Just optimize your gear ratio and you should be golden. By the way the company is called STRC. I've been using their parts for years. They make some awesome aluminum and brass parts.

The only thing is I only have a 550 Redcat motor and Esc for it but it’s sat on the shelf till now. We are going to finish building it hopefully this month if the funds permit us doing so. Your video on this rig was one of the first I watched before I built it and yours came out auwsome! I think the fender kit was for the axial dingo kit, more like a land rover body or the hard body cherokee or comanche body

maam im melvin from the philippines 1 of your subscriber may i ask something, could axial scx10 2 handle 4s lipo battery?

Depends on your motor kv and esc combo and what lipo cell count they are compatible with. Typically the transmission/gears in crawlers are not meant for high speeds. If you want to run 4s, you can also change your gear ratio (swap out pinion gear) so you don't overheat your motor, but that get's beyond my expertise and advising.

This is the video I found. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lK141rxwoc22kdY.html He used a rubber o ring, but the parts tree comes with a small plastic ring that is the perfect size. I found the part because someone commented on his video that it's included as part of the parts tree (but is never mentioned anywhere!)

Yep, motor/esc, servo, receiver/transmitter, battery/charger, and paint. Or you can pick up the rtr which only requires a battery/charger
