    Thank you for doing this project. With politicians, celebrities, and multimedia trying to divide us everywhere we look this kind of positive message is vital and powerful. I wish that this was ST today where it could use its powerful and needed message of unity with diversity, and more importantly hope despite challenges.

    Cynical Cthulhu Star trek reboot 1. Massive ship appears. Captàin wants revenge against federation. Nearly destroys enterprise. Threatens the federation and destroys vulcan. Kirk and crew disable it by boarding and using its kwn technology. Red matter. Super ship destroyed. Kirk gets celebrated as a hero. 2. Supervillan kill captains wanting revenge against federation. Kirk captures him. Admiral appears in a massive ship and nearly destroys enterprise. Kirk and crew disable it by boarding and then using its own tech against it. Beaming live torpedoes onto the ship thinking it was his friends. Federation super ship destroyed. Kirk gets celebrated as a hero. 3. Enterprise actually gets destroyed by a million tiny ships essentially forming one suoer ship. Supervillan wants to destroy federation to make earth strong again. Kirk and crew disable it by boarding villans old ship, one of their new ones and disables enemy in for once a unique and pretty cool way. Kirk gets celebrated as a hero and offered promotion to admiral. Im sensing a pattern. So star trek 4. (14 if we count all films) here are my predictions. Will include. A supervillan of some kind. We have already had human and vulcan as enemies so probobly klingon. Said enemy will have a supership that will nearly destroy the enterprise. Wanting revenge against the federation. This time for attacking their homeworld, which to be fair they did. Kirk and crew will board said ship and use some techno magic to destroy it averting the crisis bringing peace to humans and klingons and kirk will be celebrated as a hero. I swear if this is what happens im gunna be pissed. How to make it better. 1. Give the enterprise a more even fight. Im tired of seing it beaten every film to show how big and bad the enemy is. 2. Do something which hasnt already been done if possible. Its all pretty dry by now

  • @danielk5780

    @danielk5780

    The issue with "cashing in" on it is the following: They could have it run it's course, but instead of releasing it on YT/freely on the internet, they could've released it for the big screen and take in all the profits. They could "buy" it and employ all the production stuff to release it on their own platforms/on the big screen. But that would require an investment by them, and they already have/had money in other projects. They could "buy" it, remove all the production stuff and hire "their" experts to finish it (on a faster time-table comparable to other "professional" products). They could "sell" a limited license to the Axanar-crew. But that would've most likely be problematic for Axanar from a financial point of view. Options one and three would probably meet resistance from the Axanar-crew, and option 2 would not be in the interest of CBS or Paramount. And aside from all of that, this project would by concurring with their other Star Trek projects. They can't have that, considering that there is already limited demand for Star Trek content, especially since the story runs directly opposed to the Klingon-War-story from Disovery. They already have enough different timelines, no need to take the risk and create another one. And sharing the market would've not helped them in any way financially. The easiest way for CBS was to kill it. I'm sorry that I have to play devils advocate here, but I just don't see a way where CBS comes out on top here from a financial point of view.

    @@danielk5780 About 20 years ago, Viacom via Pocket Books, held a contest where fans could submit their fan stories and the best were chosen to be professionally published and clearly marked as "fan fiction" in a book. CBS could have done something based on that model. Compile multiple fan works, slap it on a disc and sell it at the next Star Trek convention. Hold a whole panel around it, make a big deal. You're directly marketing it to the fans and not "confusing" the poor general audience (who someone at both Marvel Studios and DC Comics weren't informed that was an issues based on future film projects mixing universes). You're response, while typical corporate thinking, is flawed. Killing Axanar, which I think it's fair to say has shown more fan interest than STD, only served to diminish waning interest in Star Trek as an IP, not grow it. CBS has bungled this franchise for over a decade now, and despite the myriad of productions being pumped out right now, this franchise has never been weaker. You can't keep pushing away fans and not bringing in new ones who will actually care and buy T-Shirts and backpacks.

    If you're referring to his earliest scenes in Enterprise, I think he was critical of it, not because he saw it necessarily as a bad thing, but because he was worried humans would bite off more than they could chew and be swallowed by another power and he knew the Vulcans, as they were at that time, would likely stand by and let it happen with a shrug and a "Told them so.".

    If you know Star Trek history within the company, you know that Star Trek has always been Paramount's "go to" cash cow. Whenever they have a run of movies bomb at the box office and lose money, they always make another Star Trek movie to recoup their loss. Therefore, they are scared to death whenever ANYTHING threatens this franchise, including the fans, which is why this lawsuit was filed so quickly in response to Axanar. After fifty years, they haven't yet figured out that the fans are the ones funding their little enterprise (sorry for the pun). These fans expect the established quality in Star Trek to be there in the delivered product, and if it is not there, they will create it themselves. Paramount/CBS doesn't know how to deal with that.

    It's all about the almighty dollar. 90% of good art, whatever the form, is a labor of love. It usually doesn't make money and even when it does, it's just a nice, unintended side effect. The moment it becomes profit motivated, you get shit. The 10% of good art that is profit motivated always has passion behind it. James Cameron's Titanic for example. A ST movie that is only motivated by money so far as it has bills to pay, will always be better than studio productions provided trained filmmakers are leading the production.

    This is what I've been saying to deaf ears for so many years. A Star Trek feature should tell a big screen story, not be an overblown episode of a particular series of the franchise. The tale of Khan and his people on Earth. How Surak saved Vulcan society. Romulan origin and history. The mythology of Kahless done as Klingon opera. Or, as in this case, the battle of Axanar. The prime universe is rich enough with possibilities that you don't need to go into an alternate for "watchable" Trek.

    ghenulo It would lose a lot by doing that though. I love Star Trek not for the phaser fires, and Photon/Quantum torpedos but the character interactions. The lore, history, and watching characters grow and I will say I am a die hard Canon person so I never liked Enterprise because it deviated too damn far from Canon but on its own it was a fine series. I think this is what happened with the Abram movies that they were good on their own but sucked in the ST universe settings though I don't watch movies just for the eye candy type of guy either.

It has been very disappointing these last several years except for productions produced by true FANS of the show. Fans "know" what makes Star Trek special and meaningful - - they don't have to incorporate what the studio, sponsors, politicians and agenda seekers want to brain wash us with.....It's about the human spirit, emotion and condition and a hope for a better future. Thanks again.

    Gary Graham's performance is outstanding (not withstanding the variance of makeup with normal skin tone in the extreme closeup). Really, his acting is stellar! T'Lera comes off as more Romulan in personality to me than Vulcan given her facial expressions and emotional display. I hope Kim Fitzgerald can adopt greater reserve into the character, especially if she is to be someone Soval trusts. I wasn't expecting the game quality of the CGI, but it is beautiful. Just takes getting used to and greater willingness to suspend disbelief. Still, the architecture and scenery are elegant. So is the integration of characters with the scenery. There's clearly a lot of creativity behind the design of the sets and how they pair up with the CGI. I'll credit most of my enthusiasm to Gary's performance in this scene and what sounds like a really good script! Congratulations and thank you for sharing this with us!!

    Many Vulcans are still struggling to undo the actions that the Romulan Star Empire was covertly pushing for in subverting control over Vulcan from within and making them just a reflection of the Romulans. It was only thanks to the Humans of Starfleet that this ruse was exposed, along with reintroducing what the Vulcans thought was lost: the Kir'Shara that holds the recorded writings and teachings of their prophet Surak.

    Which as we have seen the Romulans have infiltrated Vulcan numerous times at different levels. And since this follows from Enterprise, they were even in the highest lever of leadership. Though we didn't see much of the Earth-Romulan war, they would prefer a weaker Federation, not necessarily a destroyed one.

    +Davide Gagliardi In a weird irony. I have greater hopes for the next Star Trek movie in the alternate timeline than the announced TV series which rumor has it back on the original timeline. The reason behind this is because there is also rumor they want to make a lot of the very same shake up and target audience changes to the upcoming series which utterly destroyed the Stargate franchise in Stargate:Universe series. I hope none of that is true --- only time will tell. Meanwhile, the JJ Universe without JJ in the big screen is making an attempt to get back to more core Trek supposedly so we shall see how that goes. First trailer is out now.
