AXALP 2021 The Greatest AvGeek Show on Earth!! Spectacular Swiss AirForce Live Firing!!

THE GREATEST AVGEEK SHOW ON EARTH: SWITZERLAND’S AXALP LIVE-FIRE DEMO
Axalp is, in my humble opinion, very likely the best air show on earth, although the Swiss Air Force will be quick to tell you that it’s not really an airshow, rather, it’s a live-fire training exercise to which the public is invited. It’s officially named Fliegerschiessen Axalp, which translates to Air Force Live Fire Axalp.
It’s an exercise that’s held on top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps, uphill from the ski town of Axalp. Attendance requires getting to Switzerland, a long drive, a bus ride that’s almost as exciting as the show itself, a chairlift ride, then a hike up the last 1,000 vertical feet.
I want to thank the Swiss Air Force for fantastic flying. we got two Day's of glorious weather but lost the last Day due to poor weather! I love your country and will return to Axalp next year. cross fingers!!

Just fyi this is how it is always done to go over and back down a mountain. You flip upside down so that the g-forces pull you into the seat - positive g's - instead of creating negative g's if you had stayed right-side-up, which push you towards the canpoy. Negative g's are apparently quite uncomfortable. Going upside down also uses the natural lift of the wings, which create lift pushing the aircraft towards the wings top, thus allowing for a tighter turn than you'd otherwise be able to accomplish going nose down against the direction of the wing's natural lift.

Quite a problematic symptom, to be frank. It's not well documented whether it affects the swiss people in a general sense, or just these wonderfully magnifcent folks at an air show.

The Swiss are badass... It's always funny that the world sees Switzerland as a peaceful and serene place with pristine dreamy alpine sceneries plus all of their specialties...And don't get me wrong they're all that but, as someone who's spent many vacations there since I was a kid, I can tell they are extremely patriotic and their military ( especially the air force ) is as good as anyone else if not better...I wouldn't mess with them...As for this demonstration I can only imagine the skill level it takes to fly supersonic jets in a country that's mostly mountainous...
@Jflonsn

Maybe, but maybe that all that they are good for, never seen them fighting for something, or someone.
@jeromewagschal9485
Жыл бұрын
@@Jflonsn That's because thank God they never had their country invaded or attacked... But history usually shows that an invasion of Switzerland would be too long, too complicated and too costly... Even the Third Reich had planned an invasion of Switzerland "Operation Tannenbaum" and decided to scrap it because of the country's mountainous landscape...And probably other things too...Such as all the secret Swiss bank accounts with Nazi gold and God knows what else... I am not Swiss but I've been there regularly since I was 4 and the one thing that always impressed me is that the people are intensely patriotic, not to mention the fact that after serving in the various branches of the military basically each Swiss citizen remains a reserve soldier until a certain age and they're required by law to keep their weapons at home... Which means that, within days, there would be several millions of people ready to fight... How do I know all that ? It's because I've been to Switzerland thousands of times since I was a kid and I have very close friends there... That said, nobody wants to go to war and I'm sure that the Swiss would rather live peacefully every day going forward...
@Jflonsn

Yea nobody can harm them, after ww3 the survivors would be the swiss people. But, they are dependent on their neighbours. They profit with no intention to give something back.
