I'm excited for all the new music! A lot of bands have been writing in lockdown. There are also going to be some very well-rehearsed new bands on the scene, new bands that have had a lot of time to practice their set before playing it out live. I think we're going to see some great new acts in the next couple of years due to this lockdown, and also a lot of new material from bands who would have otherwise not had the time to write new music.

Nice video. It’s great that you explained about how most small venues nowadays have decent PA systems and mic everything, so having a 100w amp is more because it’s just nice to have rather than essential. So many “gigging rig” videos on KZread tell young players they have to have a big rig to play pubs with, so as to be heard. Really good, honest advice here. I work as a lighting tech on large scale shows and events (outside of lockdown) and the amount of empty Marshall cabinets the backline crew load in every day just for ‘eye candy’ is amazing. I’ve even had to put fairy lights in the fake heads before, just so it looks like the valves are glowing! So many pro bands now use modelling stuff tucked away behind the walls of speakers. It’s good to see you championing it.

Don't know what a estate car is but here in America, Back in the 90's. i used to roadie for my former friends local metal band, and we had to fit 1 peavey VTM 120 Guitar head, 1 Crate GS150 1x12 combo with 12' Electrovoice Speaker, and depending at the time between 1990-1994 either 2 Carvin 4x12 speaker cabinets, 1 Carvin 4x12 and 1 Laney 4x12 speaker cabinet or 1 Carvin 4x12, 1 Peavey VTM 4x12 Speaker Cabinet, With drums consisting of 1 bass drum, 2 toms which where Tama Brand Drums, hi hats, 3 cymbal stands and cymbals, drum seat, And a Peavey Combo 1x15 bass amp, Don't remember the name of it, it's been along time the drums, bass amp and guitars were in the trunk of a old i believe it was a 78 Oldsmobile Maroon Cutlass supreme 2 door car. for quite a few gigs. until started using my parents, mercury station wagon, old chevy pickup with no power steering, I believe another vehicle as well. but i can not remember what it was but those were in 93/94 right before i had a falling out with those former friends and i quite being their unpaid roadie which i was their producer as well because they would bounce ideas for original songs and i would suggest double track this part, add a blues solo here, downtune this song, etc. But we had a falling out and went our separate ways. they broke up in 96 do to my former best friend and the rhythm and lead vocals of the band had a injury at work which got his 3 fingers of his picking hand cut off in those machines that cut rubber mats. i wont go into detail what happened there but the band broke up but that was way after i quite and had no more to do with them. So how big is an estate car. Go google Oldsmobile 78 Cutlass Supreme 2 door to see if it is as big or smaller than your Estate car.

Until I got a car accident, this is what I could fit in my Hyundai i20: • Me & my bandmate (epic 2-men band) ; • A whole drum set (22x18" & 2 toms, snare, drum throne, hardware and cymbals) ; • Two guitars & a pedalboard ; • A Victory 2x12" with a small Mesa Mark 25 head ; • A Trace Elliot 2x10" with a matching Trace Elliot AH600-12 head. I have tremendous memories from driving around with him & all of that stuff!! By the way, the band is called Let It Kill You and no, we don't really play jazz or pop as you may have guessed!!!

Lovely guitar - I am about to upgrade from a Bullet Strat (I did not know if i would stick with learning and didn't want to spend much to start) and I am pretty sure I am going down the Chapman route, I was intending on getting the V2 ML1 Modern in Black Blood Red. I am looking at playing (or attempting) rock and metal, however those roasted maple necks on the Hydrid are sweet and I could be tempted on one of those. Great content as always, and bring on the live music.

Origin 50c going for £499 clearance at Andertons, small cheap pedalboard (tuner, SD-1, tc electronic prophet delay and skysurfer reverb put it on a duck board) and a Pacifica 311h, if you already have a board built go with the chapman hybrid and the amp get a good strap (and strap locks) and a good gig bag or case.

I would also say that the Fender Mustang GTX 100 is also an exceptionally good digital amp that's the same price and comes with a footswitch also, if that is more your style. Rob and the Captain have a video comparing the two on the Andertons channel that is really good and informative. Awesome video Rob sick licks as usual, loving the hybrid but I'm started to eye up the Black Sandblasted ML1 Pro it's a sexy beast!

Thanks Alot Rob.. Now I have to buy one of those Chapman Guitars.. I actually was going to buy an American Fender Stratocaster but with what you have just said, I feel I am getting a better Guitar with more features for a lot less money than the Fender if i go with that Particular guitar that you just showed us.. The Pickups don't seem like a one trick pony like the Fender.. I think the knobs and pickup selector switch is in a way better spot also.. All that with a Flamed top, Rolled fingerboard and 18:1 tuners.. I am Super Glad that you took the time to mention the Features of this Guitar.. Rob, You are for sure the best Guitar Salesman on the entire Internet.. Stop Selling me things..LOL!!! Just kidding, I love that you take the time to explain exactly what you are getting with your Guitars.. None of the big Name companies do that with the owners presenting the product.. This adds a nice Personal touch and shows that you believe in your Product.. We can all tell by how you are genuinely so excited to show us. I would rather my money go to a few faces that I am familiar that have given me so much knowledge over the years.. Thank You Mr. Chapman once again

Sorry for this block of text, but I need a community input on a few things: I'm looking to get into guitar playing. I'm a complete beginner, but I have handled a few guitars and I did own an Epiphone SG for a while way back when I didn't know what I was doing and I sold it because I just wasn't using it. SO, my question is: I want to start learning properly and maybe getting lessons, and I love me some blues (Alvin Lee, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher,...) and I've been seriously considering getting a PRS SE Custom 24 whale blue LIMITED as it fits my budget neatly, looks stunning and is a LOT of guitar for the money (or so I hear). But I've also been considering a Chapman somewhere in that price range, and from what I've read on the internet and saw on youtube they are insane value for money. One of the guitars I've also started to consider is a Fender Dave Murray signature. I don't like single cut shapes very much and I don't really like the Les Paul, but I appreciate the amazing sound it produces (Gary Moore). I'm only looking to learn playing, I won't be gigging. Thanks

Hi Rob, Question: I've got 30 years worth of pedals, but of course with my addiction to tone comes the curiosity about MORE GEAR! I've been impressed with your reccos of the Katana, and the Bassbreakers (back with the Captain). I want a low watt amp for recording that can get that classic Mick Taylor 1972 live sound... touch sensitive sustain into feedback. Would either of those deliver? Cheers and thanks for all you do.

@@RobChappers thanks man, please do consider it! No need of 2000usd instruments, just a lefty chapman guitar will be more than enough for most of us Lefthanded guys and gals. Btw, your recent song vocals were really awesome, love to hear something hardcore, next time. ❤

Hell yes. I wish I could get one. I hate hauling my half stack around on tours. I've wanted to go down to a 2x12 for a long time. I just posted a necrophagist cover if you are bored check it out rob! You duh man!

Sadly, I do not have a collection of plague pedals. The pressing responsibilities of owning a house with a middling job.

Hi all. Can you please tell me what is wrong with this guy Rob Chapman there are lots of negative comments on Web also this particular video has 40 thumb down already . I'm fed up with vintage guitars I was always looking for stratocasters but non of them never bounded with me due to the playability, 7.25 radius volume knob on the way ect... as I love single coil neck pickup sounds I find these ml1 could be a a great choice for me as a contemporary version of the original stratocaster design. I haven't purchased yet but I'm looking for encouragement to buy a ml1 pro hybrid. What do you think people...

I literally knew everything he'd pick minus the pedalboard (it's a convenience, not a necessity) before watching and I really don't know what to make of that fact. Edit: to switcharooie, not that there was anything at all wrong with your rig, I'm ditching the pedalboard for a plank of wood. I'll go with a DSL20 combo which gives me some valve juicyness at the sacrifice of diversity (£400 w/footswitch). That Ibanez arch top 7 string andertons have at £410 because it looks cool and has 7 strings, we'll say £20 to cover cables, a strap and my plank of wood/pedalboard which leaves me with £95 after a boss TU3 so I'll buy a boss super chorus too which leaves me a fiver for a pint at the venue.

I never got the "can it gig" questions on amplifiers. Like you said 99% of cases youre miced. Wattage and amount of speakers doesnt really matter as long as it isnt a 10w 6" practise amp. I guess 4x12s are just a relict of the era where the amp carried all the sound. And nowadays nobody wants to carry them. Miced up 1x12 or some digital di stuff will make the cut.
