More about Day Geckos:
Giant Day Geckos (Phelsuma grandis)
This lizard reaches a total length of 30 centimetres (12 in). The body colour is bright green or, rarely, bluish green. A red stripe extends from the nostril to the eye. On the back there are typically red coloured dots or bars. These red markings are quite variable, and in some cases, completely absent, though the line extending from the nostril to the eye is always present. Some specimens may have small blue spots. Adult specimens may have large sacs on their necks. These are stored calcium sacks. Young individuals of the species often exhibit much more red than their parents, but as time passes, many of the markings fade, to leave those that will stay for the remainder of the gecko's life. The underside of these animals is a creamy white ranging to an eggy yellow. When stressed, the colouration darkens, rendering the whole animal a dark green, and the red markings on the face and back more orange in hue.
Gold Dust Day Gecko (Phelsuma laticauda)
This lizard belongs to the smaller day geckos, and can reach a total length of about 15-22 cm (6-9 in). The body colour is a bright green or yellowish green or rarely even blue. Typical for this day gecko are the yellow speckles on the neck and the upper back. There are three rust-coloured transverse bars on the snout and head; the upper part of the skin around the eye is blue. On the lower back there are three tapering red bars. The tail is slightly flattened. The under side is off-white.
Standing’s Day Gecko (Phelsuma standingi)
Standing’s Day Gecko is among the largest species of day geckos. It can reach a maximum total length (including tail) of 28 centimeters (11 in). The body color can be quite variable, depending on light intensity. It can be brownish grey or bright green or turquoise with grey to blue reticulated markings on its body and head. The head and tail are often turquoise. Hatchlings have a yellowish green head and typical light bands and bars on their backs.

They maybe invasive, but they truly are beautiful. I hope he continues his work with these guys and see these become popular to keep in captivity and less out their in the wild. Think a few more people need to get on board to really impact on the wild population. Interesting project.

They are awesome. Like I said in my intro, they are very underrated and I think more people should be working them.

It's a great thing what he's doing. Living in Florida for 2 years I realize how big the reptile invasive population really is. The locals too I see don't appreciate reptile keeper. Like its our fault for the mistakes of a few.

Yes that is something I really want to do. I unexpectantly obtain a Columbian tegu. I had no intention on owning them because of their reputation of being pretty aggressive. But then I saw her and saw how poorly she was care for. The original owners was planning on releasing her because they didn't want her. Now I don't want to completely blame them, though it is their fault for not researching about her. Petco do not bother with identifying proper species which was where she was from. I always enjoy your videos :)

Jacksonville sucks, don't move hear, everyone is a bad driver, the children are dumber then rocks so it would be better to homeschool your children. Also 25% of the people I've met throughout my fourteen years of living here are racists and homophobes. Yeah, it's pretty, yeah it never snows, but the people irk me.

That's a great thing. Making money by actually helping your environment(instead of just going out and removing endangered native species, which is undoubtedly how the original day geckos got here from Madagascar). They look really good too!

Just a quick question- I just recently purchased my first giant day gecko, and I was wondering how to tell there genders apart? I read about some other geckos but it seems oddly specific to the species, and maybe that’s just my own inexperience. I would be so grateful for anyone who can reply and help me out 🤙🏼

From what I know crested geckos are great to start out with, neither take up much room due to needing taller enclosures. I've had my crested for a week and I must say he's a little gem. If I were you I'd start off with a crested, easier to obtain in my area and much cheaper.

Please visit Hawaii, you may help yourself to the Day Gecko who refuses to leave my kitchen. I have many in my garden lanai but this guy will not budge from my kitchen :( The outdoor geckos will eat from your hand and love bananas. I have tried to tempt this one with fruit but nothing seems to interest it. I just want to relocate it!
