    Altogether and to buy all that equipment all at once? No, not very budget-friendly. But he probably built it up over time, started with the basics and then saved up and gradually bought more equipment. Which the guy says, it started out small and grew into the gym it is now.

  • @SebastianBrown

    @SebastianBrown

    4 жыл бұрын

    He basically converted an SML2 into a RML 390F. He just bought another SML instead of the conversion kit which is what I did. You're left with the cross member from the floor of the SML2 which is supposed to go across the top when converted to an RML-390F. It's a great idea what he did to keep the rack stable with the piece across the middle however you can't stand in the middle of the rack for squats anymore which I wouldn't want to do.

    Fahim but he can literally do everything to train for CrossFit right at his own home. He has no limitations, extremely high quality products that will last for countless years. He has everything he needs to do his most favourite activity. It is all a one time spend and he owes no money to it. With the variety of equipment he has I would say $12,000 is definitely budget! What’s that like a month or maybe a bit more if you earn less of work? I think it’s amazing

    Cameron Gray your parents might have gifted you a hefty trust fund, but the vast majority of Americans, let alone the rest of the world population, most definitely do not earn anywhere near $12k a month, and the ones that do are smart enough to not spend their entire month’s income at one time. You get a pass though because you’re 12

  • @camerongray7767

    @camerongray7767

    4 жыл бұрын

    Envee _ Ok I did my calculations a bit wrong. The upper portion of people may earn 12k a month. But I guess the lower portion may be around 6k. (Assuming you work a regular job) I live in Australia btw not America so most people in Australia are not on minimum wage.I understand that you can’t save an entire months salary at once, but even if you could put away just $1000 a month, depending on your income you can afford this gym in 1-2 years. And it would last a very long time because of the high quality. Yes I understand it is not budget if you are someone on extremely low pay. But for anyone with a half decent job I do not think it is out of reach at all, especially considering if CrossFit is your hobby. People can easily spend this on other things that are not a necessity anyway. For the extremely large range of exercises that can be performed on this gym, and the high quality top of the line equipment, a gym that can probably nearly last a decade, putting away that 1k a month for a year or two is not unreasonable are is definitely budget.

    If you have the income to own your own house with a garage you can easily put this gym together over the course of a number of years. Obviously if you go and try to get everything he has tomorrow you're going to be out some serious cash, but he talks about starting out with just a squat stand and slowly building it up over time.

    Doesn’t matter if you’re bill gates or joe dirt. Having a sand bag from rogue means you don’t have a budget gym. You have a quality gym. Both work, but there is a difference.

  • @davel3616
    @davel36164 жыл бұрын

    Great setup, but obviously not cheap. An actual budget garage gym is a ceiling-mount pull-up bar, a kettlebell, and a jump rope. That will get you really far as you save up for a bar, plates, and a rack. The argument that a gym like this is less expensive than a membership is valid. I’ve been working out in my garage for 10 years and have ~$3k worth of stuff, so that’s $25 per month. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy to come up with $3k all at once.

  • @NickSiekierski

    @NickSiekierski

    An actual budget garage gym is doing pull-ups from the crossbeams, tossing old tires around and using cinderblocks as dumbbells for $0! The problem is that "budget" has become synonymous with "cheap" when everybody's budget is different. Compared to the cost of a Crossfit membership multiplied by however many friends are also using it (he didn't mention it but I'd assume they don't all just mooch off of him but actually chip in) then its already paid for itself. I'll bet many of the guys chirping "budget LOL" in the comments are making payments on trucks they shouldn't have bought that cost a lot more than this setup.

    Spend money where it matters. Rack and bars. Plates, platforms, storage all can be bought on the cheap or made diy. Did the same thing at my garage. About $3000. Rogue Ohio Power Bar, Ohio Bar and Monster Rack were the big spend. Platforms and bar storage were DIY and some bumpers. Next big spend are calibrated kg plates and maybe a Rogue Echo bike.

    @@rosi1016555 well for one ita a very blanket statement...some coaches suck and don't teach you much or teach you JUNK. If you think you've learned everything from 1 year of box training...you close yourself off to learning from new disciplines, or learning new tools. Another great example...when they introduced bench press in a games or big comp wod...literally 90% of the reps were BS...and id be sitting there waiting to count rep 1 if inwas a judge... Another point is crossfit approaches things via 1 way mainly...example no bicep work...so many strongman and powerlifters incorporate bicep work to not have a weak spot...and help stay injury free...crossfit is 1 school of thought...and within that 1 school of thought they are all splintered...some gyms are metcon centric, other barbell or heavy work centric...also they are not big on deviating...whereas for example powerlifting in the squat tells you to play around find what works best...crossfit tends to pus high bar narrow stance...as someone who's had shoulder surgeries...no way Not saying its a bad way to spend a year...just look at it as the start of a journey
