I have two of these. You can choose to make your radio discoverable to others in the area. And you can click to search if other gmrs pros are nearby. Even if they are not in your group. GPS will show you where they are. It also can scan from two meters through 520 MHz.

GPS. I purchased the BTECH GMRS Pro A few days ago I’ve been playing around with it what I love most is complete control through my phone. I’m really happy I’ve had no problem connecting to local repeaters getting very clear signals.

Been thinking about getting into GMRS, no repeaters in my area but our amateur radio club is contemplating the idea. This looks like a very likely contender for a handheld, the (GPS) and bluetooth functions are awesome.

GPS. Yes, have had one for several months. Solid radio, decent range, bluetooth connectivity and programming simply rock. I too wish that they made a HAM version (Taking my amateur extra test next week). I think the BTECH compares pretty favorably with my Wouxun KG-935. When I go out with my buddies, they get the BTECH and I use my (MAD unlocked) FT-5DR, although, I think it might be better if we all just had the BTECH - given the location services advantages... It's hard to slag the BTECH in overall performance especially value for the money. I hope you enjoy yours!

GPS I haven’t used my GMRS PRO for much more than an off-road HT and a local scanner. I think my wife appreciates the Bluetooth a lot. Gps. I think I’m going to order this as my first GMRS. From what I’ve read, the antenna must not be removable if the radio transmits data. They simply placed a dab of glue on the antenna, which as you’ve proved, is easy to twist off. Great video, thanks.

  • @EbonySeraphim

Lovely workaround that essentially pretends like it’s built to not be removed because “glue” but in reality they meant for anyone to easily bypass the glue used. I wished more promised decisions like that which were consumer friendly

Just an update. I did get the GMRS Pro but ended up returning it. Really liked everything about it but could not get the compass to calibrate and the deal breaker was the volume settings were not linear. As you lowered the volume via the knob, the volume would lower in notches. At its lowest setting it was still too loud and then when you tried lowering it just a little, the volume would be totally off. Ended up ordering a BTech GMRS V2 instead for $100 less and absolutely love it.

@@MKF30 My property is in the mountains. As long as you are relatively (no hills between) line-of-sight you’ll connect. The trees attenuate the signal but not completely. I rarely see my wife when we are talking.

Just wondering what is in your everyday pack? Great video. Good information especially for a 67 year old newbie like myself. My concern is camping in a dense forest (New York Adirondack Park) I don’t know if any radio is effective. Be interesting to see how others feel or what they use. Thanks for the info! Oh and by the way “GPS”.

Next video. Is it ulocked how to unlock it. Antenna thing is if it has FRS. Then the put a set screw at the base of the GPS radio.

Would you recommend this device for SHTF event? Any risk of scrambling digitsl?

Can you do a video on the (GPS) equipped Anytone D878UVIIplus compared to the new BTech DMR-6x2 pro? The difference in release date may be worth a deeper dive to see what btech changed, if anything, since the anytone's plus variant came out.

GPS These radios are a little tricky to use. Not well documented, buy better than most manuals. You really need two of them to see how the features operate. The apps for iOS and Android have very different user interfaces and, some features are not available in both. All in all, they have a lot of potential and are reasonably priced. BTech offers volume pricing. Fingers crossed for a Ham radio model.

GPS.... I just ordered one of these and I am wondering if the location information protocol is the same as the Garmin Rino radios. I have a Rino120 and will try it out. It would be awesome if they did work together to show location on the maps.
