Those are spike tires. Very narrow but those are like rally tires for ice / heavy snow. Goes like on rails

GT4 is a rare sight these days, nice to see it being driven and enjoyed.

You can see how the modern cars and all the interfering electronics are confused as to what's going on and is taking power away from wheels and putting it to others, making everything behave weird, trying to straighten out based on software programming, even when you turn stuff "OFF", it's never fully off in case of what it thinks is an emergency, so you can't sue the manufacturer. Older cars are just putting the power down as intended and as the driver gives the inputs. Not a moment before or after. No buffering, just man and machine. Proper driving.

Biggest bullshit ever if you have the button to turn it off then it's off. You can feel traction control and esp very easily you would know if it couldn't turn off and normally only economy cars don't have the option to turn it off every performance car you can turn it all off.

It's not traction or stability control that is making the wheels do odd stuff on the audi, it's the programming in the computer controlled awd trying to send power to different wheels looking for grip with super limited traction. With better tires, it might do better, but the driver and awd computer are trying to accomplish different things.

The RS6 has wrong tires and size for snow and ice! Wide and low profile is totally wrong on snow and ice! Narrow and high profile tires with spikes can make any car run on ice and snow!

Vesa Salminen not if you have to Drive in snow it’s not. It’s great for motorways and wet weather but it’s not the Quattro system it used to be that’s for sure. It’s for rich idiots these days that can’t drive. Same for Range rovers. They used to be great for off-road now they never see the grass let alone off road

On low grip surface, most important thing, #1 is weight. You can outrun all powerful cars with 800kg four wheel drive 1 litre NA engine car, especially on such slow track, like this in video. Thats why old Subarus and Evos are doing well in this video as they are much lighter and also they use proper ice tires.

This just makes me feel like I'm watching a replay of people drifting at Chamonix in Gran Turismo 6.

Oh wow the amount of people blaming the cars or the drivers for "bad performance". First of all. All of them were just having fun not prolly clocking speeds on that day. Second of all. Tires mean EVERYTHING when you drive on ice. You just cannot perform anything when you drive with all season tires like the M5 and RS6 did. You need at least studded tires but prefer spiked tires on pure ice. Narrow or not if you do not have spikes or studs you are in big trouble when you want to go fast on ice.

That is a good upload. It was interesting to see how those various vehicles performed in snow. I appreciate it would have been a bit much for you to do, nonetheless, knowing what tyres each car were riding on would have been very useful to know. Type of tyre: winter/all season, spiked/chained, manufacturer..

Coming from a guy that has owned a few gc8 sti's, evo6, gt4, ect in Canada . It's about what winter tire is on the car and how much tread is left more so than anything else. There all going to death traps if you have crap tires.
