Award winning Inside outside house that camouflages with the landscape
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Artist's Retreat by architect Palinda Kannangara is a split level house with a close connection to the natural environment. The ground floor has a feeling of garden pavilions, the living and dining/studio space, without doors or windows, are settled in between gardens. This creates a feeling of living and working outdoors as the boundary between interior and exterior is erased. The upper floor is more private and secure with three bedrooms, a living space and 20 X 20 feet (7 X 7 meters) rooftop lily pond.

Has this architect and his creation, this house ever participate in an international architectural contest? The house is everything! Beautiful, functional, safe, natural...
Best Architecture I have ever seen. This type of intellectuals must teach in universities and colleges. The architecture which is sustainable, self sufficient and very close to nature .

Nice. Indeed. Remind me of Geofrey Bawa From Sri Lanka 👍
being a german gardendesigner, floristmaster, connected to auroville; my Statement: I have to admire that house. it is not hopeless , redundant luxury. it serves the essential Needs of a human being, may be one can do it even a bit more ecological (mud, earthstone) , but the design with all the penetrating nature is great. a sophisticated, decent home.

Would live in a unfinished building forever ? To leave it like that can give bad vibes. India has lots of buildings which are half demolished or unfinished. It gives a feeling of poverty and helplessness isn't it !? This isn't simplicity.

Ich weiß du bist gartendesigner und architektur ist nicht dein hauptgebiet aber was würdest du sagen wie teuer dieses haus ungefähr wäre?
Spending a day in this house may be the dream for everyone who loves a blend of traditional & cultural living....

Beautiful house, design intelligently, thnx for the lovely video
The house and garden is so beautiful. But I wonder, how they deal with mosquitoes in open spaces. We lock ourselves up after 6pm..

my thoughts exactly!! They had what looked like a pond with standing water in the house.... I'm sure that brings a major case of bugs and mosquitoes
nature's paradise + very well thought and designed by the Architect.
wow the home it self is pure art
This master piece is a tight slap on those urban designers who always gives primary priorities to more FSI and pseudo architecture of fall cieling and lightning effect .

They're probably just copycats and not even uni graduates at architecture or design. I particularly hate the one I employed for my house. Except for false ceiling he didn't even have good knowledge of colour, atleast not better than me. And I'm not even from arts background. Still their business goes on as usual, got clients...

Fish like guppy eat mosquito larvae. That pond was not merely a piece of standing water, there were suitable wetland/ semiaquatic plants there, which would probably attract dragonflies, whose larvae also eats mosquitoe larvae
Its beautiful🤩🤩
Simply awesome.
I would definitely prefer this over a luxury villa. People spend crores to live inside with artificial light. This one is simple yet beautiful and can provide comfort amidst nature.
Absolutely beautiful
combination of two kind of artist , great design
Simply beautiful and enchanting 💕

Such a beautiful house
This is an amazing concept
This is just so beautiful
Beautiful Architecture. For the longest time, we have admired Sri Lankan Architects. We see a beautiful influence of Bawa's philosophy manifested here in serenity. Love from Bangladesh.
A great space!
Amazing
I love it
This house is just beautiful
Great inspiration for mankind
Greenary tangled with nature ,amazing creativity.....🥰🥰🥰
Wow,Its speechless design,I'm sold...👍
Tranquillity,simplicity🌅🙏👏👏❤
Beautiful. In Mexico we have similar concepts in architecture. I wish it can go to scale so whether you are poor or have money you can live in a sustainable, ecological way. This is a natural way for us to live as our ancestors did. Thank you for leadership and showing this. 💗

Wow a beautiful home so connected to nature, a true inspiration, ty for sharing
Beautiful ! Great work 👍
Beautiful home...love the cement/brick/plants
Bravo, beautifull job .it is a successful colaboration between the architect and the Client .... Hope to visit The Coutry again ....

Very beautiful and wonderful really cool place,I can remember when I was in Bandarawela same like this, it's nice to see a place like this again, wonderful creation
These kind of minimalistic houses I love to live in instead of high budget over decorated houses.
I know that nature always wins. This design embraces that. Well done. Beautiful.
A beautiful blend using science and art, and at end of day, in harmony and peace with nature.
Loved the simple style of the narrator that told us the story of the house and its people.
Love it!
Perfectly Simple & Natural... ! 🙏 It gives a sense of freedom & space... Both physically & mentally...
Excellent!
අතිවිශිශ්ට නිර්මානයක්! Definitely gonna contact you guys when I build my dream house ❤️❤️❤️

Tremendous, beautiful design.
There’s so much to love about this house! Bravo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Lovely
This home is amazing!
wow . amazing
Simply gorgeous!
This feels like a childhood dream, when you would go and find dens in ruins, but with a grown up functionality. I love all the little open rooms on the ground floor. Generally I’m not a concrete fan but I really like this because it’s so soft with the brick nd the gardens.
The house is so close to the nature & open to the light.Air flow is good & spacious too.i like this house so much 😍😍😍
This is my ideal house design. Thank you for sharing! 😃😄👍💕
Wow very impressive
i felt in love with the garden and the brick walls. omaigad very very beautiful. love the nature sound 💕
Beautiful
So Bauhaus and Minimalistic..we need more of such homes and architects who could design and implement the resources that's closely available to bring out such homes.
This house is a treat to eyes. So creativie, simple yet sophisticated & maximum utilisation of space and resources. Love the ideas.
A mind blowing master piece. The is no difference between Inside and Outside yet very stunning volumes. What an Idea sirji
A master piece of modern architecture by understanding the place time and while a humble resemblance the house is astonishingly beautiful
Nice home sir
beautiful house, like my dream
Beautiful, open concept, spacious house...loved the exposed brick which gave a rustic look and the saffron coloured plaster which gave an earthy look..I built a small earthen house in the central hills of Sri Lanka..it was a challenge in a time where this sort of thing is mainly attempted by eco hotels. I used reclaimed doors and windows from Pasyala and the rooftiles are also reclaimed. It has a timber loft too. I have been living there since last March and have had no practical issues to note.
So beautiful
Thanks for such a good story, keep on doing. You did the very good inspiration for people who like to live with nature, without a fake ornament.
Una casa práctica y bella. Económica y aceptada por mentes cultivadas
I have never commented on KZread because i never felt like commenting on anything. But sir this is really the best building design i have ever seen.
The best home. Its a real home. Loved it. Simple, modern, classy... Love to have one like this.
