+K L Dark stuff's the best stuff ;p And it won an award cause that animation was done beautifully and the imagery used to explain the dark stuff was very imaginative.

What I'm getting out of this is this. You have the younger daughter at the table with her older brother and sister and the father. The siblings are not happy that she has come 'of age'. Count the candles on the birthday cake. Celebrating the birthday HAS a reason. She's a 'woman' now. The lotus representing the blossom of virginity that the father wants to take from her as he did to the others. That's why he is the only one who looks happy but the siblings look worried. They cry for her and can't do anything. During this time she is now understanding what is going on to her brother and sister. The separate scenes with their eyes blackened to show the symbol of abuse she is coming to understand. Or know about. So she steps forward to take the knife, or in the symbolism she is going up to the light, so that she could cut her birthday cake and she feels his hands running on her. Everything pieces together and she snaps. Panics. That's when the end comes and she slices his throat. Freeing both her and her siblings from his abuse. I fucking love this.

The Vampire at the head of the table is the head of the Clan (Klánvezér). The man and woman are the parents of the young girl, who has just reached the age of initiation. In the middle ages, according to Vampiric legend, the right to Turn children of the clan on their 14th birthday was given only to the Klánvezér of that family of Vampires. Once again, according to legend, some of the male clan leaders also deflowered the female children as part of the rite. Apparently, the parents (or possibly just the mother) decided otherwise and gave her daughter the means to kill the Klánvezér. That's the only explanation that makes sense of this short film, IMO.

I agree the older make obviously wants to deflower her as you see him taking a long hard whiff of the orcid in the beginning of the dream sequence. But as for him being a vampire I'm just not convinced you can end a vampires life by cutting his throught with a golden knife. It should have been through the heart.

The mysterious, slightly edgy but romantic style of this film is amazing! Totally my style. It looks stunning. Seems like France is putting out the best short films with the most beautiful animation these days.

Their eyes change when they are on the real world vs her "mind", at first it took me a minute to realize the brother was the same guy at the table as at the end

love the color scheme. Beautiful art. Had me mesmerized start to finish

Hmm, what I'm getting from this is that the father is abusive and rapes his daughter. In order to be free from his malicious actions, she killed him. The visuals of the animation is great, though they could use a different audio to suit the story.

Without reading the comments or the discription. Of course im stating the obvious, but how I interpreted it... Her birthday, she has become of age to understanding. The fear in the mother and rage in the bother (him holding the knife looking at the father to his mother and sister), and the fathers seductive smile. he had taken his daughters virginity and innocence(the flower blooming). The daughter entering through the curtains, (in shape of a vagina) basicly somewhat entering womenhood. the forest that she is lost, hoplessly recieving love and comfort from the mother, but the father abuses her making the daughter vulnerable to his demise and torment. Her trying to run, endlessly feeling captivated, when her brother express his care and love for his sister, gives her the courage to stand up and free herself. and...so she did! Although, I feel that the brother is more or less the standbyer, watching everything happen. As though the father is more or less, showing him how to treat women, no matter if wife, daughter, gf, or jane doe off the street, have power and control. I'm not sure as to the brother, rather he feared his father or...?? perhaps looking too far into it. but regardless thats the first thing that came to mind, VERY stunning. I loved the art and the darkness and light contrast ALOT. With just small symbols and little clips of details of the fathers abuse without going headon, straight foward to the act. where as the symbolism in every scene brings ETVERYTHING beautifully together. Well Done!

Why is my recommendation's getting darker and darker?

I love the lighting and textures on this animation. The story are described well too.

I don't want to be insensitive so I'll say first I understand the purpose of the video. But this would look fantastic for some sort of psychological fiction fantasy game.

Everything in this video is so beautiful, the character designs, environment, cinematography and much more!

I loved this. An unusual track that surprisingly fit the story extremely well. Beautiful visuals along with a strong narrative, yet a mysterious meaning. If this were a prequel/trailer to a fully developed series I'd be super excited to see it! I feel like the "princess" is someone who has been brought into a life of hardship, expectancy and abuse. For the sake of her family she grows strong and takes matters into her own hands, becoming a bad ass warrior princess! Well done! 😁

This really blew me away. Everything from the story to the visuals to the music was spot on. This is honestly my ultimate favourite short film on KZread! I've lost count how many times I watched this!

Well I guess it's about the daughter remembering all the things her father did to her like rape her and her mother and brother helped her gain the strength to end it, but that's just what I think the video was about

It's so difficult to find animated pieces done as well as this one. The meaning is so deep, the symbolism so clear (and yet there's so muh of it you need to watch a dozen times to catch some of them), the music matches the tone perfectly, the models and movements and the slow pacing tie in perfectly with the meaning of the piece... this whole thing is a work of art.

This was absolutely beautiful, my favorite one so far!

The door in 1:02 looks like a virgina, this also showed in the form of a flower. That' s for sure that the father had abused his daughter.Her brother gave her a knife, which is supposed to cut a cake. But, as she made that wish, she made it ture.

This may not be a planned rape by the dad, but something equally sinister. Did you know that in Medieval times teenage girls (especially princesses) were often married off to men twice or 3 times their age? Well, my theory is that as the girl was reaching THAT AGE on her birthday, daddy had been doing some husband hunting on her 'behalf'. What may have been portrayed in the video was the girl's fear of being married off to a man who behaved like her tyrant father & no doubt her mother & brother shared her concerns.

This rendered me speechless. It is sooo gorgeous to look at and so lush with detail! You known what is happening and you don’t even need words!! This is absolutely amazing and deserves every award it got!!

Okay i got 3 explanations for this short vid: Explanation 1: The man at the head of the table is the grandfather (father of the mother) abuses the mother and rapes his grand-daughter, wich turns out that the grand-daughter kills him. Explanation2: The man at the head of the table is an ancient vampire whom the mother closed a deal with for her own familie's sake, so that when the daughter comes off age, the vampire comes and rapes her, for his own race. At the end, the daughter kills him. Explanation 3: The man at the head of the table is the actual father and the young man is the big brother. He abuses the mother and rapes his daughter, wich also turns out that the daughter kills him.

The animation was flawless, the art design and style were gorgeous, and the way it was portrayed was absolutely beautiful....... Made me cry..... First video I watched on their channel and it turns out to be an amazing one.... The flowing of the dress at 2:09 really cought my eye because these animators do frame by frame work.... Its incredible...... So whoever did this amazing piece of art is a truly gifted person..... Keep it up!!

I thought it was her brother. Not positive though. What I found interesting is that in the description it says younger daughter, indicating there's an older daughter. Does that mean the woman in the video everyone's referring to as the mother is actually her older sister, or was it just a typo? The mother can also be her sister. The video is about the girl turning old enough to be a women in the fathers eyes. The bloom you see in the video represents her now blossiming into a women. The other people apart from the dad seem worried and it looks as if they already knoe what will come. The girl doesnt seem worried while blowing out the candles so she probably isnt been abused before. The only logical reason why the other people on the table would know what the dad was planning to do is when he 1 Has done it before 2 he told it to them (but i doubt that, other wise he wouldnt try to silence the mother/sister (covering mouth and pulling away)).
