Thanks! I’m finally back working on the Trojan again after a little hiatus (I published a book and built a new website since this last vid 😆 www.artofscalemodeling.com) I should have the next installment posted mid July. Next step is the retracts and doors which I’m about half way through at the moment.
read an article by bud davison years ago in model airplane news. he described flying the t-28 and its variations. i love the airplane !

Me too! You just can’t have enough t-28s 😆
This is going to be so friggin cool out on the runway, motor poppin and smoking, pilots checking out the scenery, taxiing out. Hell yeah 👍

15:58 Rear Canopy fit. Ha Ha, I flew them and when in the rear seat-for the Radio Instrument or RI phase of primary training under "The Bag", there was about a one or more inch gap on either side of the canopy open to outside air. Even in FL, but at 15K Ft. with O2 mask on, in January, it was cold! Could stick your fingers into the gap. We used to practice an instrument arrival procedure called a penetration. Supercharger back to low at 12,500, dump the nose, pop the board and point the nose down in the course according to the arrival procedure. So maybe the Mfgr was better than you think...BTW the heater operated on gas which meant it reduced your range. So you bundled up. As you can imagine the guy up front is toasty while the GIB is frosty. So there you go. Nice build. Does it have a speed brake?
Brother, I should have met you long ago. I've seen you do the best. So inspiring. Bob ❤
Great model
Great build Chris, looking forward to hearing the engine in this bad boy. Love seeing your tips and tricks, never gets old, I just have to remember them 😃

Thanks so much man!!
They certainly Fly nice and it should it,s a Trainer after all. Have x 2 1 to 1 scales just living down the road. Ya know they coming sound like concrete mixes. Looks pretty straight forward build should sound excellent with Radial in it. Keep at it now.😊😊

Thank you!
Oh man! It’s gettin real! Love the pilots! It looks amazing. Will the retracts be next? Would rubbing some candle wax on the surfaces where the canopy slides help it glide a bit smoother? Just a thought…

Interesting thought, I can give it a try.
Micro to large scale...who does not like T-28 !

True story! 😆
I've always used epoxy on pin style hinges. No worries with strength when using wood glue? Plane looking great!
@Thercgeek

No concerns at all. I’ve been using wood glue for decades (technique my dad showed me) and have never had any issues.
That's a nice model and affordable that's what I like the most. Are you going to weather it and is there any major wrinkles in the film? I've seen some wrinkles on other planes from Legend.

I do plan to do some detail and weathering work on top of the covering. Wrinkles are very typical for an oracover finish but are easily taken care of with a heat gun.
👍🏻
Do you use silicone grease on the joint pins of those hinges before you glue them in ?
@Thercgeek

I used 3in1 oil to preserve the hinge points. Works great! 😊
Wow - very impressive ! Is this rascal going to be IFR rated ?

What glue did you use on the magnets?

I used the starbond rubberized black ca.
just got mine. WHEN are you going to install the 60cc radial & post it for everyone?
@Thercgeek

Nice! I hate to say, but I’m running a bit behind on the build as I’ve had a ton of things happening behind the scenes. The next video will be the retracts and gear doors followed by the engine install and setup. At the moment, I’m not sure when the next installment will post just yet. 😬

@@Thercgeek I'll be keeping up with your build for sure. I have a "fix" for installing the radial after talking to Adrian @ch-ignition, so I don't mind passing it on as I am determined to install it on my plane. Once I install it, I'll let you know how it works out. Keep up the great work. You're doing a great job.
I would have used 30 min epoxy for the hinges NOT water base wood glue.

I hear you and understand. I’ve been using alphatic glue for these types of hinges for decades (trick my dad taught me) and never once had an issue or failure resulting from it.
