“Every Saturday Night” by Craig Somers.
Black and white film documentary about professional wrestling. We see the athletes warming up, the crowd gathering in the ring, and can feel the energy and excitement developing in the arena. There are some brief interviews with fans and wrestlers, but there is so much ambient noise that the words are hard to understand. Features Dick the Bruiser. According to a fan: “Bruiser…he’s the best. When Bruiser comes, the blood comes.” We see the Bruiser in a match. Afterwards, the wrestlers have some interesting things to say about the psychology behind wrestling. “People make it or break it, and I don’t care if they like me or don’t like me, as long as those turnstiles keep clicking.”
The card :
Jim Brunzell defeated Geoff Portz
Greg Gagne defeated Yugo Babich
Billy Robinson defeated Boris Breznikoff (Nikolai Volkoff) by disqualification
Nick Bockwinkel defeated "Sailor" Art Thomas
Baron Von Raschke and Horst Hoffmann defeated Billy Graham and Dusty Rhodes
Ox Baker defeated Dick the Bruiser by countout

Love the old school wrestling crowds too. The talent was amazing night after night back in the old days! Bobby Heenan was a heat machine!

The infamous Chicago International Amphitheatre. That's the primary reason my father never took us kids to these classic, epic wrestling matches (or Kiss concerts). People got heavily intoxicated and rowdy and ruined much of the fun of it. Cool video! I would love to see the raw, unedited version of this. This wrestling card consisted of the following matches: Ox Baker vs Dick the Bruiser COR Baron von Raschke & Horst Hoffman vs Superstar Billy Graham & Dusty Rhodes Nick Bockwinkel vs Sailor Art Thomas Billy Robinson vs Boris Breznikoff. Greg Gagne vs Yugo Babich Jim Brunzell vs Geoff Portz.

I see where you’re coming from. My late dad was a big fan and he influenced me as well. He never never took me to the ampetheater because of the infamous gunfire in 1975. I didn’t know that the fans really that rowdy. I did hear in the old days at the Ampetheater they used to serve hard booze, and a lot of fights used to break out! I still watch the old Bob Luce footage lol! One Stop and Bens!

Wow, I had no idea Dusty ever teamed with Superstar. How could any building ever contain that much charisma? Also, Nick Bockwinkel was such an eloquent promo.

It's interesting that the editing makes it seem like Bockwinkel lost, Graham & Rhodes won and Bruiser was victorious......when it was the other way round. :) Great mini-documentary.

Back when pro Wrestling was the greatest spectator sport in the world. This new era of ok your turn, my turn, call every spot before the match starts, high flying skinnies with no charisma, totally suck
