Avowed Obsidian's Sprawling RPG 2024 Release Approaches

Avowed is Obsidian's new open-world RPG set to release here in 2024 Avowed is possibly the biggest RPG release of 2024, being made by Obsidian Entertainment and taking place in the universe of the popular Pillars of Eternity RPG series, but instead of the classic CRPG isometric camera, Avowed is a first-person full immersion experience. Today we'll be discussing Avowed in detail as well as when some gaming news outlets are predicting it's release here in 2024 and why that is very exciting, as well as my expectations for Avowed and how I think it has a high chance of being 2024's greatest RPG experience!
So GameRant is reporting they believe Obsian Entertainment's Avowed RPG will release in the fall of 2024 : September or October due to the release schedules of all their previous games. Of course Avowed's release date has not been offically released, only that it is releasing in 2024 as long as it isn't delayed. GameRant says that with Obsidian's partnership with Xbox Game Studios and their release pattern, it is likely that Avowed will release in September or October of 2024 : And this makes a lot of sense, it's just in time to build up some hype before the holiday season kicks into full gear. It seems that Obsidian usually releases their titles in the spring or fall, and since we haven't had a huge swing in advertisements for Avowed, it's likely that the Avowed RPG will indeed start ramping up trailers and hype in Spring to prepare for their fall release.
And just in case you aren't aware, Obsidian is responsible for mega hits like Neverwinter Nights 2, StarWars Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity (which Avowed shares the same universe and lore with), The Outer Worlds and more, and in my opinion, Obsidian has proven over and over again throughout the years that they know how to knock it out of the park in both nerd-factor and fun with all of their releases and honestly reminds me of the old Bethesda back in their golden years.
And speaking of Bethesda, many are comparing Avowed to Skyrim or rather the Elder Scrolls series, expecting it to offer a similiar open-world approach to world design and philosophy but with updated and more modern combat. After all, Avowed was (according to sources) initially pitched as Obsidian's very own Elder Scrolls type experience before it began production. Avowed is set in Eora, which is the same setting for the Pillars of Eternity games, which if you haven't checked out yet, are absolutely epic CRPGs available now with some really cool stories and lore. Avowed is promising a triple A product that has branching dialogue, day/night cycles, and first and third-person combat actions.
Avowed, from what we've seen seems to center around a story where we will be investigating the Living Lands after a plague that seems to be corrupting the souls of the world. It also seems that the local denizens fear your character, possibly due to magical powers, and we'll be using a combination of hand-to-hand melee weapons, and ranged attacks mixed with spells to fight off the monsters and evil-doers of the fantasy world.
As far as the size of the world, a leaker suggests that it will be a fully open-world and much larger than Skyrim with real-time weather effects and supporting mods. The leaker also suggests that Avowed will allow the player to change the outcome of the narrative in various ways including being able to kill everyone in the game.
Avowed is going to be a very big release for Obsidian and put them in a position to knock down the weakened Bethesda : A chance for them to claim the throne of the next open-world RPG experience that will thrill and delight for years to come, and if anybody can pull that off, Obsidian is in a good position to be the one.
RPGs can be mega-sellers these days with big smash hits like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 showing how thirsty the RPG crowd is, and Avowed is on my radar to be "the next big thing", we will have to see how open-world it turns out to be with updates we will likely be getting over the next few months and of course, I'll be covering it all right here on the channel as we learn more about Avowed.
Avowed is certainly an RPG I've been anticipating since the first trailer and announcement back in 2021, and as I've already made clear, I'm a fan of Obsidian so far : I think that if Avowed manages to give the player freedom and allow the story to be bent and changed as well as offering a world filled with quests that are interesting and engaging.

Really pumped for Avowed! I’ve been telling people around me that this will be a huge RPG this year and just by seeing the trailer and knowing obsidian and what they’ve done along with just the themes of the game I think it’s gonna be very fun if it’s open world like they were saying it is
I’d be okay if they waiting to 2025; nothing worse than rushing launch to please investors. It’s definitely on my radar as I enjoy Obsidian as well. Thanks for the video!

I'm looking forward to it, but also skeptical. I know Obsidian made some bangers in the past...but that's the past and the Outer Worlds was made with a lack of time restraint and budget concerns so they could make exactly what they wanted....and that's the best we got? Cautious Optimism is how I approach most game releases nowadays since most companies just want to give out the most mid experience in order to push Gamepass sales.

looks like Skyrim but if Skyrim with Obsidian's writing of the story and companions I guess I am here for it.

After seeing and reading about the gameplay, I kinda wish they had just stuck with the CRPG method of delivery. : /
I adore its art style, magic and combat as shown in the trailer. It's good that graphics are not realistic like other rpg. It should have its own thing so that would make it unique and differentiate from other action RPGs.
Intriguing, maybe even exciting.

Someone needs to buy the rights to Vanguard SOH and re-release it. It would be a slam dunk smash hit. Especially now when the MMORPG market is in the gutter.

I hope it’s like The Outer Worlds but with fantasy. Good thing I have a Xbox Series S. I’m also excited for The Outer Worlds 2
Supposedly it’s more of a smaller experience like the Outer Worlds and not a full open world RPG.

Avowed, indiana Jones, hellblades 2 and stalker2 🤤 xbox is in full beast mode this year!
It looks pretty awesome. I'm excited to play the game. I love the Pillars universe.

I just hope it is more ambitious than Outer Worlds. That really did oversell itself, and I am afraid Avoved has, too. Very hyped from the initial trailer, slightly more reserved atm.

I am no longer hyped up for Elder Scrolls VI.... I hope this takes its place. Someone needs to teach Bethesda how dated their systems and ideas are these days.

Dont worry bethesda gonna bounces back! Elder scrolls 6 still far away they could take some things for avowed and also learn what didnt work so well with starfield

There is no emphasis on "keeping you on the edge of your seat" this is how I talk, I'm the same on Live Stream when excited or enthused about something. It's why I've been able to make a full-time career on KZread and why people like my videos, but it's certainly not a trained behavior or something done on purpose, I'm just talking bro.
