This video just changed my freaking life man. Thank you for breaking it down Barney Style for us. I've been making these for a little over a year and a half, and I FINALLY understand what I've been doing wrong this whole time. Thank you. No. Seriously. THANK YOU NICK. Your videos have kept me sane during the pandemic, and have subsequently made me the coolest dad in the neighborhood. You rock.

I have been wondering about this area for transition for some time, thanks for showing this. About 10 years ago I made a duct tape whip and actually ran into these problems, and though I knew it was never going to be a "really good whip" I found out many of the construction problems that go along with any whip construction...

You mentioned Bernie...Bernie46 from KZread? I love his work and videos! Thanks for the video, I love how much information you put into these. I'm following your instructions for my 8' bull, black with red accents (not my first whip, so I've ot a littler experience). Only major difference from your design is that I'm using BB loaded 550 inside my sinker cord, while you just load the BBs strait into your core (I had some loaded 550 from a previous whip). it makes the core a little stiffer, but not by much, plus it keeps it a bit neater IMO. Thanks again though for your videos, I've learned almost all my knowledge from Bernie46 and you!

It'd be the same as plaiting over the handle. Then you could do a Turks head knot or similar at the ends of each handle. Honestly, I think it's a great idea and I might just do it to my wooden nunchucks .

You may just need to make sure your plaiting it tight enough. Very small gaps are fairly normal, but they shouldn't be getting bigger. Try waxing your whip as well that should help a lot.

I stopped using tape in my whips except for the handle i use athletic tape on my steel hamdles to make them have a surface with friction so my paracord doesn't slide around on the handle other than that i use sinew to bind my core strands, which i use 1/4" sinker cord on a 1/4" rod and I use sinew to bind the core like Mr.Winrich does. Ive been baving good experiences with that

somewhat of a dumb/odd question, but I just recently saw the wrist loop tutorial and really like the 4 strand flat plait it may take some thinking (something my job gives me no time for these days) but would it be possible (likely using your lacing needle or something) to weave the flat plait in on itself similar to a Turks head (though preferably as a single pass instead of 2 layered side by side like a turks) and have that as a finishing/ferrule-holding knot? (that could in itself be the very definition of a Turks head, but I've had no sleep so forgive me if it is xD) as always great video :)

Buying From a Hobby Store in smallest amounts not intending to buy bulk to save money ... Id say about $50 for Everything Shown in one of Nick's How to Videos... But you will be left with enough of the other materials besides para-cord to make a few more whips. I am on my Second Whip and Still have not run out of the para-cord Either... SO I assume you would save $20 if you did the math before hand and purchased just enough para-cord for one whip... For labor ... I have been Averaging about 3-4hours per belly with a gradual learning curve speeding me up (8'-10'). Amazon is your Friend ... you can save money if you shop around... It is Quite Zen to listen to Podcasts / Audio Books and Make Whips ... Thanks Nick for all your Videos.

My whip building methods have changed drastically over the years. The intent of this video is to inform everyone of that fact, and share a more efficient building technique as well as make it known that the use of tape in a whip can be greatly improved with the help of some additional materials - artificial sinew as seen in the tutorial. I did not mean to confuse anyone Sean, hope this clears things up.

I created my first whip following your bullwhip tutorial now that I'm done I seen this video which contradicts a lot of the stuff out of your tutorial video. You should delete your tutorial video and create a new one with the new techniques. Really annoying to spend ten hours building this whip on your advice to find out it's all wrong
