If I dont spend money on ads I dont grow. I spend 300 a month for Instagram campaigns and typically grow about 1100 followers. Problem is, this doesnt translate to streams always. So ad to DSP is another budget. But, out of that 1000 new followers I gain for the month, only 70-100 will probably see my next post. Ill post something and it gets 40 shares in an hour, you think IG pushes that? Nope, but I thought we were sharing what is doing well organically? Well, that cant be true. They just want my dollars. So, at this point, running ads for eyes on impression to my profile is kinda pointless. I mean I have to run a retarget ad set just in hoping new fans will see it. Meanwhile, other individuals doing less quality than I am get organic traffic because they never ran ads. I think thats what my problem is, i started after the free traffic phase died out and I ran ads immediately therefore im just stuck in this "customer" box. I rather run it to Spotify and Apple at this point, at least I know it can trigger an algorithmic response on spotifys ends.

Our biggest frustration has to be content ideas. As you know, we overthink quite a lot. Then, would be what to write in the caption. You've covered that, tho.

The frustration really comes from turning purpose driven content into a consistent habit. In the beginning I can say that my purpose is to inspire people or whatever but over time after posting content every day or every other day that purpose seems lost and instead replaced with creating content for the sake of creating content. That stuff never hits imo because it’s easy to see through and makes it look like you’re just trying to sell something instead of actually desiring to give value to people (which is kinda true in that case). I guess I just need to remind myself that asking “how do I get attention?” is the wrong question, and I should be asking “how can I provide value?” instead.

do you believe the quality of the production in music matters? or do people seriously only care bout what youre social media looks like? i have so many music connections that i could set up my career but i have almost no real growth on social media whatsoever i can prove i have something there, getting 1k or 5k on short clips and reels, without really put effort or having consistency. but at the end of the day dont we just want a gig to make money and have more gigs open up? do you really aim for immediate fame and wealth and getting to know every famous person and getting interview after interview because that just seems obnoxious. i just want to make songs that last forever and i cant stop playing on repeat literally my one and only goal, in this age of AI who cares who you work with and people been sampling for ages. just make the song great and meaningful. i mean everyone at the top uses autotune anyways, rich people pay producers to make one song that can make them famous in a night. i just want to have that one song becomes the anthem for humans being as a species, captures everything at once and can be felt by everyone. thats how we end wars. remind them that when you hurt the "other' youre only hurting yourself. and if you had an ounce of intelligent or self awareness then you wouldnt.

  • @adamivy

The quality of production and a strong social media presence both matter. It's about finding a balance. Making music that's meaningful is crucial, but promoting it through social media helps you reach a wider audience. Immediate fame and wealth aren't everyone's goal, but making impactful music is. Keep making music that matters to you, and when the time is right, your message may reach the hearts of many.

I vary from doing chill acoustic music, to metal guitar solos, and metal vocal videos. So, I tend to send people away at a pretty good rate lol. They get sucked in from an acoustic video, then see something heavier I do, and go... no... what? why am I following him?

Hi adam. I am in a problem. I am a 17-year-old Indian brought up in germany. I want to make my presence internationally as I will make music in English. I would probably take a fake name. My problem is that, India does not have TikTok. What it means is that taste of people on tiktok is far different than IG reels (tiktok's counterpart in India). Now I can do my work on tiktok but Indian audience Loves to see international artist to interact on Indian content. And I don't know if Indian audience qualifies as monetizable audience. But one thing is for sure. Serving Indian audience will give huge fan following which is most likely poor financially. what should i do? Should I focus on producing content for indian audience which is VERY HARD to monetize OR should i focus on tiktok and try to to become successful over there?? OR should i make different content for both platforms?

Embrace your unique background as your secret weapon. Experiment with content that connects with both Indian and global audiences. In the long run, building a dedicated fanbase will pay off, and there are multiple ways to turn your passion into profit. Be realistic that this will be a long road coming from India but it is possible, be ready to adapt your approach, and always try to enjoy the incredible journey ahead!
