You’re right about LG. Five years into using my refrigerator, the compressor went. So much for the 10 year compressor. It was like pulling teeth to have the #Warranty pay for the full amount. In terms of Samsung, my first time using the washer, the baffle broke because some clothing got caught on it, which should’ve been a safety issue to begin with. Thankfully, I was able to return it to the store

We almost bought it-- but after using one in a cabin where we couldn't find a place except the 3rd rack we could wash a tupperware lid (the structure under the tines on the middle rack are spaced much, much farther out than they used to be) we went with Bosch. Leftovers are a huge part of keeping our family moving through the week, we have many lids that need washing.

Which brand is going to last? Would rather have it last a little longer than save a little. Having an appliance fail, then having the manufacturer dilly dally on the warranty, then having to swap the whole thing out again is a pain in the whazoo!

I bought a house in 2020 that had 3 year old Samsung kitchen appliances, stove, french door fridge and dishwasher. They definately wouldnt be my first, second or third choice but they were here and working. The only repair I've had to do so far is a gear broke in the ice maker so i replaced it myself with a new unit that cost me about $87. Aside from that I've pulled the fridge out from the wall and cleaned the coils as they were getting clogged with pet hair. The stove has worked perfectly. The dishwasher works but doesn't do the best job of cleaning tall glasses. There can be dried milk still in the bottom of them after a 3 hour wash cycle! I also found out that my dishwasher isn't built by Samsung. It's made for them in China by Midea which is hardly a top quality manufacturer.

LG makes the best fridges. Their ice maker is built into the door so it does not have the freeze problem, ice maker works great. Their mini door and knock glass works well. Also my LG dishwasher works like any other, but is extremely quiet. You cant tell it is on and I have it in an island. Also for washer/dryers just get a speed queen which is like $1,400 ea.

LG's LC refrigerators are notoriously bad. Ice makers in a fridge door will always break faster than those placed in a freezer. The house I moved into has LG appliances, the range is okay, the fridge is awful, and the dishwasher has already needed to be repaired under warranty. I would never buy Samsung or LG appliances.

Same. Moved to our new home more than 7 years ago. Bought brand new Samsung fridge, front load washer and dryer. Nothing super fancy. All working w/o any repairs. We always leave our washer door open after use, it doesn't smell. I just need to check and clean the tiny drain near the front of the washer once in a while.

We have 13 Airbnb's and got mostly Samsung appliances for them. We've had a couple stoves that needed new ignitors and maybe 3-4 dishwasher issues that all were pretty easy fixes that I did myself. For about 70 appliances that are 5-7 years old I'm shocked how reliable they have been. Everything we got was kind of their mid range stuff, nice, but not the absolute latest or fanciest and I think that's the key.

It’s anecdotal, but my In Laws have lots of Samsung Appliances. Everything but their fridge. Their washer broke after about 6 years and needed to be replaced. Their microwave is about 4 years old and a plastic piece that is the door clasp broke off and needed to be replaced, because it wouldn’t turn on without that piece locked in. Lastly their two part over broke one of its heating elements like 3 years after they got it and the repairman said it happens to almost all of their ovens. It has been fine for the 4 years since.

I’m just going to buy thespeed queen TR 700 or whatever it’s called but for now I have the LG and they work perfectly no issues but like I said, once they deteriorate and break on me, I’m just gonna buy the speed queen

ive had the opposite experience. I bought a GE unitized unit and seemed every couple of months there was something. It would stop turning on .. other times the lid wouldnt recognize its locked ... other times you hit the button to start the water starts and 2 mins later it just stops no warning or anything. They replaced the guts of it atleast 3 or 4 times even today its still loud as heck and they would not replace or give me credit for the thing. I only use it now to basically wash a towel or two if im desperate as i cant afford a new laundry machine set and its out of warranty. I have to go to the local laundry mat now. Cant remember if it was GE or whirlpool microwave the magneton blew in it after about 2 years. Replaced it with a overhead samsung and no issues whatsoever and its been about 5 or 6 years. The samsung dishwasher is over 10 years old and works beautifully once i cleaned it out well from the prior owner and the samsung fridge and stove never an issue other than the ice sometimes clumping but two whacks with ice pick and its good to go.

You have to look at the fill water quantity to compare between washers. Many companies advertise larger tubs, but they cant wash with the tub full as the water does not go that high. You need to compare the full water gallons.

@@danielc.1169Completely untrue! No one except for a select few stores sell Speed Queen because so few people actually want them! Speed Queen has a cult like following from the older generation that doesn’t care if they are getting a washing machine that was last designed and updated in the 1980’s. But, the majority of consumers wouldn’t even look at or consider a Speed Queen because #1 they have no idea what that brand is and #2 they look so incredibly old and outdated no one wants one. That’s why they aren’t featured in every single store; because they would not sell. Not to mention their pricing is insanely high for the average consumer to consider them versus the completion that looks way more modern, has tons of features, and costs less.

Everything this guy said is true! LG fridges are like throw away lighters. They aren’t built to last. I only loved my baby cubes of ice. I bought my GE cafe series dishwasher, electric double oven and my fridge with no ice on the door. Scratch and dent store with hardly anything wrong for pennies on the dollar. The guy told me rich ladies would come in but complain of the baby scratch you’d have to honestly look for in order to see. They sat and sat. Of course they were more expensive than the norm but because they sat he gave me more off. They are white with the bronze handles and they are not only spectacular to the eye but the ovens are amazing! It lets you choose convection/air fry or bake. I was upset because I didn’t get the electric stove top like I thought. It’s the induction range and they don’t tell you but you have to have special pans that will work on those and then you have the magnetic conspiracy theories and why it’s bad for our health. After lots of crap appliances over the years…. bad landlords with terrible appliances/family/friends experiences…. Cafe Series from GE truly won me over. The scratch and dent price helped. If I had to do it over without scratch and dent, I’d have saved for them. In fact, I was so mad the five year old LG died that I bought a dorm fridge and a 5 ft cubic freezer from Lowe’s I knew I could carry in my house by myself until I decided and put in the research on who is ahead on what and what junk. Nobody wants to replace a fridge every five years LG…….Seriously. That’s ludicrous. The compressor went out. I randomly went to the scratch and sent store. He used to be my plumber at my business and I asked him with zero customers in the store what I should buy and what was crap because he knows I have money. He said they get the least amount of calls on GE appliances. He told me he favored the LG washers and dryers. A guy like that would know. He stopped plumbing because the scratch and dent business was booming a little better ….plumbing was hard in his body. Also, my Kitchen Aid mixers are absolute 5hit. I’m not far from the plant that makes them. I have five different ones at my business and I call it the mixer graveyard. I rarely use them for small batches and I only use them for less than 30 seconds a pop. Gears are plastic now is what I was told. I have three artisan series and two of the “professional” series with arms. I even called Whirlpool, they come buy from me for their corporate events …. But refuse to replace them because I’m a commercial kitchen when I told them I hardly ever use them. They don’t even get what I’d call normal at home kitchen use. Junk. Another “they don’t make them like they used to” product. I use American Baking Systems for my big batches and they have 20 quart bowls. In ten years they’ve came to my store for a repair ONE time. His young son did the repair. Small business. You should take a tour of their warehouse and do videos on those. …..and tell him what I said. He will know who I am. Great channel!

I’d also like to add that I’ve had GE ovens in my business for ten years. They get used every single day. I’ve only had to change a few control panels out. They let me use non commercial because they know I’m crazy. Health department lady everyone hates told me she would eat out of my mop sink. I’ll take the compliment! I lived in a duplex for 17 years….. when I moved out, I told the landlord if the oven ever died, please believe the tenant. I did my business out of my house for years. Morning noon and night minus the 8 hours I worked during the day and little sleep I ran on. That oven still lived another five years! That’s GE for you. They had a GE washer and dryer when I moved in that was put in when the duplex was built in the 70’s. It died in 2015. Another GE. When they say they don’t make them like they used to…. It’s true. Consume, consume, consume.

This is another one of those typical “old school mindset” type videos when it comes to appliances. He makes a complete blanket statement about Samsung without explaining anything about the brand or why he has such a negative opinion about them. Which BTW that negative opinion is based on a few refrigerator issues that appliance “insiders” like to use to say everything Samsung makes is terrible. Every appliance manufacturer has had refrigerator issues; no refrigerator is bulletproof reliable. That Samsung refrigerator he said to avoid is part of their “Bespoke” line (Their more premium offering). It has had zero issues since it was released just about 5 years ago. For a little backstory all of Samsungs bad attention came from a really bad ice maker design they had that they no longer use (They built the ice maker into the refrigerator section and there was defrost and refreezing issues. Other brands such as LG also had this issue; Samsung just got the most attention about it). Moral of the story: just do your own research and make informed decisions based off of many different opinions. This guys blanket statement about Samsung alone disqualifies his knowledge in my opinion.

  • @paulinbrooklyn

I agree that the blanket dismissal of Samsung appliances is based on old information and there are some excellent offerings in Samsung's appliance portfolio these days. But, the ice maker situation was far from Samsung's only problem. Sagging hinges on their early year French door refrigerators being rhe most notable case.

  • @zachary2236

    @zachary2236

    7 ай бұрын

@@paulinbrooklynI definitely agree that Samsung has had a few issues in the past with mostly their refrigerators. The ice maker issue in the older models was the most prominent. The hinge issue was also a concern. But, every manufacturer out there has specific issues that you can point out; it doesn’t mean that you can make a blanket statement that the entire brand is horrible (Like what was done in this video). Notably LG has had some bad compressor issues in their refrigerators but "insiders" rarely bring that up. Whirlpool has had some issues with their washing machines in the past as well. All of these examples are just me basically saying…. Every manufacturer has their own specific issues but I personally don’t believe any brand is just overall horrible. So to make a blanket statement like in this video is just careless and misleading.
