20 years ago these games would not be sold in retail stores hence why I really despise digital stores like the EShop, PSN and Xbox marketplace because they do not care about quality.

I think its a great way for indie developers to get their games out there and it stops big companies having the monopoly over the industry, but there still needs to be a minimum level of quality enforced and in my mind, that responsibility lies with the distributor.

I wouldn’t have such a problem with all of the shovelware uploaded to the eShop if Nintendo’s refund policy wasn’t so terrible. They really need to do what Steam does and refund after a short amount of time.

They really do have the worst refund service I've ever experienced.

Definitely understand the hesitancy of putting RedDeer Games on the list. They have absolutely made the eShop worse due to their practice of spamming their games to the storefront with a gazillion "editions" that just amount to different configurations with free DLC (DLC that probably would have been included in the game itself if it wasn't split out to use expressly for this purpose). However, at the same time they have published some actual decent games like D-Corp, Deflector, and Cyber Protocol. If it wasn't for their sleazy eshop tactics, low-effort hentai games, and gimmicky apps like AAA Clock and nOS New Operating System, I feel like RedDeer Games would probably be seen as a low-to-mid-tier indie publisher, but at least a respectable one. As-is, I hesitate to buy any game put out by them, both because I don't like the thought of supporting what they're doing to the eShop, and because there's a strong likelihood we'll see fifteen billion other versions of the same game, and it's always possible one might actually include *paid* DLC.

Yea, I've been considering how to pitch a video on them for a while now, they do have a selection of decent games, but their marketing practices with "DLC Bundles" only adds to the issues the e-shop has. I have personally stopped covering games from them despite me seeing a few that I wouldn't have minded giving a go.

Hey thanks for sharing all this information! Scam trashware studios make it so hard for genuine indepedent developers to build an audience and make a living. They muddy the water and poison the well, and the gaming landscape becomes more cynical because of a flood trashware games.

There’s already a clone of suika game from that one asset flipper publisher and it basically looks the same. Unbelievable how that isn’t getting pulled.

Man these cheap ass devs really hurt the efforts of smaller studios.

Luke, I thought I was watching a BBC Panorama episode. The fact how these publishers (associated owners) are acting like directors of dodgy limited companies who close down owing customers money or services and then reappear under a different limited company name to avoid justice. If you had a bigger budget I could see you running down a street with a cameraman in tow chasing down the individuals behind these scams and challenging them for comment 😂

Also adding and seconding the opinions of other fellas here, Red Deer and Qubic are becoming a pure pile of garbage, and the Switch Up channel always giving them exposure almost all the year, and lastly some of the brazilian developers dropping their trash around $0.01, every big sale those shitty scams comes in first place, no quality control really hurts on the digital market. Thanks for raising the voice for the community dood!

Yea, I have considered putting out a video on RDG for a while now, Qubic are very much a mixed bag when it comes to their titles for me, some are decent but especially recently, they've been putting out some very low effort mobile ports. You may be thinking of Game Nacional for the Brazilian publisher? The e-shop is truly in a state right now and I don't see Nin fixing it.

This sounds a lot like what Valve had to battle with on Steam, especially when it started some weird Steam Wallet crediting loopholes iirc.

"Scam Games Playlist" is a pretty good name for an album... I might nick that! Keep fighting the good fight Luke, Happy New Year, love to your family x

I haven't seen much from Pig's Farts recently but was assuming they were still around. What is BoomBit going by nowadays? They changed names a few times and I lost track, but I still see the same "drive a forklift in a circle" game every week.

You might also want to steer clear of a company called Bethesda

This game era really sucks, way too many dodgy unqualified publishers for a quick buck. A shit time for gamers. More than half the indie publishers shouldn't exist.

I wonder why isnt red deer games on the list? They release 3-5 bundles every week… notes, nOS, aaa clock, hentai girls…

I bought Disco Cannon Airlines (but on PS4) and I found it to be so weird and so bad, that it's actually somewhat entertaining 😂 I guess, with such a low price, I can't really feel like I got scammed 🤷‍♂

Ah Entity 3... is that who is putting out all those garbage looking games? RedDeer and more recently Qubic... pains me to say this but they're releasing more and more garbage, especially Qubic. Qubic has a bunch of Entity 3 looking titles. Reddeer I think gets a pass because I think their biggest crime is the millions of different "versions" of their games, but they are actually games, at least.

Yep, Qubic and Red Deer are both concerns of mine too, both have some decent titles but have really slipped down the shit slide recently.

Honestly at this point I'd put RedDeerGames as the number one publisher to avoid giving any money to. I'm so beyond tired of seeing them release the exact same five games every single week, and it's absurd that Nintendo even lets them do this. The eShop's new release section is single-handedly ruined by them constantly spamming rubbish like the 120th version of AAA Clock or the 47th edition of Hentai Girls with its 'hand-drawn art' (according to the production description) which is actually just AI generated slop.
