I got to Daytona, in '78.. 28 years later, I got out.. It was the heat & humidity that nearly killed me.. I handled most of the conditions well, but it you don't have a cash reserve, you might be shafting yourself..

As a local I agree with the guy below me, but also palmetto bugs get pretty damn big and like to dive bomb your ass. Another thing about the crime rate. I would say it's fine during the day but late night I'd be careful if your walking near the bars on beachside.

I currently live in Myrtle Beach but have traveled to Daytona several times for bike week walking across US1 back to the hotel did happen to see several alligators in the ditch. We made sure to detour around them. Nice area. Been considering moving there but wasn't sure how the automotive repair job market was in the area

are those "roaches this big" you speak of called palmetto bugs? they do have them in daytona and they are easily confused for roaches. but all roaches have wings though they mostly use them to glide not truly fly although some really do fly... you should mention the noseeums when you talk about bugs in daytona. and scorpions. and ants and fleas the size of ladybugs. stay off the dunes, the fleas will tear your ass up.

They’re not flying roaches, they’re water bugs bruh. We got them in Atlanta. Sometimes they’re 5 inches long.

Hahaha! I spent 3 weeks in NSB last fall, 2022. Finally, I saw one (1 !) homeless person in Daytona Beach near the racetrack area. Compare this with Honolulu where the homeless tents are under every overpass, or Hilo where they HAD to set up a tent city for all the homeless. Then, just for fun, compare volcanoes to hurricanes. LoL. Are there tsunamis in Florida? There are hammerheads and tiger sharks in Hawaii but no snakes, alligators, scorpions, etc. Flying roaches must have come from the Philippines, because they are here and we have a contest every year to find the largest ones. They are about 4-5", (I think, could be more by now). There are incredible centipedes though.

Man are you reaching, bears, alligators, sharks, roaches? Is that really all you got? I was hoping this would be useful, like economics.

Drugs, violence, a retail waste land just east of 95, a run down board walk, clowns playing dress up on Harleys 2x a year, old folks who have no idea the slow lane exists, traffic growing by the day with overloaded and overlooked infrastructure, more drugs, aggressive panhandling, and a rundown mall great thing about daytona is your close to 95 and can leave and go to Ormond or nsb quickly

my neighbors son went to some type of an aviation school in Daytona. He said Daytona itself is not very nice. It is not a great place to live. He actually described parts ofit as a s-t hole.. set up for crowds & vendors to get in, stay for the carnival a week, and get out of town..the best place for events like motorcycle weeks, car weeks , fantastic for those types of events and shows ,but not the best place to raise a family .. A great place to visit and party, but you wouldn’t want to retire there for the quiet life,unless you’re a partier..

Not on Daytona!! Sleeping on the beach at any time will end you up in jail!! I lived there 21+ years and personally know multiple people that were dozing while spending time/the day and WERE ARRESTED!!!

Hollywood beach Florida and Hallandale beach Florida is way better than this place it’s just way more to do and growing businesses and communities.
