Good video, but you did not mention the exponential rising cost of homes and rent here in DFW, prices that most people can't afford.
Dallas people tend to ignore Fort Worth, which is the nicer major city in the "DFW Metroplex" (not "Dallas area" which is used by provincial Dallasites). In Fort Worth we say "Life is too short to live in Dallas."
@gregorysouthworth783

I had family come and visit the DFW area. They had a chance to sample both Dallas and Fort Worth as well as Arlington. One woman from Boston thought Fort Worth had far more character and it felt more like "its own place" although the whole Stockyard/Cowboy thing seemed touristy. Dallas she said had an Anywhere USA quality about it. Yes, it checked the big city boxes (as did Ft Worth), but she seemed to feel she could have been in Kansas City or Cincinnati or Denver (minus the mountains), or Phoenix (with a little more water) or just about any other city. The woman in the video mentioned humidity and DFW does have humid days, but it's nothing compared to cities in the Midwest or places in the Southeast. And, of course, the Houston metro takes the cake for humidity here in Texas. The video nailed it about how flat it is. Well, this is an area geographically out of the Plains and it looks like...well, the Plains. Otherwise, good video and pretty accurate...one correction, we just passed 8 million in 2023.

People are still getting used to the Fort Worth revitalization. It used to be the slums of the city before they started fixing it up.
@75Froggie

@@beanalleneNo. Dallas has had a stronger business presence and economy since the early 20th Century. Fort Worth has always been a better place to live, unless one cannot overcome the burden of the commute to Dallas to work. Since the DFW Turnpike (now I-30) opened in the early 1950s, that problem has not been as much of a deal-breaker, and the phrase "Life is too short to live in Dallas" has become increasingly self-evident, including for employers.

This is a good place to learn aviation . It’s hot here and the weather is wacky . One time I took off , the density altitude was so bad I was getting about 400 FPM climb out ! - I took off from Addison this other time - clear skies - bam! Socked in fog off the lakes . I have flown out over to Mesquite by lake Ray Hubbard , on the way out in the afternoon the bumps will have you wanting to barf . I did my night cross country out to an un towered field on a moonless night and lost all my electronic instruments and coms, that was fun ! … I was doing touch and goes over by Mckinney (TKI) and a big gust whipped out Cessna 172 R sideways when I was about 10 feet over the field - winds at 12 knots then some bizarre gust ! Happens all the time - we have epic winds out here in DFW - We also have these microburst . Sudden down rush of cold air . Will slam a big jet right into the ground . Also the class bravo out here is busy as hell , not only will you learn to deal with our wacky af weather but you will get real good at talking to the ATC . And they are some pretty bitter bches believe me ! So yea the flight training here is good because you have the big azz bravo airspace , mean controllers , permanent TFR right off Addison ( President Bush house ) , wacky AF weather , and lots of traffic - hell the day of my solo out to Paris Texas I had to divert due to unscheduled jumpers ( parachuters ) over by Cado mills - they were not supposed to be jumping , checked ahead of time - I’m monitoring the ctaf on com2 and I hear “jumpers away “ yup divert over by lake Lavon . Best training is at American flyers in Addison btw . Always monitor the ctaf ! My zen words to aspiring pilots …peace out .

It's not just the hot summers but the scary lightning storms in the spring, and the cold wind and ice storms in the winter. Ah yes, the tornado warnings and actual tornadoes. Lots of wind. 2. Snakes and spiders. We live in the country granted, but in less than six months we've already had a 4 ft rat snake on the back porch and a huge black widow in the garden. There are a variety of bugs constantly. 3. Air quality is extremely poor at times Still, we are glad to be here!

I live in Ventura, California near the beach. People tell me online California is bad and I should move. I'm not moving unless it's a step up. The weather anywhere outside of Ventura is horrible. It's either too hot or too cold. Then you add in the insects and critters which makes it more dangerous to be outside. I'm only moving if it's going to be financially worth it which would probably require making me a millionaire. I grew up in Abilene, and when we were looking for schools, all my friends used to make fun of Baylor bc Waco was so boring. DFW, Houston, and Austin/San Antonio are the biggest cities in Texas, and you can also add in El Paso, but that is way west Texas, almost in New Mexico. DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) also isn't really near any of the other large cities. In fact, non of the large cities are close to each other. Austin/San Antonio is centrally located, so you might say that is the closest, but it's still 3-4 hours to Dallas if I remember correctly. Just look for something around Dallas. There's a million little cities and areas in the DFW metroplex. That's definitely your best bet. I don't really know a lot about all the little suburbs, but Denton, Allen, Frisko, Plano, Grape Vine, Arlington, etc. Also, don't count out good ol' Fort Worth.

@The Day Family. I would imagine there is a market for everything out here. Texas is in the South as well and the sun and heat can be brutal on cars interiors. Sorry I am not an expert on the business possibilities, but if you have any questions about moving out to the Dallas Metro area, I should be able to help with that. Just reach out at our contact info in the description.
We gonna turn that state purple! It kinda sounds like a crappy place to live but so many jobs there we gotta move. It’s gonna be hot, crowded and expensive! Fun

Get lost with your politics and traditional values. Your evil traditional values is what got humanity in the mess it is now. From your religious bigotry to hate, division, terrorism, racism , homophobia, slavery, misogyny etc Your traditional values and status quo destroyed the world and got us all in the mess and revolt all across the world. The oppressed and victims are no more quiet. Deal with that and History remembers.

Blue values in Canada would be Conservative. The Americans screwed up the associated colours compared to the rest of the planet when it came to political orientation. Also, the US is actually a country where the majority population are more Liberal leaning yet have a two party system that are leaning to if not on the extreme right. Also, as a traditional Muslim woman, I would say that the US is the last place you want to live as the xenophobic, especially in Christian Right Texas would try to boot you out or worse. Also, our health care and social systems are a little better here in Canada but if you want true religious and human rights freedom, look to the Scandinavian countries as they are very accommodating.

Dallas city and county is a big blue island in North Texas, and tends to be progressive. Dallas is the only place in Texas I'd live. I live in the beautiful Lake and Garden District around White Rock Lake area. Like living in a small town. Only place I've lived in Dallas Metro where I know my neighbors. Lots of trees, creeks, White Rock Park and Dallas Arboretum. Weather in summer is horrible. Also do your research before moving to Texas. If you're afraid of hail damage I put a class 4 shingle roof on my house. It's worth the peace of mind. The suburbs are flat, treeless, and horrible traffic, won't make that mistake again Dallas and Collin County have DART mass transit. Utilities are high, taxes are high, and San Antonio Express did a comparison between Texas and California and California was cheaper. I stay here because I really love my neighbors.
As far as jobs are concerned, it’s better to transfer within your company and you have a better chance of keeping your higher salary. I have a friend who did just that and his requirement was before they would transfer him was keeping the salary.
I don't understand people who move without already having a job lined up. But I've always lived paycheck to paycheck so maybe that has something to do with it.

Texas is a paradise if you own a business or a landowner. Unfortunately blue collar jobs don't pay very well especially in cities like Austin where rent is the same as in California. True, if your not a high earner living in Frisco, Southlake, Highland Park would be tough. But there are plenty of communities in the metro more affordable. As far as pay goes, Dallas may not be the highest for every job, but it pays competitively in many careers. Just depends on what you do.

I moved from LA to the area just to piss off all the people who blame Californians for Texas' own self-made problems. I've been all over the country. Texans are the only people who think there was something inherently better about this state before the influx of tech and corporate jobs, transplants, and the real estate boom (in addition to traffic 😅).

Feeling you don't like Texas. Couple things you got wrong. As politics go, pretty much all the major cities in Texas vote blue. The suburbs are large and mostly red though. Construction is awful in every city. Downtown Dallas does have some BS construction downtown due to unions trying to keep workers working. On nature, Dallas has many parks, a couple of lakes close by and many sister cities like Fort Worth with some amazing bike and running paths. I highly recommend you get out more. As far Dallas not being a 24hr city, if it's food, there are tons of places open besides Whataburger. Many ethnic food places, fresh made pizza and some burger places. Many more if you look. ...I REALLY think you should explore DFW more. I feel you have allowed yourself to be trapped in small bubble.

One thing people assume about Dallas is that we all wear cowboy hats. You seldom ever see anyone walking around with one.
@WJCTechyman

Well, the stereotypical Texan in a lot of people's minds is probably a cowboy hat wearing, Republican card carrying, devoutly Christian old white guy with pearl-handled six shooters on both sides of his hips, dressed in a tan suit and a longhorn bolo tie, cowboy boots that shouts "Howdy" as a greeting and "Yeehaw" when they are excited.
I want to move to Texas because it is more conservative leaning. But isn’t Dallas itself liberal?

@Gabriel Bunggay s with many large metro areas, Dallas is no different. While the state is largely conservative, the areas closer to the downtown cities tend to lean more liberal. It definitely has been one of the challenges living here, but at least you were not near the 380 up in Frisco, that has been horrible.
Every year, spring storms are no joke, and no basements to hide in. Summer heat is wilting, and really works over your house and cars. Worst thing is really the reckless, unchecked entitled drivers. Cost of living is going up fast, and property taxes are super high and rising. Move close to work, or you'll spend lots of your time in crazy traffic. There's nothing to see here if you like nature though, and everything is a long drive away. Still, lots to do and there's everything you could want here if the job pays enough to afford the cost of living. Oh, there's a pretty big cycling culture here if you are into that and don't fear the homicidal latte sipping giant suv driving soccer moms. I care nothing about sports, but am just down the street from the Cowboys "Star" lol.
Moving to forney in a week, gateway parks neighborhood. Renting a place so we can find a home to buy. Time to scout the area to see where we want to live. We want to be close to the city of dallas for work purposes but far enough out to sleep with the crickets. We like the countryside. We were thinking fate or royse city, whats your thoughts on the area? Never been to tx before but it has good work there for our business being self employed and its got to be better than charlotte based on what good things people say about texas. My wife has a cousin in parker tx that says great things about the area. Charlotte has become a ghetto to say the least and its time to go. Cant go anywhere in charlotte unless you like dodging bullets while shopping and thats no exageration, i literally had to on some occassions so thank god i survived. Decided to sell our home of 17 years and vacate this terrible state that caters to the people that create so much crime.
