    I worked in Crestview for one year and did not renew my contract because of the traffic. When my daughter and her husband was transferred here to the AFB base, they were looking at Crestview. I recommended staying a night in a hotel and driving into the base the next morning to see if they would want that hassle for the next 2years. They decided on Fort Walton Beach… And he’s right about the schools… and he was being kind. I worked in an elementary school there

    Crestview is not on a peninsula. The panhandle of Florida is not a peninsula. That was an outright inaccurate statement. One of the most important facts that you failed to report is that building in the area has absolutely skyrocketed in the past 30 years. Unfortunately, the infrastructure has not kept up with the growth. The traffic and lack of services is a reflection of that fact.

    My son moved there three years ago. He can’t wait to leave. Lol….to be fair to Crestview though, it has more to do with the reason he’s there…and not Crestview. The city itself is a lovely place. The people are so nice. I’ve visited my son there a couple of times, and I’ve really enjoyed it. He went to help his nephew out which turned into a complete disaster. At any rate, I believe anyone would enjoy Crestview!

    Lots of new restaurants in Crestview (Chick-fil-A, Chilis, Chipotle, Texas Road House) and a several local favorites such as Peppers, Panera, and McAllisters. Pensacola is a quick but easy 45 min drive on I-10 where there are a couple of malls (Cordova) lots of entertainment options, several movie theaters, tours and music venues. Crestview is a slower pace of life than Fort Walton or Destin. Destin is also a 45 min drive but you must pay a toll to cross the Bay Bridge. During Rush hour it takes 40+ min to drive from Eglin to Crestview, more if there is an accident on 85. Just settle in with a good pod cast and chill out. Crestview has a nice movie theater, roller skating rink, and a new strip mall with Planet Fitness, Aldi, Ulta, Marshall's, Five Below, Burlington's Coat Factory. While it is smaller than Pensacola and Destin it also comes with a slower pace of life which is really nice, but it is a quickly growing city. It still has managed to retain that nice small town feel. Locals avoid Destin in the summer due to all the tourism on the beaches which clogs the roadways. Beaches are nice but over rated and you get over that quickly; not to mention Pensacola has great beaches as well. Crestview is a nice place to live. One thing to note is that house insurance is rather pricey and some insurance companies have pulled out of some communities here.

    We agree, Crestview is great! Luckily the insurance companies are coming back in droves. We've had at least 8 companies come back and another 20 or so estimated to be back up and running by the years end. If you own a home, I'd suggest shopping around for a new policy between now and the end of the year, I believe they should be dropping.

    @@artemiswild7448 sounds good, we have some videos planned out for Pensacola coming here soon. We don't do much with Panama City because I don't have a specialist there, yet. It is a close enough area that we can service anyone wanting to move there but until we have a specialist in place that is really involved in the real estate in that area, we shy away from it. We are actively looking for a new agent partner there though, so hopefully soon! I appreciate the suggestions!

    I saw the cost of living video done during covid. I don’t know about Florida, but prices have changed drastically here. Could you do another video like that for post covid prices? And I know this sounds stupid, but how much does it cost per pound for a whole chicken? 😂. For folks who don’t eat out much, that’s a much better judge for food. 💕

  • @LifeOnTheEmeraldCoast

    We have done two cost of living videos in the past month, one for Fort Walton and one for Destin. If there is another area that we service that you have your eye on, the numbers are going to be the exact same and all capacities except for the housing. Certain cities will be cheaper than Fort Walton and Destin, and some won't be more expensive. Crestview for instance, we have considerably cheaper options for housing, where as the 30A area will be more expensive for housing. I don't remember which video it was, but I did mention specifically the price for chicken, that's a staple in my diet so I made sure to mark it down when I was at the grocery store last time. I'm pretty sure I even talked about organic versus non-organic with the pricing of chicken.

But to answer your question on the chicken, if you get it in bulk, like the 6 lb trays that they have at Walmart, it is currently sitting at $2.67 per pound, Sam's club may have it cheaper, I've never priced check them.

    How far of a drive is to get to the mall or the beaches?

  • @LifeOnTheEmeraldCoast

    Great question - From the center of Crestview it would be 35 to 40 minutes for both, the Santa Rosa Mall isn't near as popular as it used to be, in fact it's getting more and more barren over the last few years. Destin Commons may be better for shopping, it's about 37 minutes away and if you really want some great shopping, silver sands outlets are 42 minutes away. Hope that helps!

  • @LifeOnTheEmeraldCoast

    @LifeOnTheEmeraldCoast

    2 ай бұрын

    Well we have gyms in droves over here, with all the military folks, I think that causes a little bit more demand. And yes you can drive to the mall, for this particular video we were talking about Crestview, so if you were coming from Crestview you will have 3 main options for malls. The Cordova Mall in Pensacola is 46 mins away. Santa Rosa Mall in fort Walton beach is 35 minutes away. Silver sands outlets mall in Miramar Beach is 45 minutes away. There is technically an outlet mall in Crestview but it's not a big one, nor does it feel like an outlet mall. A few shops here and there, really. But hey, 35 minutes away isn't bad for Fort Walton! I'd spend the extra 10 minutes to hit the Pensacola mall though, that one is huge! And way more intact than Santa Rosa Mall. Santa Rosa Mall seems like it's dieing. I like the outlets in Miramar personally, but you do have to be outside walking from store to store, and it gets warm here 😆
