I'm not much of a drum solo guy. I've never found drum solos in jazz all that interesting, but Simon Phillips with Hiromi and now Roni Kaspi is making me change my mind about how awesome jazz drum solos can be.

It is very difficult to feature the bottom of the rhythm section as the lead with the outcome being exciting.He is able to play in a style that suits his nature and ability. The great thing about Jazz is that it can go almost anywhere within what we can process.

It's amazing to hear yet another version of this piece Avishai Cohen has played som many times with his trio, sometime with an orchestra - such as done in Antwerp on May 12th 2023. Maybe thanks to his long inspired introduction, he allowed fantastic drums player Roni Kaspi to also get out of the know path in her drums solo! I'm again blown away. Congrat's, Roni. You're 23yo, and we are hopefully going to be often amazed by you for the years to come.
