    Boyfriend bought Aviron rower 10 months ago, now it’s mine. I don’t really like gyms, but I rowed 1.3 million meters so far. I love those games, programs, first time feel like I’m not doing workouts, but actually having fun and take challenges. 😆

    Nice review - pretty sure that I watched all of your other videos! As a distinguished rower, you have pointed out many things that I hadn't even considered when purchasing and this speaks to the quality of your reviews. Somehow, I read about the Aviron (where it was mentioned in passing) in a random review. I have owned this for about 6 months and have used it nearly daily. I will say that he most important feature for me was the ability to work through a program with automatically adjusted variable resistance. Program variability is extensive and new programs are constantly being pushed to the unit. Consequently, you can seemingly do a unique work out every time. I am not a "class" guy and, as such, these type of work-outs are otherwise unattainable by competitors. The only other rower that offers variable resistance (to my knowledge) is the NordicTrack rower but that is only when controlled by an instructor in the "class" setting. Also, important to me is the ability to have unlimited users with their own profiles (6 users in my household). I consider this the best purchase I have ever made in terms of fitness equipment. You certainly get what you pay for.

    Hello. How is this holding up a year and a half later? I've been eyeing this for a while but I'm a bit concerned about the electronically adjusted resistance. Have you had any issues with that so far? Have all six of you been working out on this machine on a daily bases?

  • @jj5460md

    @jj5460md

    Жыл бұрын

    The unit has held up quite nicely and I have not experienced any issues to date. Resistance has been remarkably consistent (as tracked by total output per given resistance per exercise over time). I am definitely the principal user. I will say that I don't use it every day as I have joined a couple other community apps GORUCK and MTNTough that keep me busy as well. For calorie burn, it is hard to beat the rower. It is always my go-to machine if I have had a long day and need to get in a solid workout with limited time. Ultimately, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this rower again. The programs (and continued updates/support) truly distinguishes this unit in my mind. Full disclosure: I have never tried another unit (i.e., Concept2) that obviously has a fan club. Hope this helps.

    Great review! Thanks! I just came across this beauty and wanted to hear a good review on it, and I did. It's kind of a pricey purchase, but I was going to buy a Peloton bike for $3K in the Summer, and decided against it after ordering it because I don't enjoy biking that much. What I really want to do is engage my entire body, so this machine fits the bill. The game component is a nice bonus too so that it's not so boring. I am ultra competitive so the metrics will enhance my exercising. Thanks again! I will check out your classes too :) Merry Xmas!

    Great review, Austin! I’m not in the market, being one of the Neanderthals that actually enjoys your C2 content! But it’s always good to know what’s out there for when others ask, and clearly want something more entertainment-centric. At least this one has a “just row” type function, unlike the Hydrow as far as I’ve been able to tell. It’s a big minus if you can’t work out when your connectivity is spotty. I’m sure this will find a happy audience in the deeper-pocketed crowd. Thanks for sharing!

    Hey Austin! Just discovered your channel recently (by way of an OTF email) and have enjoyed your videos. I have really enjoyed all the reviews you’ve done on the different rowing machines, including this one. I noticed when you were showing what it looked and sounded like at three different resistances, that the monitor shook/wobbled a lot. Do you think that will be an issue over time for the wear and tear of the monitor? Or is just because you’re a beast and most of us wouldn’t cause that issue? 😂😂 Thanks and keep up the good work, Brian

I thought I was settled on the Hydrow (when looking at hydrow, ergatta, or concept2), but like the lower product weight of Aviron and other innovative design items you’ve detailed. Any suggestions to help decide between hydrow and aviron for someone who liked the “class” style offerings on hydrow but also the competition/games/scenic rows on the Aviron (and KZread connectivity)? Thanks for the review! I've been researching row machines over the the last month and didn't even hear of this one until today when I seen your review and I am so glad I did! I really think this is the machine that would appeal to most everyone in my house - thanks for all the details, especially about the seat and positioning and the games! How would you compare the noise of this vs. the Hydrow? It looked like the front-end was a bit shaky while you were rowing - could you feel it and if so, did it bother you? There's hardly any reviews (outside of the manufacturer's site) on this machine, yet it's been out for awhile, do you know why that is (i.e. was it difficult for you to get or something like that)?

    For me the answer is an emphatic yes. I don't know what it is about gamification but it's always triggered my competitive instinct. I'm not even a "workout warrior" or anything like that and I'm getting in 20-30 minutes 4-5 times a week on this, and I've only had this a month. I'm working up slowly to 12k meters a workout. I check where I am daily on the new leaderboard they just added, it's a great incentive to try to reach that #1 spot. I used to have to drag myself to use my Peleton 1 time a week, now, in my mind I want to use my Avrion daily but I know I have to take some days off to avoid burnout. This rower is amazing.

    Hi Austin, I haven't used a rowing machine in forever. This machine sound like it would help me stay in shape. I'm looking to work out 15-20 minutes a day. Would you recommend thus machine for someone getting back into working out and getting a full body exercise in one shot?

    @@trainingtall they're one of my favourites. Feels a lot like a single skull. Only thing is I find the seat kinda sharp and not comfy. I actually prefer the concept 2 erg seat. Also you can get a really high stroke rate on it. The handle feels pretty nice. The screen data is a lot. Lots of data. You can even set power curve shape targets.

    What about a rower equal to the Averon without the tech? I listen to music while rowing. I'm fine not having tech attached but I want the benefits of a really good rower, like the Averon.

    Great review! Thank you for all the key comparisons to Hydrow and Ergatta. I’m new to rowing and not sure what is best for beginners like me...I like the look and reviews I’ve seen for the Hydrow but intrigued by the games offered in the Aviron (also a gamer). Any suggestions for determining between the two? So glad I’ve found your videos, very inspiring for a newbie like me!

    Hey Jess! I think as a gamer, you wouldn’t necessarily get a lot out of the “games” on this machine. Like I said in the video, they can be mildly entertaining, but I think the families experience of the Ergatta is better than the games on Aviron

    It helps to have two people to put it together, but I did it by myself. It’s doable. You should have no problem unfolding/folding it once it’s assembled.

    I do not have the space for a rower, nor can I make a lot of noise so I decided to improvise with resistance bands. So I row standing up, kind of doing a partial squat with every row. I use 4 different resistances and try to do series of 100 rows for each, etc. Have you tried such a thing before? Any tips?

  • @crawlerxxx

    @crawlerxxx

    I like your standing row idea! heres a few more ideas... row on the ground by sitting on a skate or something with wheels, or for a bigger challenge furniture sliders. attach the bands to a extensible pull up bar on a door frame at ground level and hook your feet in it. if you put the pull up bar with the bands higher on the door you can do ski erg! try also with two bands one in each hand, have fun :-)

    @@crawlerxxx Problem is when you start adding things it gets noisy and complicated. I have a skateboard but then you need where to strap your feet, but because the resistance bands (or tubes actually) stretch so far you need some distance from the anchor point and then when you have that the seat will move to the sides, then you need a guide for the seat. Soon you need the while contraption! :)

    that's the one where you can attach cords? sounds like it's better to just get a set of resistance bands, but not combine it with a rower. C2 is a great rower, holds it's resale value pretty well, more of a market for used c2 products than for these various other brands.

    By far the most unprofessional customer service person I've ever met. Holly Cheung is a detriment to your company and brand. To have a "supposed" head of customer service talk over the customer, cut them off while speaking, and be so confrontational boggles my mind as to why she would be put in such a position of authority with the public. I've attempted to reach the CEO Andy Hoang without luck.
