He's such a talented drummer and one of the nicest I've ever met. Taking the time to talk with anyone of his fans and honestly it's a quality that lacks in the music scene these days

I've watched this a hundred times and learned how to play this song, yet I'm just now realizing how perfect that last snare hit sounds (to end the song) gotdamn

Now that's what I call MELODIC drumming

Should release an instrumental version of the album. So we can hear the guitars a bit better. And the vocalists would love it

My band got to be one of the three local bands to open of these guys (Lorna Shore and BodySnatchers also played. Plus, it was their first time touring America) but Aversions Crown was amazing as always. I got to meet them after the show. Super cool guys.

So much respect for doing a playthrough with live drums instead of just “playing” over the studio drums which are mostly programmed or over quantized. Mad respect Jay!

To people saying his blast beats are off: you are totally right. My guess is this guy hasn't been a drummer for too long and had to/wanted to learn to play drums in a short time span. I've been playing drums for 17 years and teaching tens of drummers, and I see some signs: inconsistent placement of sticks on his snare drum (bouncing all over the skin, playing more to the side of the snare), pushing his double kick strokes into the drum head instead of relying on skill/mechanism of heel toe, and just terrible tuning of snare and toms. I'm NOT saying this guy is bad drummer, but it seems to me he is just starting out in the field of extreme drumming. Curious to see where his journey will take him though!

it was probably recorded before the album session and then they wanted the album to have consistent production/guitar tones/drum sounds and all that kind of stuff, so they re-recorded it they did the same thing with hollow planet and observer on tyrant

It's simple. There's a single version of Erebus which was released way before the album. And then there's the album version of Erebus. A lot of bands do that. Chelsea Grin did it with Skin Deep, was a single. Then put in the album with updated sounds and tones.

Absolutely! A band can be great in general without the musicians necessarily being highly skilled. I love Pantera always one of my favorites but to say that Vinnie Paul is a highly skilled drummer would just be silly when you look at the talent of the black/death metal scene.

I am deeply disturbed, but for the first time in 6 years, someone who professed as a musician who is so talented, how do you say it is incompetent? Read their lives a little. Listen to how cleverly complex melodic things are playing. They are one of the best bands who can use mathematic

Notice how how he hits the snare on the sides to maximize the rebound. No wonder the blast beats sound so weak without some serious mix/mastering/sampling funny business. Although to their credit, playing full strokes at that speed is inhuman.
