Oh yeah, Josh Brolin was on set like acting out everything with Thanos, which is probably why his facial expressions and movements look so natural. Brolin wore a rig around his head to capture the small details and emotions. He's part CGI but also feels very real and practical. For sure makes one of the better villains in the MCU

The silence at the end was deafening in the cinema. From the snap onwards, there was just a feeling of disbelief. Almost no sound apart from the odd anguished "no....!" or sob when someone's favourite character turned to dust (mostly Groot and Spidey, if I remember correctly).....punctuated with the occasional "fuck!". I've never seen an entire screening worth of people leave the building in near-silence before. It was almost creepy. Anyway, great fun watching with you as always. Looking forward to the rest of the month's viewing. And welcome back, btw

It's not really explained in the movies but the real reason why Hulk doesn't wanna come out is according to the directors is because he is tired of being used as a weapon. It's also part of why Hulk wanted to stay on Sakaar in Thor Ragnarok. Bruce described it as being in the trunk of a car, so imagine Hulk getting stuck in the trunk and every time he comes out, a world ending event is happening and then he is forced back into the trunk.

  • @kevinw.6177

Never thought of that. And I imagine that since the Hulk had 2 years straight with a lot of quiet time rather than a couple hours of non-stop fighting, he actually had time for introspection and even to grow, form connections, and make friends as we see with Valkyrie. He has a calm bed-side chat with Thor. To be stuffed back into the trunk and brought back out to be a mindless brute at that point has to chafe a bit.

The build up for this movie is like nothing else. The trailers and previous movies all building up to this movie is such joy to watch because we get to see all of our favorite heros interact. Still can't believe they killed off Heimdall, Loki, Gamora, Vision, and dusted half of the heros. Hugo Weaving declined to return as Red Skull, so they cast Ross Marquand of "The Walking Dead" to replace him. Not only is Marquand an actor, he's also a celebrity impressionist, and he does a pretty seamless Weaving voice. There's a video on here of him doing celebrity impressions you can find by searching his name. When the movie came out, there was a whole online debate about whether or not the movie was accidentally upholding the idea of abusive relationships by allowing Thanos to kill Gamora in order to get the Soul Stone. I get the concern, but I think it's pretty straightforward; like you say: he believed it, so it works. Vormir is a test of will, not morality or honesty. The trailers for the movie contain some alternate shots of the siege on Wakanda with different heroes charging into battle that were created just for marketing purposes to help preserve some of the movie's secrets. The movie can't fully commit to it because it would short-change the heroes, but I thought it was pretty inspired that with so many stories and character arcs to juggle in one picture, the filmmakers sort of made Thanos into the protagonist and follow his journey as the backbone of the movie. That allows the ending to feel like an ending even if it's a dark one. I remember seeing this in the theaters on opening weekend. You could hear various groups of people crying out when each individual hero turned to dust, and everyone around me was quiet and crying when the movie ended.

according to the writers, Hulk didn't wanna come out cuz he felt Banner was just using him like a weapon after pulling him out to fight Fenrir, then thanos, then the children of thanos. he was tired of being treated like a tool and not a person. unfortunately, since this attitude came up after he lost to thanos, many fans mistakenly assumed hulk was afraid. there was an alternate scene where banner and hulk worked out their problems mid-battle and imo it was a MUCH better scene. they changed it cuz they felt that hulk and banner figuring themselves out in what is meant to be an ultimately tragic ending was too "happy". i disagree, i feel having one moment of good news right before the rug is pulled out from under you would make the bad guy winning even more shocking.

  • @dunringill1747

@@peopleseethis That would be another reason why I really dislike the script's treatment of the Hulk. Classic Comic Book Hulk has had his ass kicked many times. Yeah all of this post-movie, BTS-fueled "the writers said" comments I see do nothing to change the fact that, IN THE STORY, there is no explanation. So, it stands that Hulk got his ass kicked by Thanos and was scared to come back out again. That's how it was on the screen, so that's how it is. Nothing added by people talking about the movie changes the actual product.

Now, imagine how it felt to see this in the theatre. We had to wait I think a year before Endgame came out. When this movie ended it was just silence in the theatre besides the sound of sniffling and crying. It was the saddest experience I ever had seeing a movie in a theatre. You had 100+ people in the same room all just crying or sitting in stunned silence. It was truly an awesome yet tragic feeling that I feel like everyone should have experienced. Ill never forget me and my friends walked out of the theatre, got in the car, and drove for about 10 minutes before we were all composed enough to say anything. It was just pure silence. Then once we started talking about it, it was that stage of grief where you're just trying to find some reason as to why this isnt what you think it is and theorize on how they will all come back, if any of them actually do, at all.

I believe one of the directors for this film was asked and he clarified or confirmed, that when Groot is fading away, his last I Am Groot is him saying to Rocket, "Goodbye Dad". I don't know if that is true or not, but ever since I read that article, everytime I watch that scene of Groot fading away, I hear the voice in my head saying "Goodbye Dad" and it tears me up. This is easily my favorite MCU film. This as far as I'm concerned was the epitome of what this shared universe concept could achieve. We don't need much from each of the individual characters, because we already know them so well, the tension is racheted up to 20 because the film spends so much time dreading what's coming, there is not a wasted scene (that I can think of), we have three separate battles and storylines that all converge, the pacing is almost perfect. I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about this movie (except for maybe Peter beating Thanos out of his coma. Couldn't they think of another way that the plan goes awry?)

THAT is what made him worthy of becoming Captain America, the reason Dr. Abraham Erskine chose him to receive the serum. The spot in the big battle where Groot, " I am Groot." Steve who could rightfully respond with his moniker of Captain America humbly responds with, "I am Steve Rogers." This shows how right Errskin was for choosing Steve, the one who remains true to his heart through everything. Even though he started as a 95-pound weakling, he did not puff up to become a bully when he gained muscle and strength. Just goes to show how strong and powerful he is even without them. And second is that part at the end with Captain America vs Thanos. We see Thanos beat the Hell out of both Hulk and Thor back-to-back without breaking a sweat yet Cap going all out and using his full potential is able to hold off and stop Thanos with 5 of the stones dead in his tracks for a few seconds. Hands down the biggest flex in the entire franchise.

Avoiding spoilers for this one was really difficult. I will never understand why people feel the need to spoil things for others. I can't watch movies when they come out (well, I guess I could, but it's rude). Because of my Tourette's, I can be very disruptive to other people watching. So, me and my dad always have to wait a few weeks and go to a midnight showing when it's most likely the theatre will be empty. But this movie had a lot of repeat viewers. Every time we called my cousin to ask about the crowds there were still a decent number of people going to the shows. With the bigger gap between the premiere and our chance to see it, I got a few little things spoiled in spite of my best efforts. I knew Thanos killed Vision, and I knew that Quill did SOMETHING to screw things up (but not what he did or how it screwed things up). I liked the guardian movies myself, but Gamora was the one character on the Guardians crew that I didn't care about, so her death didn't phase me. But at the end, with everyone disintegrating to dust, that part shook me. I was expecting Thanos to lose at the end, but not to be defeated. Basically, as I watched, I came to the theory that Thanos would get the first five stones, the heroes would extract the sixth stone from vision, but something would happen to Wanda and they wouldn't be able to destroy it. So, they'd have to run and hide with the stone. So, Thanos would win the battle, but lose the last stone. And then Endgame would be about Thanos coming for that last stone. Of course, I was wrong. But I never thought they would kill off half of the characters in the MCU. I was pretty sure at least one or two would die and be gone for good, but not so many deaths! Anyway, looking forward to your final thoughts on this one. So here we go! ✌🤓

I ponder strange things. Like I'd figure that every Dr Strange in every alternate universe/alternate future, would do the same peeking into all the alternate futures to see which ones they win in and how. And would all emulate those to get the same outcome. Thus having no or fewer alternate futures they fail in. Barring those that for some reason Strange doesn't have the time stone to do so, and being unable to emulate a similar future due to things that were already different in that universe. Such as not being able to sacrifice the time stone to save Tony if in the alternate universe Tony was already dead for somre reason, or was not Iron Man. Just weird thoughts I think of.

Overall I liked this movie but I prescribe to Stan Lee's method of writing to respect all his characters. That wasn't done here. Both Banner & Hulk were written poorly, out of character, and brushed aside. - Banner is a top tier intellect, not some goofy sidekick used for cheap laughs. - Hulk was feeling used and resisted coming forth. Very different than the Hulk that actually enjoys cutting loose against foes that can take a well deserved beat down. - Banner was given a sidekick victory using the tech both he and Tony had developed. He should have been working with Shuri on Vision. Instead, he was deemed useless as the brunt of an "I'm smarter than you" joke and tossed out on the field.
