People are blowing this out of proportion. The report which says that there were 28 returning characters in Avengers: Endgame is wrong. The number is actually 65. This has already been done and quite successfully. Of course the new movie could suck, but we've seen this many characters return before and work. how come nobody can actaully read up to 60 chacrters COULD reprise INCLUDING EVERYONE FROM (list of actors) is the wording really that hard to understand, yeah everyone in on the table but nobody is locked

This Shawn Levy-Avengers thing is the same PR stunt we saw with Andy Muschietti and Batman last year…

They got all the new Disney plus characters, returning Netflix defenders, f4, X-men, Clea, eternals, America Chavez, and maybe variants like Tobey or Andrew

Honestly, this is a gut-punch for me. It says to me that Marvel haven't learned anything from the last two years of sub-par entries in the MCU. Just adding more characters isn't going to necessarily make the movie any good. Frankly, it sounds like they've come up with the gimmick of having as many characters as they can, and are now going to find a way to make it work. They don't need to make every movie bigger than the last. I'd much rather have a nice tight narrative with only six core characters. Don't forget, most of the characters haven't met any of the others yet.

I don’t need a movie with 60 Characters. I just need a good movie.

Getting to 60 is easy…. They said 60 mcu characters, that’s doesn’t mean main characters. So since we’ve had A LOT of movies, A LOT of shows. If we count ALL the characters in that, we can get to a lot more than 60 if we have to.

What I don't like MCU right now, is how poorly they understand the foundation of any franchise is not about big crossovers but good stories and characters first. Infinity War and Endgame were huge hit was because people love and cared OGs. They love Iron Man, Captain America and many others, so it was existing. Now, many people don't even care about new characters. Especially those so called second generation, No one Talks about them at all, they still like Iron Man and Captain America. You can throw 600 characters and people still feel bored because they are not enjoyable at all.

This is not surprising considering the amount of people Endgame had, plus all of phase 4 and phase 5 characters that were introduced the last 3 years.

Well if you take Hickman's storyline into account and apply it to the MCU then that 60 number really isn't that surprising. I was always expecting Fox characters fighting the MCU characters trying to keep their respective universes alive only to fail and have the Battleworld created in the aftermath for Secret Wars.

I just REALLY hope they concentrate on making a great story, rather than “how can we top the portal scene”

Facts

I hope they introduce some of the Disney+ characters as pre-established Avengers. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and so on. They can also introduce other Avenger characters on-screen without giving them dialogue. Beast, Rogue, Wolverine (some dialogue), White Vision, Wonder Man, Jocosta, Photon, She Hulk, Tigra, and so on. At least having the visual of them shows that the MCU thinking of its fans.

None of this matters without a great script.

There's easily 50ish mcu characters in endgame or more. This is not news.

@@andrewleblanc9836 glad someone agreed. The next Avengers will have many characters like InfinityWar/Endgame. Avengers 1 and 2 did not have 50ish characters to be great., this worries me because I feel like this Multiverse Phase has had no huge advancement on the next set of "Avengers" yet.

The problem with the new phase, is that we dont know who the leaders are. There were two clear leaders in the beginning.. cap and iron man and a clear villian... We dont know who's in charge and who's the villian and a bunch of confusing multiverse stuff 😊

It might be Avengers Secret Wars part 1, and it's the multiverse, so they might split up into teams fighting different variants of Kang in different universes.

Infinity war and endgame had about 60 characters. Remember not every character is a superhero (like pepper pots, thors mother, Howard stark etc.). So it makes sense that avengers 5 would be of that scale. I think secret wars will all be all superheroes/villains. Since there won’t be enough room for non hero characters. So I’d imagine a total of 70-80 characters in Secret Wars

Really bad feelings about this, marvel should focus on good stories

You guys are overlooking how many people may be introduced in Deadpool & Wolverine. We’re thinking most will be cameos but some may be set up for future films, including Avengers films.

As John says, its somewhat disingenuous for anyone to claim Endgame had 35 characters. The main cast was really just: Tony, Cap, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, Antman, Thanos, Nebula, and then maybe Rocket at a stretch. Everyone else had maybe 1 or 2 lines of dialog, if even that.

John: I don’t think they’re going to try to do what Joss Whedon did in the first Avengers where you take these core characters and you give them all equal time and make them each shine. Actually, I think that’s what they SHOULD do. I might be in the minority but I always said that the next Avengers after Avengers: Endgame should go back to the small scale of that first 2012 film. Choose 6 or 7 members and make a movie about this new team. Trying to go bigger than Infinity War and Endgame is UNREALISTIC.

I would say Shawn Levy is street tier hero. I’d wait until this movie comes out. Remember how Flash had Tom Cruise talking great about the movie as well as some people who saw it early cried.

when the avengers started, there are a lot problems concerning rights of the characters, sony and fox for example, knowing it's hard to get all the rights until 2020 or so, the avengers movie series was somehow rushed i think, that now in the present, they are having a lot character issues and how they will deal of each character storyline... my only concern are the writing, directing...plus the CGI...

The word overkill springs to mind.

Its characters not main characters so 60 is stuff all. Civil War had 24 main and side characters. Thor movies had another 23 that weren't in Civil War. Guardians another 25 Spiderman 22 Then there is all the other movie and tv series characters. Well over 100 characters to choose from just in the main timeline.

Main thing to consider is characters range not just from heroes. But like Kamala is one and then you have her family. Shang Chi and his sister are two, and then you have their family and his friends family members. Then it all depends leading up to it how many new characters we see prior and will also make a return. Clearly it'll be a huge movie but the question is will this be way to packed

What this also makes you wonder, if Feige is already asking him to direct, and already has an idea of how many characters, could it possibly be because he sees how many characters he put in Deadpool and Wolverine and how well it can be executed

@@Jayjs20 Only people who weren't paying attention or don't know the comics failed to understand the plot to Phase 4. Over half of everything released has a reference to Hickman's run of Secret Wars. It was primarily just to get people used to the idea of multiverses before they start making things go crazy.

Since we’re dealing with multiverse stuff I’m gonna guess that half of that 60 will be normal MCU characters and the other half are gonna be like multiverse variants of them, like Hulk with the power of Thor, Tony Stark as Doctor Strange etc. we’re definitely gonna get the normal returning characters as well but they’re gonna be interlaced with a bunch of fun, crazy variant versions as well

I don't think 60 is that hard to imagine. They'll have the SHIELD people, Ms Marvel and her family, the Guardians, new and old, and the Ravagers, all the Avengers, Shang-Chi and his supporting cast, the Eternals, a bunch of Asgardians, etc.

To be fair, I genuinely believe that Sean Leavy has more misses and hits. He makes mostly B movies. Which is fine it’s what he does. I think a lot of people just want something special and his name attached to. It doesn’t attach a lot of confidence.

Tbh 60 for the MCU is not a lot, there are so many C and D list characters that will probably have a quick appearance and there will be cameos etc. And what about characters that recurring but not necessarily heroes? You could reach 60 no problem tbh. But it is far too many to keep track of. Everyone is a bloody hero now. I'm sure they'll focus on a few core handful of characters for the story link Endgame or we follow different groups like in Infinity War.

Include X-Men/Mutants, and that number is easy to hit.

So - I forget what Avengers 5 is now - since it's not Kang anymore, but I'm guessing it'll be something like this: 'Core Team' - 6-10 characters. Support to the team - another 5-10 (decent screen time and interaction with main characters) Rest - 2-3 scenes, and my guess will be more like what you see in some comic panels and a lot of the animated stuff when something really big happens where you sort of see quick bits of fighting everywhere. So - we know Daredevil is canon to the MCU, so it could be say him, She-Hulk, and anyone else on the West Coast at the moment (unless Matt went back to NY) fighting there, Spidey and others in NY, toss the Eternals in wherever, a scene of fighting in Wakanda that covers them - etc, where all told they maybe get 5 -10 minutes, give or take with some character interactions among themselves but that's about it.

I really think people are overblowing this. Infinity War and Endgame probably had just as much (if not more) yet people are acting like this movie is already fucked. Did everyone forget about the portal scene in Endgame? People hear anything about a movie they think will be shit and think “oh, that’s the sign that it’s fucked”

Not every character in infinity war/ endgame was a hero or villain. We essentially had 60 characters in those when you think about Howard stark, Thors mom, etc. I don’t think the report is 60 heroes/villains necessarily. I think that’s more in the range of 30-40

They need to focus on F4 and X-Men and build up interesting smaller scale films for new interesting characters for a new Avengers movies and hire actors with some personality that can market those films. MCU movies writing is a hit or miss but the actors carried it and their chemistry. I doubt they will take their time and build up good stories.

@@RossHarpin if the rumors are going to be true its going to be a bunch of variants from ALL of the previous marvel movies just like what is happening in Deadpool 3 just on a bigger scope. Not everyone is going to be standing in front of the camera talking. It would be more like the Endgame battle scene where you see people fighting but they dont say anything or do anything besides throw punches and get hit.

If it was for Secret Wars ig it would make sense, but just for Avengers 5??! I can't imagine the amount for Secret Wars, & would they be able to afford that much (not including side characters, writers, cgi, etc)? Idk how to feel about this honestly.😕

We're coming in at the end of the multiversal saga. Of course there's gonna be a ridiculous amount of characters and variants. Bet on them adapting the latest Incursions storyline leading up to Secret Wars. Also bet on a bunch of Fox/Sony/Netflix Characters finally making their debut in proper MCU. Heck I even expect Henry Cavill as Sun God in the Great Society.

An Xmen x MCU cross over like the fighting games could be amazing. It's cool to me that just the X-men alone have more than 60 Characters. You could put X-men up against anything in comics. Because of their diversity and endless potential powers, they are the best, imho. With that said it's Xmen= Captain America= Bale Batman > Anything
