I really don't get it too. At least he should be nominated, the direction to tell his story (which is simple) is impeccable. There are many films that do not have a good direction as candidates.

I think Cameron is getting the same treatment as Villenueve, director of Dune. The Academy knows there are more installments to come, meaning more opportunities to nominate the director. So they’re not as pressured into giving him the nomination right away and instead will save it for the final or close to final installment

Because there are more nominee slots for Best Picture than for Best Director and those extra slots tend to go for more mainstream films like A2.

Avatar is a good reminder that you should not let social media dictate how good a movie is. I went to see The Way of Water and Babylon back to back, and they were both awesome in their own way. The way "family" is treated in Avatar is so well done, the interactions are on point. There absolutely is a story in the movie, and it's a beautiful yet tragic one. Thank you to everyone who worked on the movie

I believe those people on social media dont know a good movie from a bad movie. And some people are like that.
the only movie that i have had arguments with stupid people saying it was nothing special....i dont even understand people sometimes. This is my favorite movie i have ever seen. Greatest theater experience. Greatest visuals. Fun story with insane action! Cant wait for the next 3!!!!

All that hype.....and we get no story from director like cameron? we need to be honest with ourselves, even I was so excited all these years....Yes vfx, visuals are top notch. but I would suggest you the films from Indian Cinema....Kantara, RRR and Bahubali 1, 2 see the unbelievable story telling from the makers, even without this much budget, low tech visuals.

People keep acting like its a bad thing to have great visuals and a simple script..but james cameron has stated himself that that was the whole idea. He wasnt trying to make some tenet level bullshit. Honestly none of his films are exactly complicatedXD My issue is, why do people hate on a simple script so much? is that litterally all people can come up with to hate on it?

@@connorcoco2152Oh man. Then you have not met the twitter and tiktok Avatar community. Or the fandom at all. It's the small details in the character's interactions, clothing, and background that make them stand out. We are basically mourning Neteyam - the oldest son. And to be fair, Avatar 2 & 3 were supposed to be one movie so it makes sense that this one feels unfinished. Cameron even said the notes for the fourth script only received a "holy f*ck!" So I'm confident that the next movies will be much better.
Saw it twice, 3 of my siblings saw it 5 times between them. Masterpiece and well deserved.

The best graphics in the history of cinema!!
I've watched it 8 times now each time I've cried at the end, and each time, im taken away by how amazing it is. I listen to all the soundtracks too some of them are so calming and have great ambience. I can't wait for the next one!!
Saw it for the 4th time yesterday! Still just as mesmerizing. Will definitely catch at least one more showing before it leaves theaters. At that point, it'll be the second most times I've seen a movie in theaters. In first place is the first Avatar haha. Watched that 10 times in its primary theatrical run...and saw it an 11th time in its most recent re-release.
im going to watch it two more times in cinema :)

It's so well deserved! It's a wonderful world/story i will never get enough from. Congrats to everyone who worked on the movie because it truly is a masterpiece. I have no doubt the sequels are even going to be better and i can not wait for them! Also I love how avatar is becoming one of the biggest franchises again!

Went to see this twice, once with my Uncle to end my 2022 to a great end, the 2nd being with my mom to start my New Year off right. I'm itching to see it again soon b/c I'm drawn into the story so much it's one of those movies I could watch over and over. I watched the first non extended edition on DVD over 30 times and never got bored. When this movie comes to Bluray, it'll be the best 6hrs of my day watching the extended edition and The Way of Water.
