Some patterns you'll see in Sokka's & Katara's characters: Sokka is "glass half empty": always the rational guy, he's rather pessimistic and doesn't trust people immediately. Katara on the other hand is "glass half full": a hopeful person, very optimistic and tend to trust people all too quickly - but if her trust is betrayed it's not easy to earn it back.
