6:27 The Earth King mistaking Sokka as the Avatar is a detail I really appreciate. Because the Earth King was raised to believe there was no war, he thinks the Avatar cycle would have moved on to the Water Tribe by now.

Team avatar’s raid of the palace is easily one of my favorite action sequence in the whole series! I love watching them work together, the animation is amazing, and you have to admit, a bunch of kids successfully infiltrating a heavily guarded palace is very impressive!

The Earth King himself is a reference to real-life Emperor Puyi, the last emperor of China. The Earth King's name Kuei means either "chief" or "puppet" in Chinese (depending on which character you use) and like Kuei, Puyi wore glasses (because of an eye disease), never left his palace, and was a puppet of the Japanese govt during WWII.
