It’s hard to believe that this video is the better part of 20 years old. So many of us remember when these were brand new, and it doesn’t seem that long ago. GM dropped the ball when they discontinued the Avalanche, it was a great concept and it was well-executed. I’m guessing that they realize that, since the upcoming Silverado EV is essentially a modern-day Avalanche in everything but name.

I wish they remade the Avalanche. Not the EV Crap... They released the avalanche at the wrong time, Discontinued cause they couldn't recover after what happened to the Stock Market

I've got an extremely clean Escalade EXT. I absolutely love this truck. My gutters are cracked and getting a little water in the bed. This video really helped. Extensive engineering. Thanks for posting this!!

@@RetroVideoArchive Do you think it's a good choice? In Russia, this is a very rare car. Everyone looks like a dinosaur. Not everywhere is ready to repair. And there are no body parts at all!

Welp... crap. Here I am in 2021, having purchased an 06 Escalade EXT... which I just assumed was a well thought out machine that wouldn't Niagra Falls my stuff in the bed area. Yet here on Xmas morning I go out to check how the stuff that I used to keep in the back of my Tahoe, now in the back of my EXT is wet or not, due to it being a miserable rainy day... And... well.. yeah. Waterfalls at every single panel gap. Every container I had in the bed is literally full of water, everything in them ruined. Lost a lot of money in buying the ext, and now even more money in losing a bunch of expensive specialty tools, items, presents, etc. Yay.... and to boot, my drivers floor gets saturated levels of pond like soaked when driving in even a slight mist. yaaaaaay. . . And this thing is literally mint, with sub 100K on the clock, perfect body, showroom fresh undercarriage, perfect floor pans, seals look great.... Just seems to be an absolute abhorrent design is all.... Here I thought it was special due to being made for so few years, but it's more like its a piece of rancid trash that they couldn't get right for those few years, so they gave up. Yaaaaaaay. Merry xmas... YAAAAY ME. Gotta love that outro though. . . "We've just discussed the Avalanche and Escalade EXT water ingress system, and how it fails pretty much every second of every day... and how you spent $50,000 + on a vehicle, which will never keep you, your passengers, or your cargo dry at ANY point in ANY time EVER... and lastly, when you do suffer water ingress... IT'S YOUR FAULT, never ours... thank you, now fk yourself" .

I’m in the same boat, 05 z71. I can’t wait to reseal everything and get the beast back in good condition. The last owner used it to haul dirt and mulch so it’s packed with debris and won’t drain properly. Lots of vacuuming and washing to do but videos like this help tremendously.

Thanks for the upload It's all fun until 20 year later most seals are dry, panels are sagging ... Mine is leaking from everywhere, including the windshield, the sunroof drain tube itself, the bed is almost a swimming pool. This was way over engineering and probably good for the first few years, I've own older vehicle with less leaks

Happens to all vehicles eventually. First you go to the aftermarket, then modified parts from similar vehicles, finally you're fabricating parts from current generic supplies
