    I recently upgraded from GemPro 250 to the A&D FX120i and auto trickler from .......WOW !!!! I'm very impressed, it takes about 15minutes to charge 50 cases Great set up, Thanks Adam !! Cambridge Environmental sells the whole package too, good folks to deal with up there in Canada and they had the be$t price

    I've ordered fx300i. I was looking for ideas on how to place my hand trickler next to the scale, you gave me the idea to mount it! Plus that auto trickler electrics etc is inspired. Might look into it. I was planning on using scale to verify and trickle up if required, powder throws from Frankford Arsenal Intellidropper...

    Hi Adam, Nice bit of work adapting this to reloading. I have been dabbling in some arduino projects and have most of the bits to build one including the A&D scale. What did you use for the serial interface? I have an RS232 shield too and interested in the code, but that would be too much to ask. Thanks for posting the video.

    Thanks. It is straightforward RS232 to the Arduino.

    I recently began looking into doing something like this with my Sartorius GD-503 and an Arduino. I'm curious if you are planning on doing some more in-depth segments on the programming and assembly?

    Adam, you ever think about adapting a chargemaster dispenser with a omega trickler to fully automate this? The serial port connector can't be that complicated. Also, some scales have a bottom hook which might facilitate a a Prometheus style mechanical drop.

    +Bob Washere Hi, I used to have a Hornady dispenser and I would not have wanted to use any part of that. Maybe the chargemaster is better. My system right now runs about 1 grain per second so it's not a crazy idea to let it run the whole charge, but scooping the partial charge is much faster. If it could run even faster, and I made a larger hopper for the trickler, maybe that would be an idea.

    +Adam MacDonald what about using an omega trickler. Wouldn't this be a cheaper route vs RCBS trickler, stepper motor and pulley?

    +Adam MacDonald it would be good to have a hands free mode. I've recently converted to a Dillon 550 and have reached rediculously low and consistent run out. The only aspect slowing down my loads is charge drops.

    +Bob Washere The stepper gives you the variable speed control that is much more difficult with a DC motor. What do you mean hands free? Mount the scale on top of the press and have it drop directly in? I've thought of this but it seems like quite a project.

    Does this suffer with clumped kernels in the trickler spout resulting in over charges like the RCBS Chargemaster? Also, have you thought about integrating the Omega Trickler?

  • @AutoTrickler

    The spout has threads to help with flow and usually drops 1-2 kernels at slowest speed. The system is able to reach the target +/- 1 kernel most of the time.

    Really cool, use of an omega trickler possibly?

    Thanks. The stepper running at truly variable speed is an advantage over a DC motor with two speeds. Its possible to integrate the Omega mechanical parts but that's more expensive than thr RCBS trickler and new 3D printed mount.

    Hi Adam.. Did you using PID to control the stepper motor speed?

  • @AutoTrickler

    @AutoTrickler

    7 жыл бұрын

    No, steppers are very well controllable so there's no need for any oscillation prevention like with DC motors. There is some acceleration to prevent immediate speed changes, and the speed vs. weight remaining curve is tested experimentally.
