Well done sir! On this side of the pond we would call the test you performed with the graduated tubes an "injector return" test, and would monitor fuel flow over a short period of time, typically 15 seconds for a Duramax, looking for a maximum permissible flow. Unfortunately, on my truck, an LB7, accessing individual cylinder lines would be a pia, but checking each bank of four would not be too difficult. I question why a balance check and a return check would be necessary to diagnose a bad injector(s). Whether the problem is internal or at the nozzle, the injector merits R&R either way, so why the extra effort? I luved your reference to a "virtual compression test" using the crank position sensor to look for differences in cranking speed among the cylinders (injection disabled, of course). Elegant!
Very good! Many tnx! I learned a lot
this man knows his onions!
I operate a small Irish service centre and have learned a lot from your dvd series. in relation to a scan tool Im now at the cross roads where I need to invest in a higher level machine, In all your videos the autologic seems to be your choice, can you advise on its similarities between the Snap-on solus pro and the autologic. I use a 4 channel pico scope for graphing data. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
