AutoDesk Inventor 2021 Creating a String Pulley Assembly Tutorial

This video will walk the user through a simple pulley string (rope) example in AutoDesk Inventor 2021. We will be using adaptive modeling techniques and motion constraints to achieve the desired results.

Good video for sure, showing how to animate this with a driven constraint. But what people also really want to know is how to simulate in dynamic simulation, a rope over a pulley, pulling something. Very, very little guidance on this. Inventor should be able to easily simulate all 6 of the 'simple machines'. Right now, this is not possible. But Autodesk wants to be in every high school and college, so they are inviting very novice students and these students will certainly be studying the simple machines. I've waited a decade for this to be addressed!

Hi, I've been looking for a real dynamic simulation of a rope over a pulley, pulling something on Inventor for several days now. Did you finally find a solution ?

Hello... Is there a way to animate a lathe in Inventor? Specifically, I'd like to animate the threading of a metal cylinder. Thanks!

Hi would you like to make a tutorial to know how much force or torque do we need to move our design? Thanks

I have been thinking about your question for a day or two now. Our model or any model that uses string or rope or something flexible is really only using magic to make it move like it does in the video, there really isnt any forces on the model, or those forces are not what is making the model move. I am going to work on a thought to do what you are asking, i think we can accomplish that with real forces but i will need a little time to figure out how best to approach this problem due to the flexible nature of the rope.

Is there motion constraint "translation-translation"? For example, if something moves 10 mm, something else to move 5 mm?

There currently is not translate to translate motion constrain, just rotate rotate, or rotate - translate. Using parameters would be the only way to accomplish this. Set up a variable such as distance = 10, and set that to drive , then set up the second part to with distance/2 . Once the first part is driven the second part would move have the distance.

Hi, Morrison...! How are you? My name is João Carvalho. I am Portuguese. I would like to congratulate you for the very interesting tutorial videos that you hve posted on this very useful channel called KZread. Thank you very much. I have a question about an Asssembly and animation work that I made a long time ago and I think you can help me finish it. I'm talking about a Wenkel Rotary Engine. I drew all the pieces and assembled them. However, I had some difficulty to animate it properly. As I think you know, this Wenkel Rotary Engine`s Rotor has two types of rotation (like the Earth around the Sun - Rotation and Translation) and I do not know how to make the restrictions to achieve this type of rotational movement...! Could you please help with that...? Thank you in advance and I leave here my best wishes for: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Sincerely from Portugal: João Carvalho.

Hello, again, Morrison! First of all, I would like to thank you for responding to my message. Thank you very much. Secondly, I want to say that I made this project in Inventor and then (to try to be successful ...) I made it in Fusion 360 ...! As you know, Fusion 360 works in the cloud and I don't know what you can do with it. I can export to Inventor 2019 (the only possibility available in the program ...) and send it to you. However, I think the files will come to you with some access limitations. So, please tell me which option is best for you and at the same time, tell me how to attach the files here because I never did that before ...!? I reiterate my thanks for your availability. My best regards: João Carvalho.
