Autocar ACX Heil Rapid Rail Garbage Truck

Here we have a brand new Heil Rapid Rail on an Autocar ACX chassis (actually, three of them) fueled by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). These beauties are run by Republic Services, in the Corvallis, OR area. In this video, two are seen collecting garbage, and the third collecting yard waste, in the small town of Monroe, OR. I used to se this particular truck in my old neighborhood on garbage sometime compost except the ZR does compost and the famous Mcneilus auto reach on recycling.
I really like the arm on 2457 the best. These rapid rails are nice and smooth

Except the rapid rail that did garbage at the time was truck 2457 as mentioned (and shown) in the video

Wow interesting to see that the first one was left hand driven even when there is a right hand side. Driver must be used to LH drive. Nice catches!

Great video. I am curious to know what is the purpose/function of the large rectangular box on top of the body?

The box in top of the body houses the Compressed Natural Gas tanks. Because it takes a greater volume of Natural Gas than diesel to run these trucks, they require larger tanks. Typically, the only place that he tanks will fit is atop the roof. However, some body manufacturers are starting to develop alternatives, such tanks that mount to the tailgate or between the cab and body instead.

Tons not cans buddy. About 8-10 and if you try really hard, 13 tons

@@DanielWDonuts órale muchas gracias. The guys I work with rise the body and slam on brakes! I’m to chicken to do that! Just want to be safe I’m getting 8 tons on trash in about 3 1/2 hours. I’m new to this business and supervisor wants me to put in more. Another thing these HEIL suck on green stuck gets stuck on the top after about 2 tons. Sorry about the gripe.
