You cant beat solido detail at solido price range, the outside look of the car is just too incredible, almost like high end diecast model.

I disagree. Back in 2012, i bought my at Amazon for 74,99€. So compare to the original price, there is no point to buy the Solid Model.
Autoart looks like a real car. The paint job alone makes it worth the price. Solido is not bad but just not the same.

very good explanation, but at least there is something for everyone, whoever has money buys the autoart and whoever does not have enough and is a collector can have at least one model at a low price 👍🏻

Solido know how to make more detail with less cost and price. He cut cost by making only two opening features , by doing that they can cut cost for making the detail for engine and trunks and focus on making as much detail as they can for the interior and outside look of the car.

I would typically buy Autoart, but ever since buying a Solido I've been regularly doing so, simply because they make very good quality pieces for the price paid, plus it gives me a chance to improve them myself.

@@modelcarshoustonGood Lord, what a nerd you are man.
I think it's wonderful that they have this option. If you want to still enjoy this hobby but don't have as much money, you can still enjoy it by purchasing the more affordable models. If you have the money you can splurge on the more expensive model. I think it's so cool that there is options for all enthusiasts.

Love the content! I just bought a skyline r34 1/18 from your website and im very exited to see how it looks in real life.
Nice video! A comparison between this composite one and the older full diecast body release R34 from autoart would be pretty good if possible!
Im more than happy that there are many options. Al collector of few things (lego, figures and die cast) I’m happy that at least here we can get very good model for cheap price

I like that there is an offering for a model that is priced lower, but with less details / features. Solida's details appear good, and if you don't mind a model where you cannot see under the hood., hence a less interactive model, but all the good looks of the car., but truly you get what you pay for with Autoart, who offers some of the finest details I have ever seen on a model car. I was blown away when I saw one in person. Some models i would not mind not being able to open the hood or the trunk. Glad to have Solida around!
I used to be able to buy AUTOart for $60 and got two R34s before they skyrocketed the price. Regular street in midnight purple and a S-Tune. Midnight purple came in a plastic cradle box and the S-Tune in a foam box.
The V-Spec II GTR has the naca duct in the hood. The base GTR and the V-Spec both do not. The GT-T is not a GTR model. While the base Skyline is either a GT (non Turbo 2L to 2.5L inline six) or a GT-T (2.5L inline six with a single turbo), the GTR has a different chassis and a 2.6L Twin Turbo six cylinder. The GT and GT-T where offered in RWD with AWD optional as well as coupe and 4-door, the GTR was AWD coupe only.

Perfect explanation! Thank you!
Both are great models for their prices, if you want good quality for a cheaper price go for the Solido but if you like a little more expensive and detailed model go for the AutoArt those details, grills and of course the tires are amazing
Nice vid! I've been an autoart collector for almost 15 yrs and I do like the older models since they were mostly comprised of diecast. I do like the great detail on the autoart, its the price that always keeps me away from alot of models. I recently got the Nismo R34 GT-R Z-tune in Midnight Purple III and its very cool!

There was a time when you could call AUTOart as a good quality diecast at a reasonable price. I think they came from UT Models? Still got a few of those especially the cop cars. Most of the AUTOart race cars were sealed except Porsche. It was rumored the CEO was a Porsche fan and demanded they don't make them sealed. I was lucky to get a lot of Dealer Editions while AUTOart still had a contract with the car manufacturers and before they skyrocketed the price. Funny thing is, one of the DE cars was a BMW and only later did I see it was actually a Kyosho lol.
I think I will buy a solid model.soon, a millennium jade R34. But for me when I get it I would look at the details then detail it myself; flock the carpets and rear seats, paint the windows and outline the headlights, possibly new taillights. just to make it my own and make it look that much cooler
Wow! I have the Autoart model in Midnight Purple.

Amazing job by Solido, it looks so good that from a glance it looks like an Autoart
Good video
orange front turns = 1999 model year. the hood duct indicates it is a vspec 2 (2001-2002)
solido is a good deal with that price, but if you have money ,prefer Autoart

The only complains for solido from me are: -No seatbelts -frequently inaccurate proportions (supra, etc) -iffy qc (from personal exp) However, I guess they are expected for the price. The only "good" budget r34 was the motormax one, but it was long ago. Not to mention it's a motorex lhd one.
I'm super new to this hobby, I really want to get a quality model made from metal that doors, hood, etc opens. Is there a manufacturer that produces such?
Definitely, as a collector that I am, it will take me a lifetime to understand how there are people who stop collecting Autoart just because they are made of composite. It is stupid to complain that they are light or fragile, because first of all a scale model must always be treated with care, they are not Tonkas or Hoy Wheels so they cannot be handled carefully. Secondly, composite is the solution to the usual problem with metal, paintrash. I don't need my model to weigh like a block of cement to have more "value", for a serious collector detail at its highest level should be important. People need to know better the benefits of composite and resin over the metal.

Quality over quantity. That said, the solido is pretty good, details and proportions of the model seem fine for its price point. The only thing which is killing me are the horrendous headlights, they are killing me.

I’ve got a 1:24 scale Maisto R34 GTR and I’m really sucked up with it ... The Maisto is actually out of the aerodynamics and other features too . However in my country the price of them are very high . I bought the Maisto R34 for 8K rupees whereas a Solido R34 costs about 17,000 rupees and Autoart is available for 35,000Rupres 😢
Well i am going to buy the solido over the autoart model purely due to the price differences. However i am not completely satisfied with the interior detail of the solido so i will mod/customize it. I will add carpets and material to creat a more premium feel.
I'd invest in autoart

Can't go wrong there!
Very few people will be able to afford big collections in the AUTOart price range, but likewise, very few people will not be able to afford a single model in the AUTOart price range, and that, I think, is the key: every collector will have a few extreme favorites (cars you may have owned yourself or dream of buying one day), but will also like cars in general, or maybe just certain types of cars. So the logical way to build a collection is to go Solido price-range for non-special cars, and then spend the extra on the few special ones. So both the Solido and the AUTOart are fully justified and serve a purpose. As long as the quality is "decent" (which it certainly is on the Solido, although the orange-peel paintwork finish is a problem), it'll fit well into any collection.

I stopped buying Autoart when they went to composite, even though I did compare my diecast AE86 to the composite AE86. I did see that the lines are cleaner and more flush with the composite model. But paying such a premium and the car does not even feel like a paper weight. I just have a hard time spending the premium price on it.
@pdcichosz

Resin is also light on its own, but Ottos for example have such ridiculous weight added that they are heavier than most diecast models 😂 I understand the appeal, but it's completely superficial. That being said, I had a composite Aventador which obviously benefitted from going composite shape wise and... I've returned it and got the diecast one instead. Apart from flaws and shortcomings of that specific example I hated interacting with it, especially trying to close the engine lid. I did get a Diablo and Huracan though and they look amazing. I wish they stayed with diecast, but at least there are some benefits of switching to plastic. Agree on the price though, I had a really hard time justifying the purchases I made. The likes of Motorhelix, AR or LCD show that you can make a very good body shape using metal. Aa should just be cheaper.
I had the Solido R34, it looked good in pictured and from far, but it's such a dissapointment in your hands. The model feels so flimsy, cheap and light. Mine didn't even close its doors properly. It looks decent but it doesn't have a lot of details. One big downside is the lack of opening hood and trunk. I don't think you get what you pay for, yes it is cheap, but I feel even cheaper brands like Bburago and Maisto offer better quality cars. That being said, Solido's strong point seems to be race cars, those do offer a lot of interior and exterior details, with the rollcage, wires and buttons you get on race car interiors, you can forgive not being able to see the engine and mechanics. My final veredict on Solido 1/18 models: subpar road cars, awesome race cars. Oh, by the way, Solido made the 1999 regular R34 GT-R, compared to the 2001 V-Spec II from Autoart, that's why there's some differences, like the air duct in the hood and the color of the turn signals.

Solido seems basic under, more of a generic bottem. The Auto Art has front drive shaft, so its for a AWD car.
NACA duct, not vent. Missed the BIGGEST point... which paint is closer to factory?
@modelcarshouston
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. Definitely the AUTOart for paint.
With everything, paying extra for higher quality and functionality is a matter of diminishing returns. Twice the quality costs more more than twice as much, to the point that at the top, slightly better quality comes with a huge price increase. So everyone has to arbitrarily draw the line based on their expectations and budget. We're lucky that there's a global demand large enough to support products made at so many price points. That's the beauty of capitalism. As to diecast vs. resin, I buy models based on their quality and accuracy, so weight isn't important to me. As far as accuracy, the weight of a resin model is far more realistic than diecast. After all, a life-sized diecast R34 would probably weigh a totally unrealistic ten tons. So, I would have no problem displaying a 1:18 Auto Art R34 right next to my Tamiya 1:18 Gordon Murray T.50 when I finish it.
