I would love this for rock climbing or even parkour but it's way out of my price range on etsy and I would have to hook a different activation method as I need my hands to move freely while climbing

I started getting scared for your toe's at 5 minutes. The auto hook is looking incredibly durable.

Out of curiosity do you believe your device could hold your weight if you used it to climb ? , I ask because your device is extremely similar to the Hook blade in Assassins Creed : Revelations which it's sole purpose was to extend an assassin's reach , and to aid an aging assassin's ability to climb buildings , the reason why I bring this up is because awhile ago a youtuber that is a fan of the series built their own version , it was a very crude design (It was more like they strapped a crowbar to their wrist) but worked beautifully when it was tested to see if it could achieve the same feats as it's game counterpart. Sadly the video and channel is no longer up but believe me their version worked , all i"m wondering is if yours can do the same without bending or breaking because while yours is more compact ( and overall just looks way cooler.) I fear its not as strong because it's extra moving parts and how hollow it is.

How do you power it? Like what applies the force to make it extend?

Not sure yet, making this up as I go along. Holding elevator doors open, carrying groceries hands free (I forgot to mention it locks closed at the middle stage too, so you could have the hook out at mid length as well) pushing things away from you, pulling things toward you, picking stuff off the floor without bending down. Made it to enable greater reach, as a basic ability it seems useful. I'm guessing the right application will become apparent in time.

@@BionicConcepts I used to work on a dairy chill dock, loading trucks. We would drag stacks of milk cases using hooks. This would be good for those type of workers. We were constantly putting down and picking up our hooks. sometimes even absentmindedly misplacing them, which would waste time and be very frustrating. I think you could make a lot of money selling a hook like that to milk plants.
