Autistic

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I discovered that I am Autistic at the age of 44. This came about due to a series of events that has helped shape my future moving forward. I hope you enjoy my story, comments and questions are welcomed.
Apologies for the camera auto-focus, I didn't realise it was turned on.

Thank you so much for this update, Smerk. It’s great to hear that this journey is one that has been fruitful in that you understand yourself better and I imagine it opens up more doors for you to work with yourself - rather than against yourself. Ofc I look forward to anything you choose to do/make/release in the future, but most importantly I just wish you to be happy and healthy. It’s the only thing that matters! Also thanks for including an update on Randy! ❤

Very proud of you for bringing this out to your KZread community. My wife says she thinks I’m on the spectrum somewhere but never been tested. I’ve read some things and watched some videos and agree somewhere on there but not to the point of getting diagnosed. It definitely opens your eyes to why you do some things the way you do them.

Thank you for the kid words. I don’t think official diagnosis is important, it’s just knowing why you do certain things really helps you understand yourself.

I was also diagnosed very late in life. You touched on many themes that I've been going through. It is definitely helpful to finally have some answers to many long outstanding questions. Being on the spectrum isn't a curse, in many ways it's a gift with some caveats. I think it's great and courageous to talk publicly about ASD, I think there are many more of us who simply haven't had their awakening moment (yet).

Hey Smerkin, came across this video while looking around at Satisfactory videos. Your path is very familiar to me. IT/Autism/streaming/depression/etc.. I am happy to see that you are being honest with yourself, as I can understand how masking and headspace can prevent those that from happening.

Hey, so good to see you looking so relaxed. Really pleased you are coming to terms with yourself and your diagnosis. Sometimes knowing your 'triggers' can help so much in how you deal with certain situations and people. I'll be honest I do miss your streams, especially seeing Randy (I used to have a GS called Molly - I still miss her after eight years) but at the end of the day you have to do what is right for you. Post when you can, its great to see these updates from you - all the best; Farrelly

Welcome to the family, reunions are never because socializing is hard. Glad to hear getting diagnosed has helped you understand yourself better, it was quite the life change for me, also diagnosed far too late in life, but like a wise Snutt once told me, it be like it do.

Hey Smerkin, Thank you for venting your thoughts. A very packed video of information. You’ve done a good thing and opened up to us. You didn’t have too. I also want to congratulate you on your move with your partner. I hope this doesn’t effect further streams in the future. Nevertheless, I respect you and always have my friend. Your a great guy. a little late with watching this vid, but i still wanna say thanks for the update smerkin. i am happy that you managed to find out about your condition and wish you all the best for dealing with it and the future! you go and take care of yourself first and foremost, personal wellbeing is the most important thing as far as i am concerned. also, i want to say a really big thank you for your streams! you provided me with a nice environment, in which i always felt confortable in, and you also enabled me to expand my horizon and find a lot of different streamers/people, which i am still in contact with. all the best to you and, once again, a verry big thank you! cya around!

I recognize many things in your video. Haven't been tested, but looking into it more lately. Glad you got a diagnosis and you can fit the pieces together. Hope things fall into place for you and when it does, you will find your way in life once again. With or without streaming, it's your life, your health and your wellbeing that counts. Would love to see a video from time to time, just to see how you are doing and wish you the very best with whatever the future might hold for you.

Welcome to the spectrum mate. I was saddened about my being absent on the lead up to your departure from streaming, kinda funny how that was largely due to my autism mixing with my bipolar. I only realized you were leaving the day after you finished streaming. Good to see this and hope the future treats you well.
