That is the authentic Hockkien Mee (prawn Mee), same as it was in the 60s...When I visit Penang, I will only go for the authentic style of streetfood, no fancy syuff. Even Nasi lemak I go to Pitt Street Hawker centre to eat the bungkus type....they have the best but only sells until about 1100 to 1200 noon

Yeah.. we've been to so many hokkein mee place but this one stall in particular is so authentic. Simple but the best. We'll have to try the Pitt Street Hawker Nasi Lemak next time! Thanks for sharing

Opps ! Actually the Nasi Lemak is at Sri Weld Hawker centre not Pitt Street.. Sri Weld Food Court Address: Beach St, Georgetown, 10300 George Town, Penang, That is where all the banks are

But of course the most authentic Nasi Lemak was those I ate when I was about 6 to 8 years old, those days you can see the mamak selling Kueh with a pole on their shoulder carrying two huge basket on each sides of the pole( that is how the word 'kandar' came from) Their nasi lemak consist of sambal belachan and the flavor of the rice is so much richer. For your infomation, that is also how the Penang Nasi Kandar got its name 'cause some mamaks sells rice and condiments using the baskets on a pole (that is the 'Kandar')

I see! We can only imagine how good that would be. Elly's dad also says food when he was little tasted so much better in general.
