I'm looking at picking up either the Air 2S or Evo Lite+ for a step up from my Mini 2 so this was a perfect vid for me 👍

If you are new to cameras then you may think the more megapixels the better. This is a common mistake. What counts is the size of the pixels and their separation from each other.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Well, that's true BUT under perfect conditions (lots of light) the smaller, more megapixel sensors can deliver less DR but more detail. Smartphones like the Huawei 40 pro (same as Lite?) are very good when the small photo sites catch enough light. I hope you will test the normal Lite when available... please.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 out of these 4 drones, with one do you think has the best image quality? The cfly faith 2, the holy stone HS600, the FIMI X8SE 2022, the Potensic dreamer 4k pro drone.

Now frostbite is dedication. I would love one of these models.

The use of German Glass on the Evo Lite makes it a far superior camera, especially matched with the new Sony Sensor.

Jeepers. If I check the outside temp and it's below about 40 degrees F, I say "Nah." And here you are, getting frostbite doing these tests. I can also just imagine your neighbors looking out the window that evening and saying, "The crazy drone guy is sitting down on his driveway when it's below zero. One of these days, we'll need to call the guys in white with the big net." Thanks for the review! The EVO Lite+ is looking more and more like my next photography drone. I was looking forward to the Mavic 3 until I learned the price tag, so the EVO at a considerably lower price point but still having excellent imagery is much more my speed.

Nerve damage takes a while but it definitely comes back. I've once pressed so hard on a tool that I damaged the nerve in my finger. Took almost 2 months to regain full feeling. Aaah.

Great video! This would be the one I'd get never their 250g drone just cause it's better in wind also... I know you were just flying down your road but brother I'm telling you just stay in your jeep and fly!!... stay warm!! So much better and as far as you're going you'll still never lose connection... save those fingers lol

Autel Evo Lite+ has a great camera quality. It is an amazing thing that it can perform this good and capture even the smallest details. It is very stable, 16× zoom is too good if you want to look at something which is far away and I didn't knew it had Level 7 wind resistance! It is very powerful and its gimbal is pretty stable even in freezing temperatures whereas the gimbal of Air 2S was shivering of cold! Evo Lite+ delivers highly detailed pictures and videos even at night which is one of the best feature of a drone out there! DJI should do something quickly in order to make better drones as compared to Autel's, as Autel is making wonderful drones now with awesome camera quality!

The photos are fantastic? I like this one better than the Nano. Too many people complaining about how easy the wind pushes the Nano around. I've also seen a video where the guy almost lost it in little wind, but they both have fantastic cameras. Thanks for sharing Steve as always. I'll see you in the next one. 👍👍👍

If you are a newbie KZread drone reviewer you’ll fly the Nano in SMOOTH speed mode in the wind & then stupidly complain about it. In SMOOTH mode it can’t fly in wind because the drone is not angled forward sufficiently.

Great review as always! I'm curious if the Evo 2 Pro nd filters will also fit the lite +. I know it comes with 4 filters, however, if you have higher nd filters like I do, it would be nice if you didn't have to buy more and wait for them to become available.

Steve, great review as always. I have the Mavic Air 2 and skipped out on the previous Autel offerings and feel it's time to get one of new Autel drones. Would you recommend the Nano Plus as an upgrade from the MA2? I can get over the video quality of both the Nano and Lite series drones, but there is a price difference and I'm not a pro user. I look forward to Part 3 as well. Thanks.

The NANO+ is an upgrade to the MINI 2. The AIR2 is in a different category.

S/W correction well done, there's not noticeable chromatic aberration on the sides.

You can get heated Gloves and they don't cost much if I was drone testing in a cold country like Canada I would definitely have some .

This was the video I have been waiting for. As always, another Great review! Do you think the Autel Evo Lite + is a better drone than the Autel Pro 6K? I was thinking about buying the Autel Evo Pro 6K, but not sure now.

The Pro II 6k has 360 obstacle avoidance, waypoints, controller with display. However the camera has the older sensor so I think the new EVO Lite+ may have the camera edge.

Wouldn’t it be “Killer” if Autel would offer the 6K Lite camera on the Autel Evo Pro, then you would have the Best Drone Ever!

Best reviews I saw until now on the new Autel quads. Thank you very much, Steve. Feeling so sorry for the frostbite, and hope it will be cured soon. I flew the Air 2S last Friday at -20C and had to hastily remove one glove at the flight end near the home point to avert a critical battery landing kzread.info/dash/bejne/lWmOyJaDgpCbg7Q.html. Using a tablet pencil instead of removing the glove, is a great idea, I'll try it next time. Stay warm, Steve, this winter is not like our previous ones.

Awesome review! Just to make sure, the Evo Lite+ has POI or Orbit flight mode?? The people at BestBuy told me that this drone doesn’t have any flight modes and I really need POI/Orbit mode on my drone in order to deliver my projects. Thanks!

Is so, I would proceed with caution. The 7.9" Smart Controller for Evo 2 Pro has had zero attention (or updates) since release and works only with Evo 2 series 🤔 It cost me $1200. Hopefully these consumer drones get better development. So far it looks like they will.

To do smooth zooming at any magnification, is the only way moving your finger on the screen? No combo of button and wheel like the Air 2S? Asking in regard to being able to perform dolly zoom.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Bummer, that will make doing dolly zooms quite a bit more difficult as the same hand can't easily do both at the same time (move away or toward smoothly at the same time as zooming).

Quick question that I haven’t seen addressed in any of the reviews (maybe I’ve missed in comments though): can the lite+ be hand launched? I’ve seen comments saying they can be caught but I’m wondering about launching. I read somewhere that the Evo 2 pro wouldn’t allow it and it’s got me worried about how I’d like to be able to launch from boats or in back country areas that may not have nice level ground. Thanks!

I believe AUTEL added a BOAT mode to their old AUTEL drones. I did not notice it in this one and I have not tried a hand launch.

How is the drone connecting to the controller? I know it has GPS, but the controller has a antena and i can not imagine that the signal from the controller reaches that far to connect to the drone directly. How does it work, do you know? If it connects directly via wifi that the controller gives off there must be a huge radiation dont it?

Woahh Autel, you may have DJI with this one. I am a dedicated landscape stills photographer using an old Mavic 2 Pro, and I decided not to go with Mavic 3 due to cost. And from nowhere Autel release this. I do semi-professional photography and hold exhibitions, and yet I am drooling over a "beginner" drone? I am seriously considering jumping from M2P to Evo Lite Plus.

This really should come as no surprise to anyone who has been into drones for a few years. Autels cameras were always better than the older DJI drone they were made to go against. The Evo 1 had a better camera than the Mavic 1. The Evo 2 has an arguably better camera than the Mavic 2 series. The Lite has a better camera than the Air2s and the Nano has a better camera than the mini. That's the advantage they get by bringing their competing drones out AFTER DJIs version. This is how it should be. It would be a shame and a bad business decision for Autel to have a worse camera when it comes out a year or two after the DJI drone it is meant to compete with.

Do youknow if they make ND Filters for this drone camera?

There is currently no LOG format so your colors would be different. The LOG format is coming next month.

Nope, just make your own.

I guess glass has a thinner density than plastic or acrylic lenses..After all, no matter the pixel densiity, the lens has to made out of a material which lets more light in - like glasses or a microscope.

Love your reviews. But and there is always a but. Please use a different color combination for the specs. Or us a bolder letter. Verry dificult to read on my laptop monitor. Thank you.

Just like DJI and Hubsan and Yuneec drones.... There are no spare parts. You have to send the drone in for repair. Only drones with spare parts are drones in the FPV Drone hobby.

As far as I know, 1" Sony RYYB is only IMX800 from Huawei P50...Are you sure this sensor is on Lite PLUS ??? Because i see Sony 720 in detections from LITE (simple), and this sensor is 1/1.28 inch size....

Now that I look into it, I am no longer certain. The lite shows the RYYB shows "large pixels for low light", but the terminology in the document is used interchangeably so I really don't know anymore.

For the price, yes. But keep in mind, the APP is not as detailed as the APP for the PRO model.

Can the battery be used from pro to lite ?

Steve this was a good review,, am betting that Autel could offer the best alternate, perhaps the superior advantage over DJI in a few years. I only hope that they look into updating the capability of the existing pro line, as a way to get buyers to become insanely sticky to the brand. One note though, please don't demo with creepy examples of zoomin in on neighbors, it may give some weidos bad ideas that can end up making hobby flying perceived as beeing creepy. Guess what, they'll use this video as an example... and we don't want that.

According to the general public, anyone who flies a drone with a camera is trying to film them and invade their privacy, so you have a point.

Not sure if anybody else has had this problem but I just got my evo light plus and after a couple of short videos my 6K video looks terrible when I play it back through my cell. To be honest my old parrot Bebop 2 1080p looks better with more color and definition. I'm wondering if maybe my Samsung Galaxy note isn't set up to play back 6K or if there is something possibly wrong with the camera on the autel.

You 100% are not seeing 6K on your phone. As a matter of fact I'm guessing you have nothing capable of showing 6K at your home for the simple reason that most items like computer monitors and tablets and phones are either 1080p or 2K and rarely 4K (unless you have a 4K TV), but there is nothing for home that is 6K. If the footage looks bad (color wise), then you have something set very wrong.

P.S... I really haven't seen anything in terms of flying response, if the Lite+ is as good as the DJI drones, I think the Lite+ could take some sales away from DJI, both the Air2s and the M3. As I said earlier, IMO DJI got a little greedy. With a $3000 M3 package you get the same controller as the Mini 2! WTF?? The Mavic 2 controller is so much better. Why didn't they stick with that? At least folks would feel they're getting some value for their money with a readout and the same buttons as the smart controller. PLUS Autel doesn't bother with geofencing, the bane of my existence wiith DJI.

Greedy ^^ ... last time I checked autel drones were pricier than dji ones so when the 4/3 EVO will come out it will be much as well. The EVO lite as good as it seem lack evo 2 pro and air 2 S / mavic 3 features like log profile and 10 bit and the fly more combo air 2 S is the price of a naked evo lite plus

The RAW photos are currently 10 bit and will soon be 12 bit with the coming update. The video is 8 bit and there is currently no planned increase to 10 bit. You can’t tell the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit video. You only use it in LOG format because that is when you color and exposure correct the image. When editing LOG it is better to have a high bit rate. Since Autel makes these new line of drones with the best sensors and optics for people getting into the drone hobby, they don’t expect new users to be color and exposure correcting videos.

I just lost my Mavic Air 2 drone in a river yesterday just 1 month past my 1 year DJI Protection coverage so I am looking to buy a new drone. I'm wavering between the DJI Air 2S and this Autel Evo Lite + drone. I was happy with the video quality of the Mavic Air 2 (it was my first drone) and I was able to produce some pretty good videos (for a beginner) and up them to KZread, but I found the photo images were not as good as I'd like; photo quality is very important to me and the 12MP photos just weren't enough for landscape photos. So, my question is ....... are the 20MP photos from the Air 2S noticeably much better than the Air 2 photos to make it worth buying for that reason, or, does this Autel Evo Lite + trump the Air 2S photos enough to make it worth buying it instead? I like the way the Air 2 handled and I like some of the options the Air 2S has that the Autel drone doesn't have, but I'm sure I would get used to the Autel handling fairly quickly anyway. Based on photo quality being very important, do you think it's worth giving up the familiarity and dependability of the DJI drone for the better (possibly) photo quality from this Autel drone?

Drones are like cell phones. If you are an ANDROID guy, stick with Android because if you try to retrain your brain to Apple, you'll struggle and not like it. The same is true with drones. If you have a DJI Brain and you use an AUTEL drone, you're just not gonna like it because your brain needs to be retrained. The EVO lite+ has way better photos than the DJI AIR 2S, however, the AIR 2S, has some better things than the EVO LITE+.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks, Captain! I do want way better photos than the Mavic Air 2; does the Air 2S have way better photos than the Mavic Air 2? If it does, I would go that way, but if the Autel EVO Lite + is even that much better, I might be inclined to give my brain a retraining.

hmmm for night video the evo lite is very good.... but I don't know if I can trust for shure what sais a company that advertise 5.4K cameras as 6K because 6K is 6000pixel and that need 24mpx like what really does the panasonic S1! Also it is sad for a drone that will certainly cost more than a Air 2 s that there is no log format and 10bit colors, because other than that juste the variable aperture makes it more intersting that the Air 2 S

In the accepted world of 16 x 9 video, the resolution is 6k. You are listen to a pile of goof balls that spread misinformation in year 2020. Also 10 bit is only good in LOG format for video. Since the image is less good on the Air2S there is only so much you can do to improve it. Most users have no idea how to correct 10 bit video in Adobe or FCP. The EVO has 12 bit RAW photos which is awesome since the photo quality is exceptional. Hopefully the DJI Air3 will be better, but it will cost more than the EVO Lite+.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yeah si the air 2s is 6k if tousse this way and no the length of 6k no matter it is 16/9 or 3/2 is 6000 pixels it's just the hight that change. But I see what you mean it correspond to 2 4k 16/9 put one on on top of the other and then turned ^^, that considered it is 1,42 times bigger, to arrive to 1,5 to arrive un the 6k territory it should be 5760 in uhd pixels something like that not 5472. The mention 6k should be 5760 in uhd and 6144 in dci

Not sure how 90% of reviewers out there are missing this… the “6k” Lite+ and the 5.4k Air 2S have the EXACT same resolution. Which is 5.4k. Why aren’t people calling Autel out on simply… lying about this? Every review I see, they are actually benefitting from their lie and this video is a case in point. You are calling the Lite+ “6k” and the Air 2S “5k”. Despite having IDENTICAL resolution.

The resolution is shown in PART 1. In the world of video and 16:9 aspect ratio, that is considered one of many aspect ratios of 6K.

The light this let's in is incredible. Golden hour photography and urban night photography will clearly be better on the Autel.

uh.. when you start to fly you understand that you are frozen only when you need to change battery, always forgetting my gloves in a car

It's a matter of preference I guess, but the footage from the Lite+ looks too sharp for my taste.

If I’m not mistaken Autel has partnered with Zeiss and Huahuei (sp) for their lenses. IMO DJI lenses are cheaply made. Image wise Autel will crush DJI who has become Uber-greedy with their M3. You pointed out the DJI controller… it’s a cheap, non-ergonomic brick. Even the Mini1 controller was better.

The DJI-Controller is superb!! Clever design, fits perfectly in my Hands! Only thing I‘d miss would be a second wheel for drones with variable aperture. The Autel Controller is a bummer! No place for the sticks, that fat phone holder always bulky on top… come on… horrible!!!

Yes, I think RYYB for both Lite+ and Nano+. UPDATE: Checked the documentation and it is confusing as both drones speak of night photography and randomly use the RYYB term, so answer is... I Really Don't know.

Unfortunately this is the reality of the current economies. Expect all NEW drones to be rather costly. The only INEXPENSIVE good quality drones are those that launched two or more years ago.

Having bought an Autel back in October 2022 and crashed it in January, I can tell you that Autel customer service is shockingly bad. I had a crash with a Mini years ago and the customer service is not even comparible. I would urge anyone thinking of Autel (mainly due to the no geo-fencing) to think again. It has been one of the worst companies I've dealt with in the last 30 years.

Your comparing the evo lite + to the air 2s when there is a significant price difference. Evo is $1800+ vs $1200 Not surprised the evo lite cimes out ahead.

Please watch the vid again as I think you missed the part... DJI AIR 2S.... OLD TECH before chip shortage. Will only be sold until stock runs out. EVO LITE+ .... NEW TECH using current chips. DJI AIR 3... Coming out next year, will be more expensive than the EVO LITE+ due to chip shortage.

Great review but u compared a $999 drone to $1550 drone u can almost buy 2s and nano for $1650 much better deal

That is correct. Ignore the price. The AIR2S is an old drone so the price is not reflective of new stock but rather existing stock. Once it runs out it is gone. When the DJI Mavic Air 3 is released it will cost more than the LITE PLUS and it will be the drone compared against the LITE PLUS. As mentioned in the video, old drones like the DJI MINI 2, Mavic PRO II, Air 2S are being sold until stock runs out because it is much too expensive to make the same models again due to the current economy. So, again as mentioned at the end of the video, expect everything to be massively expensive going forward when a new product is released.

What about a touchscreen pen instead of gloves

I just got mine Friday but I cant find the Histogram.As a photographer this is a big deal for me. My evo nano plus has it but not the lite.

I never use the Histogram so have not looked for it. If it exists, it would be in the CAMERA option settings.

Dji drones are still my favorite ones! I dont like those...

Why would he be out driving around in public if he did not want people to see his license plate??

It is a KZread thing. I have friends that do not like it when I catch their license plate in my videos. Go figure.

Not bad for a 1400 dollar drone.

That Autel plastic looks so cheap compared to the textured surface of the DJI plastic. Especially the Nano+ looks so cheap… Autel like playmobil, DJI really like a tech workhorse. Might not be important, but keeps me a bit away. Nearly as much as this bulky Handy-holder on the RC. For me it is DEFINITIVE NOT the best controller!! The DJI-Controller is so clever in comparison - plus it’s incredible battery life! So sad, because the ImageQuality seems to be superb…

Don't buy yourself the Mavic 3 as the plastic bends in your hands each time you pick it up.
