I'd say the clear winner is the EVO II. Not being locked out of an area legal to fly in is beyond monetary value. I only hope they include points of interests within waypoint flight.

that's the reason I got it. My friend bought the Mavic 2 and found out he can't even fly around his property or local RC field... That others fly helis and airplanes.😒

I think there is a controller that has an AMOLED 3.3 or 3.5 screen. So no need for phone.

Great video! To my eyes, the difference between the two is striking. Straight lines and objects don't look too far away from each other. However, grass, trees and vegetation? Wow,...the Mavic makes trees look like globs of "wax". Was your Mavic in sensor cropped "High Quality" mode or pixel binned "Field of View" mode.? Nice work!...I'm really LOVING what you are shooting with your EVO-II Pro....wow...that is some GORGEOUS stuff!

SALUDOS There was that camera in manual model ?in both drone because the Mavic Pro 2 shows more solid and vivid colors as more details on most occasions.

Both the Autel and DJI looked awesome, but out of all the different clips you did. It seemed to show more true color and sharpness with the Evo ll. It's really hard to do a comparison but you did an excellent job.

I'm really impressed with the results from these default settings on the Evo 2 Pro! I'm interested to see the LOG footage in the future, since that's the way I'd shoot. I'm curious to know if it improves upon the Evo 1 in that area.

That's actually a lot closer than I originally thought. I would have figured the evo 2 would've blown the mavic 2 out of the water considering they're 2 years a part and technology has certainly changed a lot in that time frame, as you can see with the autel. I do like the crispness of the evo but I like the more natural look of the mavic.

Both are great drones. Amazing job.. Ken you are a beast. 👍👍👍👍👍

The EVO II Pro is a bit sharper that the M2P. See the No-Drone sign at 1:10. Color tint differences are a matter of taste and easily adjusted in post. However, the EVO II 8K color looked best to me. Interesting how you timed the music beat to exactly match the video jerks at 24fps. Neat effect! Looking forward to your upcoming video comparisons.

The fact that most reviewers aren't saying the Evo II is destroying the M2P after almost 2 years of M2P drone life is pretty shocking to me. I love the idea of DJI having a head to head competitor, but I just don't see anybody catching up with them at the moment. Kind of a drag.

And my point was just that, from all I’ve seen, the drone is as good or maybe slightly better than a 2 year old drone. I’m basically just saying what you said at the beginning of your video. I also think I’ve heard you say that you want somebody to push DJI as well. That’s good for everybody. I’m not sure what I said that was so controversial. I appreciate your content.

they record at different framerates. when you combine them in one video one will stutter depending on which framerate you chose for the export.

I have the Mavic 2 Pro and it has served me well, lately its been concerning with the news from the FAA and this looming issue is having an impact on my choice for my next drone. I want to be sure that I can enjoy this hobby if the day comes concerning the FAA. There is the EVO Pro which I agree looked the best and of course no Geo-fencing. I really like the Mavic Air 2 which will come with "Airsense." I also have been thinking of the Mavic Mini mainly because of the weight. It's sad that I have to base my decision on Federal Bureaucrats!

I hear that man, a have the mav 2 zoom with a 7inch Crystal sky monitor and money ready to go for a new drone but I'm gonna wait to see what the FAA rules are gonna be first. I have a feeling there gonna get these laws passed faster then people think.

The FAA remote ID is going to be real. They stand to be in a good position from the private sector. We have a some time but I’m getting ahead of it. You can see how DJI has been proactive the last few years being extra tight to look good in front of the government when stuff gets real. The Autels and Skydios of the world are taking a wait and see approach.

@@onewheeldrone FAA wasn't and isn't as impressed with DJI. Especially the MINI. FAA plans to push RID, and that is exactly what they want... to ID the pilot, not just the craft. LEO's cannot track the craft to the operator. With RID they can.. This is NOT only about issues with other aircraft, this is more to aid in busting the wrong doers. RID will provide that, and possibly provide a means for LEO to shut that signal down if need be. DJI software is cracked often by people, and most nefarious use of drones have that software. RID will be harder to circumvent which puts the code crackers in a different position. RID will show location of both aircraft, and operator. That is the goal. ADSB is not. Still, this is many years off, and probably more delayed due to the Covid crap.

@@miketipton678 my take on RID: Imagine knowing every driver's location at any given time and supplying their name and contact info. Huge invasion of privacy and unconstitutional. You can say they're trying to protect airspace but there's been zero known deaths of a drone impacting aircraft. They want to clear airspace for Amazon and Uber but the Skyviews of the world also stand to make money. I think the comment submission thing was a joke because the FAA just announced companies that will be partnering. People say it's a while away. Once we get back to our routines, that makes time fly and this BS will be here before we know it. As of now, it looks I'll be flying drones that don't have anything to do with RID.

When you get to the Mavic Air 2 what I'd really like to see is a comparison with the Evo II 8K. Both drones use the same image sensor so I'm interested in how lens, gimbals, flight characteristics of the drones and the in drone image processing takes what should be identical data from the image sensors and creates differences in what ends up on the micro sd cards (or doesn't create differences between a drone that costs half as much as the other drone).

You said that they both launched from a boat and maybe that s why the gimbala may have not been at its best. I m new to drones. What s the boat got to do with this? I understand that it is not a flat surface from which to take off but I thought that they send the horizon and that sort of stuff from all their internal sensors, accelerometers and whatnot. Also, do you calibrate the gimbal before every flight? Thanks so much

Is it possible to reduce sharpening on the evo in camera? Its too sharp. Hows the dynamic range on the Evo? How far do you think you could punch in compared to the mavic on the Evo 2 6k before its unusable? Did you notice any flaring or blurry spots in the lens on the evo 2?

Will you be doing any night comparison between the 8k and tree 6k Pro?

I used both of these models. And I'm really amazed why your M2 Pro footage is so blurry. I guess, there are 2 possible reasons: defective camera on your Mavic 2, or sponsored review. Log footage is a bit too de saturated for my taste but workable. Low light on the other hand has me going crazy. The 6400 iso and f2.8 aperture is killers with nearly no noise. Amazing low light . Thanks for the comparison bro. Wonder what DJI has cooking cause they gotta step up their game big time because of this evo

Hey Ken, explain how you didn't use boat mode with the 6k, also if I hand launch the EVO, what would happen?

I always like dji drones and I got 5 dji drones and this year I thought try Autel evo 2. To be honest Autel evo done such a great job, very solid drone. Since I got evo 2 and I did not fly mavic pro 2 or other because its doing all the jobs for me. I think in your video Evo is winning.

Good test between both of them. It appeared to me that the Mavic 2 Pro had more dynamic range in the video with the different shades of greens from the trees. The shadows also was more obvious to with the Mavic 2 Pro. The Autel Evo 2 was more punchier for sure in the colors. I suppose the looks are all subjective though.

For me, Mavic 2 Pro any day of the week. It has a real cinematic look. BUT - Maybe a really crazy low-light performance could make me change my mind and go for the EVO II Pro.

*So I want to know how the evo2 compares to the inspire 2 with the x camera 6k footage I feel like a bit rate of 8 with the evo 2 vs the bitrate of 12 with the x7 is a massive difference I feel like if an 8k video fits on an sd card it cant be real 8k no?*

So did you actually color grade any of your footage for this video or is it straight out of the can ?

Look,,....as "videographers", we need to look at "in the field capture" like this;.....Capture ALL the dynamic possible and capture ALL the detail and clarity possible. Why? Because "colors" are completely adjustable to your liking in post! Want a softer image? Then just throw out detail in post and make it as soft as you want. Dynamic range? You can't keep 13 stops of dynamic range in rec709 on KZread....but if you capture 13 stops...YOU get to choose how much to keep and how much to throw away in post!! Guys,...do you get this? The more you bring home, the more choices you have available in your editor. If you go for a fully baked in or soft look and capture it that way, you are backing yourself into a corner before you even get home to edit it...you are screwed! It's like cooking with salt....you can put it in when you are cooking but you can NEVER remove from the food later. If you save the salt for last, then people can add it or not add it when the plate is served. Moral of the story? Dont throw away clarity or dynamic range in-camera and record it that way. When you get home, you wont have ANYWHERE to go. Go for the "non-destructive" process and NOT the "destructive" process. On colors? Don't worry about in-camera colors as THAT is 90% adjustable in post too if you shot flat. Detail is captured only ONE TIME in camera. Bring that home an throw it away THERE,....NOT in-camera before you even ever see it. It's simple folks! BRING IT ALL HOME FIRST!...then decide later on a big monitor.

Mavic II all the way. Plus no horizon issues 😂. Sorry had to add the last one since they still didn’t get that one right. Had the issue with my Evo I but it was not a big deal. I love the flight controls of DJI drones. Live in an area that geo fencing was ever been an issues. Even traveling, including near a marine base in Hawaii, I never had a “lock out” so for me DJI will be where my $$ go. For the price, likely after the remote ID issue is settled so I know I can keep flying it in the future, For those that hate DJI or love Autel, Autel is great and I do highly recommend them. Their customer service is the best, absolutely the best.

Gabe M No didn’t see any horrible tilt. Fly an Evo on on the original firmware, that was horrible tilt. Is the Mavic perfect no. Never said that and wasn’t trashing the Evo II. It was a joke. Lighten up and stop being a fanboy/girl 😂 (sorry need gender equality in the statement). Both are amazing drones but I will spend my money on the Mavic line. Having had Parrot’s, Autel’s, and DJI’s, I prefer DJI products. Get it, it is a preference. If you think the Evo is better then the Mavic buy the Evo, because that is the one you prefer.

Gabe M Yes that one is bad 😁. I don’t fly often in poi, but I am not sure that was not intentional. Looking at the tower, It is pretty much vertical in the shot. Almost like the software was trying to keep it in straight. Then it looks like at the end the rotors slowed and returned it to a horizontal horizon. Either way, yes it looks bad. Ken, if you read this have you seen this type of tilt when you shoot poi?

I'm sorry, but despite the Evo footage being choppy, I prefered the mavic colors 😟

Which drone to pick? When getting a drone do not ever consider image or video qualtiy. The chunk of you decision should be, Is the drone easy to fly? Is it not too heavy? How are the safety features of the drone? How about the "back to home" capability. With all these question asked, I would pick the Mavic 2 Pro.

How dors the video compare WITHOUT the ND filter on the Mavic?

Great video. I still think the Mavic 2 Pro its better!

Based on what? Dji has more gimmicks (flight modes) and is smaller. By that standard a $40 micro trick drone is better than either of these.

You can tell who's in denial. Both Autel's look better than the Mavic as expected. The Mavic image looks very flat while the others look sharper especially in the trees. I'm sure DJI will be dropping something to compete. It still looks good

Can you tell us if you can obtain 10 bit color in 4k log? Autel says that is offered but no onehas been able to.

Looks like my next drone will be an Evo II Pro. 40min Batteries, No GeoZone, 1" Sony sensor, Real 360 sensors...

I'd say that a pro at Premier and Photoshop, will work with any of the pictures/videos there.... Color is a preference, and anyone can have something to say about it :p

If you could only keep one drone and it was between the Mavic 2 pro the evo 2 Pro Which one would you choose I’m at a crossroads right now as I can only have one drone at the moment so please help me make a choice I’m probably going to answer my own question right now Geo fencing it’s killing me A few of my favorite places I could fly two or three months ago I can no longer fly with the Mavic two

Also... If you really want some competition. You should have flown the zoom. The zoom has a sharper sense than the Hasselblad on the PRO. That's a fact. But you would lose a bit contrast.

Evo 2 Pro Its a great looking drone nice video but I just think they price themselves out $1800 when your playing catch up to DJI is not smart bussiness..

Over water I didn't think there was even a question. The E2Pro ruled.

I said if you want that kind of camera system, pony up For a Matrice. I grew up with Black & White TV sick of crybabies who want a Cinescope to make home movies. These are 1500dollar toys.

So what's better the EVO 2 Pro 6K or the EVO 2 8K? I hear the EVO 2 Pro 6k is the way to go. Thoughts?

I like the Evo pro footage better. The colors seem richer more contrast I think. The fact that you can fly it now anywhere without being locked out is a big plus for me. I hope Autel keeps adding more bells and whistles to their explorer app to keep supporting the drone. Just wish it wasn't so f*ing ugly! It really is and ugly drone, not that you'll see it when it's up in the air & you can always spot it easier if you need to find it if lost. I used to be in the USCG and that orange reminds me of all the rescue gear. Bright orange or red etc... Seems like a very nice drone other than the color though...

Then add in the fact that Evo will not lock me out of flying in spots I am legal to fly in. Geo fencing is a deal breaker for me. I will not buy another DJI product till it is all worked out. I do still own a P4P and Osmo Pro

Never have issues flying anywhere. I live near a Air Force Base, and it just says I can't fly over 100 feet. I never get locked out of flying in my 2 years of owning. I did have to get a request approved over the Air Force area down the road, but it was an instant approve and could only fly at 50 feet for that day. And that was right across from the runway. I'm not sure why people talk about getting locked out of flying, I fly all over Arizona with no issues, unless I am close to a National Park.

From what I hear with DJI you can request authorization to fly and they usually grant it however I haven’t done because I got it unlocked with nolimitdronez. No NFZ is a big selling point

Comes down to the sensor and colour and focus. Would have been good to do 4k30 comparison. But either way, the autel has longer batteries and spherical obstacle avoidance full-time. The Mavic 2 Pro doesn't. These are the only 1 inch sensor drones on the market everything else compromises the sensor. All they're crazy huge like inspire 2.

Is it possible you are not seeing the jerky motion in your video?

Great video OriginaldoBo!!!! Really well said about images straight out of the camera vs post editing. People bitching about the fact that the image on the mavic isn't as sharp as the evo. Most pro filmmakers find drone footage unnaturally sharp. The mavic's camera is for very serious editors and so it's slightly soft so that it can be sharpened in post if desired. I'm not a biased dji fanboy but I still think the mavic is the better drone. On raw specs the evo is superior and it's a top quality product but dji are still kings when it comes to implementation and software. Nonetheless this video is great and most people would be incredibly happy with either of these brilliant drones (my mavic air 2 arrives in Ireland on Thursday!!!!)

Yes, evo picture looks oversharpened to me, digital and not cinematic. As you mentioned, you can sharpen the picture in post but you can not soften from oversharpened without compromising filmed subject/frame.

Sorry, just saw your response to my question below. And besides being an azz-hat about it in the comments, you should explain “that” (choppiness of the video) upfront. At least that’s what a good reviewer would do. Especially when taking about video quality. I’ve had this question with other drone videos,... I see a stutter effect, like a flip book missing frames when there is movement. On this video I definitely see a very noticeable stutter to both drones videos. Is the because of my 3 year old 4K TV? Is it the 24 frames a second? Is it KZread compression? Is it how you rendered the video? I just can’t figure it out. Especially when I have seen footage of both these drones from other reviews that either don’t have the stutter, or it’s less prominent. Regardless, thanks for the comparison.

I see my question was answered below about Geo fencing... Question, I see that the video is a little jerky, is this because of the high resolution, 6K?

That last shot at around 3:00, the Evo was flying into the sun, mavric away from the sun, so it's goin to be washed out.

As always Ken, you nailed it. I love my Mavic 2 Pro. I have never been locked out of flying anywhere. I did have to request permission once, but no problems there either. I just think the M2P footage looks better.

If you were in the market, would you buy the Evo II Pro or Mavic 2 Pro?

So the cameras are pretty close, but the EVO does have 6k... so that might give it the edge... maybe. So, just flight characteristics and time, which (so far) would you choose and why. I know this could change as you get more and more used to the Evo, and how the Air 2 plays into the mix.

I think that today we finally have a true industry battle. For most of its life, DJI has not had a "serious" challenger in the folding drone market. Whether somebody is a DJI or Autel fanboi,...I think we can ALL agree that the EVO-II is a VERY strong competitor to DJI right now. We now have a true choice in this drone market. Autel has fired at DJI using Sony's best 1 inch-type IMX383 sensor and placed it in front of a seemingly excellent 5.5k image processor. This is going to limit DJI's ability to fire back at Autel with anything that can surpass this imaging combo. I think on the camera side, Autel has topped it out. Unlike DJI, two years ago, Autel left nothing on the table with this sensor reasout. Autel is literally using 100% from the very best chip on the market. From here on in, the competition will be about who is better in all the other ways we use the drones. The imaging science will be the same on the Mavic-3 Pro and EVO-II Pro.

They need to fix the horizon issue is is just me?
