Autechre 2008 Elektrons Backup || Sysex from AE Store

Ойындар

For those who don't know the full story: www.elektronauts.com/t/autech...
Direct audio feed from Machinedrum (SPS1UW+ MKII ) and Monomachine (SFX60+ MKII).
Connected the MNM AB and CD outputs but no signal has been recorded from the CD outputs.
For delivering the full pattern set purposes, I changed one setting from the original Machinedrum global menu in the control sysex page: set the PRGCHG to ON so that changing pattern on the Machinedrum mirrors on the Monomachine as well.
BPM setting set according to songmode BPM settings in the machinedrum original sysex.
Found also some Machinedrum songs to play in songmode so I recorded em as well at the end of the full memory banks pattern dump.
With special dedication to a couple of blabbering cunts in wattm.

Hey, very many thanks for sharing this. I only recently got a Digitakt. I figured someone in my genre of taste would have used Elektron at some point. Really floored to see Autechre was one of them but it explains a lot given they’re style that it would be a natural conclusion. Cool to hear some music of theirs that wasn’t on an album too!

Looking at the sysex data from the MM, the effect is achieved by using the RAM machine capturing sounds in real-time. The sample is played back in reverse, using a short retrig time and pitched all the way up. Seems like a random effect by trial-and-error, but sounds cool.

Pretty sure if you listen to live performances from that time the beats are more varied. I wonder if they had some max stuff hooked up either in the midi chain or just doing buffering type effects on the audio coming out. This is just a bunch of loops with surprisingly little or no probability/conditional-trig stuff going on in any given loop.

Elektron silver machines store their patches inside patterns. They unextricably linked. So if you enable prgchange and transport out on your master machine, pattern and patch will change in the slave one as well. Of course it only works If patterns are written in a 1:1 fashion (a1 on the MD goes with 1:1 a1 on the mono).

Hey! No problem. Autechre released the project files for their 2 Elektron boxes driven live set from 2008 (Machinedrum and Monomachine, a drum machine and a synthesizer, both with advanced sequencing capabilities). A project file ("sysex" file) holds all the information to configure both machines to perform the exact sequences and sounds Autechre created in their studio. I happen to have exactly those two Elektron boxes in my studio so I could reproduce a fairly similar performance to the real thing (some other gear is missing, MPC and Nord Modular if I recall correctly). I just loaded the project files, configured and synchronized the machines and launched every pattern / sound they contained. So it's no samples, just pure synthesis and melodies designed by my favourite music artists out there :) Hope this helps.

@@JasonBoon02 they’re quite expensive as they’ve been discontinued for a while and bc of their sort of cult following due to artists like sophie and ae using them. i can’t comment on difficulty of mastering them bc i don’t own them but pretty much any new piece of gear you get is going to have some amount of learning curve no matter what. elektron boxes are super in depth and provide a lot of parameters for you to control, which definitely could seem daunting at first. idk if you know someone that owns a monomachine/machinedrum then i would see if you could try them out before you buy and see how you enjoy the workflow
