I am from Poland, from Galicia to be exact. When I was little, my great-grandmother told me that when the emperor was passing through our town, she and other children went out to throw flowers in front of the emperor's carriage. The emperor stopped and gave the children sweets. But it is also a place strewn with many graves from the times of WWI. We take care of them and try not to lose the memory of any person, regardless of ethnicity, who gave his life for Austria-Hungary. There is still a portrait of His Imperial Majesty Franz Joseph I on the wall in my house.

Hey friend, are you Czech? I've been to Prag just a few weeks ago and loved it, beautiful city with rich history, as a Croat I felt almost like home. But I have a question, how big is monarchism in Czech Republic? I've noticed that there is a lot of anti-Habsburg sentiments there. What is your perspective?

@@ivanrenic4243 I am going to respond in English, but I am Czech as well (with little Austrian/German heritage). Yes, there is no monarchism or strong ties to former Austro-Hungarian empire (at least in minds of the people). There are some people I have noticed, mainly Christians from Moravia, who support the idea of the former Empire, I am neither of those. Though I like the concept of Austria-Hungary if the states were given there more autonomy (and created so-called United States of Greater Austria), then it would have been perfect. Sadly that did not happen due to WW1... Otherwise regarding Czechs and monarchism, I do not really see it positively, basically the whole narrative taught in school about Habsurg rule is that Czech lands were opressed by them and they finally "liberated" itself at the end of WW1, otherwise it was just like "living in a cage". We always mention Czechoslovak legions, but we never talk about the Czech soldiers serving in the KuK army although there was many more of them. It is almost comical actually. The Czechoslovakian/communist narative had not changed after more than 100 years and nobody here seems to care. Like I understand there were some negative things regarding the Empire towards Czechs, but what I learnt in school from my youth was Czech propaganda and the other idiots believe it... That is my take on the subject. I have been in Dalmatia recently and 6 years ago visited Istria region, not sure if you are from either of thos regions, but I am sending my regards to you to Croatia. Hvala.

Austria didn’t deserve what happened to them. Prussia was a crazy imperialist empire which escalated ww1 by telling the Austrians to do whatever. Through Austrias history they kept the peace and balance of power in Europe. Prussia is weirdly not blamed for this?
