    Another great round-up Will, there's a LOT to take in from this months show! My last purchase was a second B Class loco for my layout from Australian Modeller before they all disappeared, so it's great to see them supporting you with a special offer for your viewers. I may just take a little look-see at some E cars after watching your Otway Explorer clip! Would have loved a day out to Warrnambool on the train!

    If I were running Auscision, I would definitely go all-in on N scale. They have a wide open market to tap. Now that detail and running quality, with DCC and sound, is at such high levels, being able to build a "larger" layout in the same space is too tempting not to go N. Now that my large HO layout is torn down and all my HO trains are in display cases, I'm greatly tempted by those N scale NR's and building an N layout in my new, small living space. Go AuscisioN.

    Good video Will. Thanks for organising the discount, a great offer! - I took advantage of it and got some of the new NGTY grain hoppers. In terms of what else I've purchased lately, recently I put in my order for some 44 class. In terms of the content of the video and in particular with Auscision's big update (their biggest ever, I think), many of their stated ETA's are quite clearly over-optimistic. I've been watching events closely in the Australian model railway scene for the last fifteen years or so, and that experience tells me that things always take longer than they say, and never quicker. Certainly not new items, at least. I note that they didn't give an ETA for the C class or for many of the other locos, and a good thing too, because anything that doesn't have painted samples yet is NOT going to arrive this year, no way. For the recently announced Harris sets, Auscision claimed they would be here by the end of the year. NO. Its not going to happen no matter what anyone believes. The CLPs, G/BL, GT46C-ACe - none of them are likely to arrive this year, if by some miracle any do, it would be the ones which we have already seen the painted samples of, e.g. the GT46C-ACes or the G/BLs. But they are still unlikely to make it IMHO. Even the 44s are going to be arriving late this year if they do arrive at all (I'd guess October at the earliest). I don't believe that the XGAY or CHS wagons will arrive before the end of the year either, and the DEB sets I think we will be very lucky if they even arrive NEXT year (same with the C class and the CLP/CLF, I think). I am more confident that the re-runs of the NSW ballast hoppers and the SA grain hoppers will arrive sometime during the year though. Cheers and keep up the good work.

    @@WillJamesRailways No worries Will, I really enjoy your vids and congrats on owning a SS commodore - I liked the way you included that in the other vids. Re S class livery's; I think the other elephant in the room is the SSR graffiti grain train. It'd make a really cool set in HO I reckon but almost impossible to make. I liked driving down sunshine road when it was parked in Tottenham yards near the scrapped comeng's. To me, it looked like a mad max train. Hotrod livery's on S302 and S312 with the weathered P class loco's - it could be the coolest train on earth. Definitely in broad gauge. Cheers! EDIT** I'd pre order a S302 and S312 in the SSR livery if train-o-rama had produced it. I'd maybe get a second S312 in the railpower livery if they offered that as well. I'd probably need a few beers first before buying all 3 on preorder but my collection feels incomplete without them.

    Excellent video! We are now spoiled for choice, in ready to run models of Australian prototype. My most recent might be regarded as a strange purchase. Experimenting with finer scale track. HO scale code 70 is still too heavy rail for sidings or branch lines in Victorian Railways in the late 1960's, early 1970's. Bought a length of code 55 N scale flex track. Regauged it to HO scale. (cut the sleepers up the middle, heavy ballasting holds the track at HO scale width and mostly disguises the smaller sleepers. Made the track into a loco ash dump siding, for when I eventually equip my layout with a steam loco. Almost all my rollingstock has finer scale wheels, and runs fine on the code 55. Hoping to make my proposed branch, to be added to the layout with code 55 track.

    If the Auscision N scale locomotives can match the running qualities of Kato and American ScaleTrains locomotives then I will be giving serious consideration to starting a Australian N gauge layout and selling of all my HO stock. It would be nice if Auscision were a bit more active on KZread with promotional videos of their various model releases and could show the running and sound qualities of their N scale locomotives before the order forms become available. Really hope the N scale venture for Auscision is successful and provides Aussies a reliable and viable alternative to HO Scale especially for modeller's in smaller houses or apartments.

  • @WillJamesRailways

    @WillJamesRailways

    Yeah i mean that's a bit of an unfair comparison, aside from scale, the Japanese market is a lot bigger than ours, similar comparisons can be made between Us or Uk brands vs ours. But, same things, they produce a lot more with more people buying them. I do wonder how Auscisions N scale prices will stack up against the international companies however I feel it'll be the same as in HO Scale.

    @@WillJamesRailways for the cost of a 4 car Harris, I can get in Japanese N a full 8 car EMU formation plus an add on 4 car set, each set will have a motor and working directional lights at each drivers cab. But depending on the manufacturer, it will be either DIY numbers and destro boards or fixed factory applied numbers and boards. Heck I can even get a full 16 car N gauge Shinkansen for that and have actually almost paid close to that for a second-hand 30 year old 8-car Shinkansen from a certain local train store that offers used gear along side used (someone must have rooked them when they traded it to them).

    The railways started discussing a national coding system in the late sixties , probably in anticipation of more through running in 1970 when all state capital cities would be connected to standard guage. Took until about 1978 to start being applied gradually the in earnest.for bogie rolling stock. Intially it followed as per this : First letter is the owning system: eg V - Victorian Railways. Second letter is the car type, and I think that this is where the question was pointed. B=Boxcar C=Cattle Car (ANR) or Coil Steel (all other systems except VR) F=Flatcar (and coil steel, VR only) G=Grain Hopper (?NSW only) H=Hopper K=Steel traffic (introduced 1990s) L=Louvre van M=Motor Car wagon O=Open wagon P=Pneumatic discharge hopper (Vic only), cement hopper (other systems) Q=Container wagon R=Reefer S=Sheep wagon (ANR only) or livestock generally (other systems) T=Tank wagon V=Brakevan W=Well wagon Z=Special Wagon (NSW only) The third letter is a wagon type identifier The last letter WAS for bogie type A=Slow (Plain bearing) W=Low level X=bogie eXchangable Y=Fast (Roller bearing), not exchangable PY as the last two letters on VR and ANR indicated availability for passenger trains. However some refinements over time since with new operators and wagon types.
