I had an opportunity to visit the Herat Citadel several times during 2006 thru 2008. It was basically in shambles back then due to the Russian occupation, and the Taliban after the Russians left. Unesco was in the process of restoring the Citadel from 2006 to 2011. By the looks of your video, they did a good job on their restoration. I wonder what happened to the homeless dogs who used to live there?

You are very brave visiting Afghanistan after the war! I wish I had enough money and was brave enough to visit Herat!

There was some repair done to it so it will not fall but the original building and bricks has been there for thousands of years now...

Man you just missed to see an ancient Synagogue just after the sign board of Hurum Sira. The repaired first door at 1:10 is the gateway. 😊
