    Hello, I'm Colombian but I am also a resident from the United States, I have a green card but I don't have an american passport because I'm not a citizen yet, can I still apply for the ETA visa? the embassy told me I could apply, but how are they going to know I'm an american resident if they don't ask for that information, just passport details. It would be awesome if you can help me

    Hi @danielorozco5681 - what a great question! 1. I've looked on the Australian Government Home Affairs Page to see if South America/Colombia fall within the "ETA eligible passport holders list" - if South America comes under "United States of America" then you can apply, HOWEVER, I'm doubting that it does and I couldn't find any further information on the website to aid in answering your question. On the other hand, I'm guessing that if the embassy advised you to apply, then they know what they're talking about. 2. If that's not of much comfort, I found that iVisa have some information on their website that you might find very helpful "Australia Visitor Visa for Colombian citizens: Everything you need to know". Here's the link: www.ivisa.com/australia/blog/australia-visitor-visa-for-colombian-citizens#:~:text=In%20addition%20to%20being%20a,including%20health%20and%20character%20criteria. they announced that the borders will open up soon! so just a question, lets say they announce that the borders will open march 15 for example. Would we be able to apply for the ETA visa before the actual date of the borders opening in order to travel (once the borders are finally open)? or would we need to wait till the borders are actually open and THEN apply? thanks in advance

    Hi @abrar ahmed , this is what it says on the Dept of Home Affairs (DHA) page in quotations and my thoughts are below that marked with an asterisk: "Australia has strict border measures in place to protect the health of the community. You can still apply for a visa to visit Australia, but you may not be able to enter Australia at this time." * This tells me I can apply for a visa now, BUT if it is approved I wont be able to enter Australia til the Border is open. "Check the latest information about travel restrictions and international safe travel zones." * If I am exempt from the travel restrictions and within the safe travel zones - I can apply to enter Australia if I meet the following criteria as per the DHA page which stipulates: "Fully vaccinated Australian citizens, permanent residents and eligible visa holders can travel to and from Australia without needing to apply for a travel exemption. Immediate family members of Australian citizens, permanent residents or New Zealand citizens usually resident in Australia who do not hold an eligible visa must provide proof of relationship before travel by submitting an exemption request through the Travel Exemption Portal. All other temporary visa holders seeking to travel to Australia must apply for a travel exemption." *The travel zones as per DHA includes "Japan, Singapore, NZ, South Korea" "Some travellers can apply for an ETA using the Australian ETA app. For more information, see our Step by step guide". * As per the DHA website, the travellers who can apply using the ETA include those with a passport from the following: Brunei; Canada; Hong Kong (SAR of China); Japan; Malaysia; Singapore; South Korea; and the United States of America "You cannot apply for an ETA online, or through an agent or airline at this time." * Everyone else that does not meet the above criteria, wont be able to apply online, or through an agent or airline yet ... However, with the announcement that the Border's may be opening soon - maybe the 'Can't apply ... at this time' has passed? "If you are unable to use the app, you can apply online through ImmiAccount for another visa that suits your needs. European passport holders may be eligible for an eVisitor (subclass 651)." * Personally if I don't meet the above criteria - I would apply online through my ImmiAccount for the ETA. If the application wont let me progress - then I'll at least know the 'Can't apply ... at this time' still stands. However, I would try every day until I get through or look out for when I can apply for the ETA through the App as it sounds like a faster way to submit the Australian ETA visa application. I don't speak on behalf of the DHA, that's just what I would do personally. As always - you'll be better off contacting DHA directly to seek further clarification on your query. immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601? covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/travel-restrictions covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/international-safe-travel-zones immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#HowTo @abrar ahmed, sorry for the long winded answer. Hope that helped you in some small way and wishing you all the best! Hope you're able to travel to Australia as soon as the Border's are open! 😊

But again it still did not approved as quickly as my dad's. Should my mum wait for few more days as it is the weekend at the moment, or to reapplied the whole thing again?

    Hi @ivan chow - here's what it says on their website: After you apply: In most cases, you will be notified of the result of your ETA application immediately. Sometimes there will be a delay (of up to 12 hours) before receiving your notification. Check your emails, including your junk mail folder, for a written notification from us. Your application might take longer to process if: * you don't fill it in correctly * we need more information from you * it takes us time to verify your information immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#HowTo From memory I recall reading somewhere that it says dont reapply as it can cause further delays. Hi Helen! I have a question in regards to eVisitor visa I’m hoping you can help me out with! So I’m planning to stay in Australia for three months, visiting my friends, sightseeing, etc. I have saved up enough through the years (since the border was closed for a while) and would love to visit New Zealand for a few days and come back for another three months. I understand that my eVisitor visa is valid for a year (it’s valid until Feb next year) and allows multiple visits that can’t be longer than 3 months, but is there any rules in regards to how long I have to leave the country? Would leaving Australia for a weekend long trip to New Zealand before coming back be fine? I can’t find any information on this anywhere. Thank you so much!

    Hi @Anja Cota - I'm no visa expert at all - here's what I've found: *Electronic Travel Authority - Subclass 601* Visit Australia as often as you wish in a 12-month period. Stay up to 3 months each time you enter Australia. Visitor visas that have multiple entries also have a maximum period of stay for each visit you make to Australia. *How do I reset my stay period?* For example, your visa may be granted with 12 months validity and a 3 month stay period; this means that once you enter Australia you can stay up to 3 months. You will need to depart Australia before your 3 month stay period ends to prevent your visa ceasing. You can continue to arrive and depart in the same way any time prior to the validity of your visa ceasing. Check the stay period on your current visa using VEVO. For some visa types the stay period is standardised, for others, the stay period will be tailored to your circumstances. For more details, explore visa options. If you would like to stay longer than your current visa allows, you will need to apply for another visa. immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#About @Anja Cota - I used the digital assistant at the bottom right of the page on the link above where it says: 'ask a question'. I would contact them directly to see whether flying to NZ and re-entering Australia from NZ counts as restarting your 3 month stay in Australia again. Sorry I couldn't be of more help @Anja Cota - all the best, you take care and safe travels. 🙏😊

    So the ETA will grant me access into Australia correct? Without the need of any other type of visa? How does that work through immigrations? Do I show them the ETA on my phone? Or do I need to print out the "certificate"?

  • @HelenHotaiFormHelpFounder

    Hi @Bottom Spazz - this is what it says on the Home Affairs website: *WITH THIS VISA YOU CAN* Travel to Australia: - as a tourist - for example, to cruise or have a holiday - to visit family or friends - as a business visitor You can study or train for up to 3 months in total on this visa. If your main reason for travelling to Australia is to study, you should apply for a student visa. *HOW LONG YOU CAN STAY* This is a temporary visa. It is valid for travel to Australia for either 12 months, or for the period your passport is valid, whichever is shorter. The visa is granted with multiple entry. You can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you want while it is valid. *You can remain in Australia for 3 months after each entry.* If you stay in Australia for long periods or make frequent visits to Australia, we may ask you about your travel purpose next time you enter Australia. If you are found not to be a genuine visitor, your ETA may be cancelled. If you want to stay longer than 3 months at a time, you need to apply for a different visa that suits your circumstances. The visa starts on the date it is granted unless you hold another substantive visa that is in effect. *PROCESSING TIMES* In most cases, you will be notified of the result of your ETA application immediately. Your application might take longer to process if: - you don't fill it in correctly - we need more information from you - it takes us time to verify your information - Processing time for this visa is not available. If you have a criminal conviction in any country, we will need more information from you. You should apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) and provide evidence about your criminal convictions. *VISA LABEL* We will digitally link your visa to your passport. You will not get a label in your passport. Your ETA is attached to your current passport. If your current passport expires or you get a new passport: - your ETA will cease - you must apply for a new ETA immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#About Hope that helps to answer your queries, all the best and take care. 🙏🙂

Now, I haven't actually looked at the e-visa 651 - but I will look at doing a tutorial on it in the very near future - I'll 'try' my best to have it up by the end of next week. 2. I'm 'assuming' that for the "evidence of planned activities" and I'm just going off what you can do with this visa eg: (a) *visit family or friends* - maybe letter from family/friends to verify that you're travelling to visit/spend time with them? (b) *cruise or have a holiday* - evidence of the cruise under your name/ or an invoice with pre-booked accomodation by yourself or a family/friend? (c) *undertake business visitor activities* - evidence that you're attending a conference for work, or itinerary of what the business activity is? (d) *study or train for up to 3 months, in some circumstances* - evidence of an invoice or letter from training organisation confirming that you're booked in and attending whatever training you're attending? immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/evisitor-651 Hope that was of some help @Jan Hepworth - all the best and I'll try to get that tutorial up. 😊🙏

    Hi @Kevin Ucci - that is very unfortunate! I imagine it will cause some delays. The only thing I can suggest is that she contact them ASAP and let them know that she has made an error in her application - in that she accidentally checked that she has a criminal conviction. If she doesn't have a criminal conviction/record - she needs to include and explain that in her communications, whether that be over the phone or via email. Hopefully she'll hear back from then soon and they'll give her instructions on how to progress her application from there. All the best @Kevin Ucci - hope it all works out in your sister's favour. Hello @thetlay5512 Great question! It really depends on what you plan to do while you're visiting Australia. 1. If you want to explore your visa options then click the link below: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder (a) If you select *Visit and Tourism* you will be asked for the *Purpose of your visit* (b) Based on your reply to the next questions - you will be given a list of visa's you are eligible to apply for 2. For the ETA, click on the link below: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601 (a) You need to be a ETA-eligible passport holder to apply for the ETA using the Australian ETA App (your passport needs to be from an eligible country listed on their website) (b) You can *stay* up to *3 months* at a time with the ETA (You may be granted a stay of *3, 6 or 12 months*) (c) You can use this visa to *visit family or friends, go on a cruise or have a holiday, undertake business or visitor activities* (d) You must *apply from outside Australia, have an eligible passport, use the Australia ETA App, watch the ETA Video Guides* on their website (e) In most cases you will be notified of the result of your ETA application immediately. Your application may take longer if you do not complete the application process correctly or we require further information. We recommend that you apply well ahead of when you want to travel. (f) *Cost* AU$190.00 Hope that information will help you to make a decision to best suit your circumstances. All the best, hope it all works out for you - and have an amazing stay in Australia when you visit! 👍🙂🙏

  • @HelenHotaiFormHelpFounder

    @HelenHotaiFormHelpFounder

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi! @Weloveourbees bees To be honest - I am not sure. However see the link below to see if the information provided answers your query: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#HowTo 1. If you see under 'Step 2 - Apply for the Visa' you'll see it takes you through a step by step guide on how to apply for the ETA To apply for an ETA using the Australian ETA app, you need to have: - A mobile device camera enabled which can take your photo and an image of the Passport data page - Near-field communication (NFC) enabled on your mobile device - Location services enabled on your mobile device - A valid email address - A valid payment method ready to pay the service fee 2. You'll also notice that you are required to: scan your passport to pre-fill your name, date of birth, passport number and other details 3. If you don't have a chip - I would 'try' scanning my passport anyway knowing that it's going to fail to read anything in the hope that it will then ask me to fill in my details manually 4. If it doesn't allow you to fill in your details manually; THEN 5. It does suggest the following: *If you are ineligible or unable to apply for an ETA using the Australian ETA app, you can apply online for another visa that suits your needs through ImmiAccount.* - European passport holders may be eligible for an eVisitor (subclass 651) visa. There is no charge to make an eVisitor application. - Other passport holders may be eligible for a Visitor (subclass 600) visa. 6. Another option: You can get help from a friend or family member to apply through the app. *Authorised travel agents can also make an ETA application on your behalf using the app.* If an agent makes the application on your behalf, you must still be physically present when they make the application. You will need to have your photo taken and have your passport available for scanning. Hope that's of some help. You take care, all the best and I hope you're successful in getting your visa. 🙏🙂

If not maybe reach out and ask for an update and explain to them your situation and your daughter having her first child etc ... maybe that'll help to move things along. 4. They also don't give a time frame on their website as to how long it takes to process the 601 - whereas other visa's they do - I'm not sure why they don't have a time frame for the 601 - it creates a lot of uncertainty for people who are waiting and a lot of stress. I hope you get your visa soon cause as for me and most of my Malaysian compatriots, we are looking at maybe 2 months. I wanted to visit my wife there but i guess that's not happening anytime soon.

    Hi! @Rotterdam NL - short answer, hopefully from From 21 February 2022, all visa holders who are fully vaccinated for international travel purposes can travel to Australia without a travel exemption. Unvaccinated visa holders will still need to be in an exempt category or hold an individual travel exemption to enter Australia. The following passport holders can apply for an ETA using the Australian ETA app: Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong (SAR of China), Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States of America. For more information, see our Step by step guide. *The ETA app will be expanded to all ETA-eligible passport holders from April 2022.* If you are unable to use the app, you can apply online through ImmiAccount for another visa that suits your needs. European passport holders may be eligible for an eVisitor (subclass 651). You cannot apply for an ETA online, or through an agent or airline at this time, unless the application is lodged via the ETA app. immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601 Hope that helps @Rotterdam NL - all the best when you apply for the ETA in August! 😊🙏

The only other thing I can recommend is that you make use of the *feedback tab* at the bottom of the page to let them know that you weren't able to correct the information you had submitted. Hi! @AgesWith0ut - 1. Are you able to access your application through the app? 2. If so - go through, maybe look at the top or on the last page for a reference number? 3. *Reply to them on the email they sent you* and explain to them that you're not sure where to find your reference number. Ask them if they let know where to find it as you've tried looking but you can't find it. 4. Is there an option through the App for you to send in an enquiry about your ETA? 5. If there is a option to contact them via email or phone - contact them to let them know your dilemma; 6. Did they say what the extra information was that you needed to provide? 7. Also check your spam in case they've sent you other emails which have your reference number on it. 8. Also when googling the ETA - I saw that there's a lot of dodgy websites out there offering to help you get your visa - be very wary that you don't get scammed, always go to the official Australian Govt websites and the ones you know and trust. Here's what it says on the ETA website: VISA OUTCOME: After you have lodged your ETA application we will *send you a written advice by email.* The written advice might: - notify you that your ETA has been granted. We will also tell you your visa grant number, the date your visa starts and your visa conditions. - advise you that your application cannot be processed or approved without further information - If your application cannot be processed or approved without further information: - you can apply for another visa that is suitable for your travel needs: explore your visa options - you can contact an Australian Visa Office and provide information so we can consider whether you are eligible for an ETA. Your notification letter will tell you how you can contact an office. - do not submit further ETA applications. You will see the same results. - If we refuse your ETA we will let you know by email. We will tell you why we refused and whether you have a right to a review of the decision. The service charge will not be refunded if your application is not successful. ALSO FYI - I don't how relevant this is to you: *The ETA app will be expanded to all ETA-eligible passport holders from April 2022.* immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#HowTo @AgesWith0ut - I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
