Australia Working Holiday - Expectations vs Reality - backpacking, farm work, things you should know
Hi guys,
Follow me on Instagram: / marccarva
Here are some links for you to have a look before deciding to move to Australia.
The 2 visas I mention in the video are by far the easiest ones for young people to have an Australian experience.
It could also mean you'd be able to get a job in a company for 6 months that could potentially sponsor a permanent visa for you like what happened in my case with with so many others every year.

This was a really enjoyable watch - Currently deciding on whether I work in NZ or Oz in 2022. I'm also considering working as an AU pair as it's guaranteed work, accommodation is included and the locals will teach you far more than you could ever uncover on your own. :)

Thanks mate! :). Au pair jobs are always great if you're good with children, I totally recommend it! I know of a few people here working as nannies and have relatively comfortable stress free lives. And yes, usually the families include them in many activities and show a different side of Australia that perhaps only the locals know.

Oh I see... are you still under 31 years old? If so, you can apply for a visa waiver so that you can reapply and enter Australia next year. If you’re older, you can apply for a visa cost refund but unfortunately not enter Australia under the working holiday visa anymore :(. This might be a stupid question, but where do you stay with these jobs? Did they cover accommodation or did you stay in a hostel while working?

Sounds like you made a mistake by not settling down in Cairns? Do you plan to return to the tourist industry?
Do you have to backpack or can you just stay in the same area and work throughout the time

You’re free to do whatever you want. Backpacking is not a requirement. It’s just that this visa is a favourite for travellers/backpackers or used as a first step into the country by people wanting to move permanently to Australia.

Great video, thank you! Do you know if Australia will be opening it's borders for international travel for WHV before 2024? I am worried about missing the age cut off!

At the moment the border is preducted to open around March or April of 2022. However, our vaccine roll-out is painfully slow ( only 3.8 mill vaccinated so far), so I think we probably won't have opened borders until at least end of 2022. No-one can promise you this, and n-oone can advise you, because we will not know until the Federal Government says so ( and of course it can still change). But what I can say is, if you are not already, get vaccinated, this may be a rule to come in in future and keep an eye on Australian news ( best site to follow abc.net.au ).good luck

Hi, you helped me a lot with this video, I only have one question, if I wanted to stay more in the country, without renewing the working and holiday visa, can I apply for a student visa? Therefore, just twelve months of working holiday
@marccarva
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Raphael, I’m happy that my video helped you in some way or another. Yes, you can then apply for a student visa and stay longer in Australia, however, be careful with the application requirements of that new student visa, because if I remember correctly, for some visas you have to exit the country to apply from outside Australia. Maybe a flight and short holiday in Bali could do...

i got few questions to ask? 1. can the application get denied for expired passport 2. having a medical card is a must while in Aus ..
@marccarva
3 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, you must have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity at the time of application. 2. Yes, you need to have some sort of health insurance whilst in Australia. It’s not something the authorities proactively check when you’re here but if you have an accident and need hospital treatment your bill might be astronomical!

I started on a WHV and am now sponsored but many of my friends are on a WHV. The ones that managed to secure a job, especially in construction, farming and other handy man jobs are safe and making money. On the other hand I also know of people who were working in retail and hospitality, who are now jobless and struggling to find work in those fields. Temporary lockdowns and border closures are still a reality but seems like remote work like farming is still thriving.

Yes, I have a friend on the WHV right now who never runs out of work even during covid! It’s incredible, but only because he’s flexible with the location. He’s always in remote areas and willing to do any jobs. Then after saving up he comes to the cities.
