Australia Flags Chinese Bid To Block Journalist During Premier Li's Visit, Beijing Says "Don't Know"
Australia voiced concern about the "ham-fisted" actions of two Chinese diplomats at a media event inside the Parliament during Chinese Premier Li Qiang's visit. Chinese officials were accused of blocking Australian journalist Cheng Lei as Australian PM Anthony Albanese and the Chinese premier signed agreements on June 17. The bizarre incident was caught on camera with Australian officials trying to stop their Chinese counterparts from obstructing Cheng's view. At one point Cheng jokingly swapped seats with another journalist , which prompted Chinese officials to reposition to hinder her view, Australia’s ABC news reported. Meanwhile, The Chinese foreign ministry denied knowledge of any incident involving Australian journalist Cheng Lei in Canberra.

How in the world, the Chinese officials can dictate freedom of speech and free press on Australian 🇦🇺 soil?

Freedom of the press is important to Australia except when it comes to protecting its own citizen, Julian Assange.
Cant remember Australia being all mad about Julian Assange their own citizen being locked up for years

Old news. Chinese PM already in Malaysia.
China needs to complete the following steps for Australia 🇦🇺 to normalize the relationship with that regime: - release remaining arbitrarily detained Australian citizens, - cooperate with WHO to study further into the Wuhan outbreak, - lift import restrictions on Australian wine, lobsters and beef, - respect international laws in the South and East China Sea, - fix its human rights issues in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong, - stop interfering with Taiwan's internal affairs.
Proud of how fellow Aussie journalists helped out Cheng Lei. However Albanese and Wong's constant kowtowing is extraordinarily disappointing. They must stand up for Australian democracy.
once again Albo Turned dropped his shorts and bent over and braces him self 😂😂😂 and said I hope you noticed this is my style 😂😂

Shocking that the Chinese Spokesperson completely ignored the blocking of the Journalist when the incident is on camera and both the man and woman physically told the Australian Journalist to move. Yes Mr. Albanaese/Wong's bootlicking of the Chinese is sickening.
Don't thanjs me, you ask for it working as a running dog.
Grubby China again!!
The Chinese government could do something like this to an Australian journalist on Australian 🇦🇺 soil. I wonder what the authoritarian surveillance regime can do *to hide the truths from reaching its citizens.*
Australia's double standards always come to the surface. If only this country fought for the freedom of Julian Assange as it did for the likes of Cheng Lei.

Really show the intelligence of most. Cheng Li was innocent on trumped up charges. Assange is guilty of breaking another countries secrecy laws full stop end of story, even if let out some we all should know. now if we let Assange go and catch Chinese or other spies doing same in Australia we will look hypocritical then would we not..

CCP are still spying in the West even today.

Australians don’t realise what is the big picture , rather focus on personal ego tripping of an individual who they want portray as an example of Australia’s value of independence. To the Chinese, Cheng Li, is a traitor and Australia has to respect that , even if they don’t agree. Diplomacy is about accommodating differences to achieve the bigger objectives for the greater well being of the whole nation. Australians often focus on minor features and miss the big picture.
Australia is always accusing other countries of lack of freedom, but never looks at itself. Get over it Albenese, it is just a squabble amongst journalists 😊. In fact Western journalists are amongst the most ill mannered in the world. What they write though is tightly controlled by the owners of Western media. It is far from being a free media. Anyway first fix up the plight of the homeless Albenese this is of critical importance, it's vital for the well-being of our people
