Oooh, close, I hope it's just ignition and not valve timing related, that would be a big job! I would be a bit worried about bending a throttle shaft with those backfires! I'm sure you'll get it sorted, the ecu and software is all "dutch" to me! Thanks for sharing the bad and the good of your builds! Cheers! Graham.

One of these days i'll have an engine that just starts right from the beginning after a rebuild, (lets see with the next 2 8 port builds coming up..) but I think it'll be more luck than management!! The bodies seem ok so far, and balance between all cylinders is good, which i think gets mentioned next week. The ECU is easy, just thing of of it as swinging your dizzy and changing needles/jets by pressing a button :) At the end of the day the game is the same, get a spark, air and fuel to mix at the right quantities, at the right time!

You gotta love an A'series that wants to play you for a while.

Enjoying these vids. Which DTA unit are you running? Would love to see more of the map programing and setup stuff.

It's dta S40 on the green 8 port and S60 pro on the yellow 8 port. We also have an 8 port on emerald k6 , a VTEC on k6 and a xe on dta E48 (ancient but does all it needs to)

@@MiniPerformance Nice stuff! Back in the day, about 18 years ago, I bought a homemade progamable ignition unit for my 1380. Ford coil pack and an thin disc with a gap atached to bottom pully. Cant remember the name of the unit. I wonder if I still have th software on an old harddrive someware. Never got round to tuning it on a rolling road though. Maybe I'll buy back the mini rom the guy I sold it to, I just been sitting in his barn.

@@MiniPerformance I've just bough back my old car. A bit of work needed. It was a first gen Polestar. Polestar have sent me the old software so when I get a USB to Serial lead, will set it up again. Need to find / make a base map to work from.

That tune playing at 4:10 ... Who is that, I would like to know - it caught my ear...
