Austin St. John Enters Plea Agreement for Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud - Plea Hearing Tomorrow

Ойын-сауық

In a shocking turn of events, Austin St. John, the beloved actor who brought the iconic Red Power Ranger to life, is facing potential jail time for wire fraud. Despite his respectful interactions with fans, including our Power Rangers news page, we have a responsibility to report on this news. According to court documents from the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas Sherman Division, St. John has entered into a plea agreement with the United States government on May 1, relating to charges of "Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud" under 18 U.S.C. $ 1349. This development comes after St. John's arrest on May 19, 2022, for allegedly fraudulent Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans totaling up to $421,000. Initially, he had pleaded "not guilty" to the charges, but it appears that he has since changed his plea. The court documents outline the essential elements required to prove the offense, including agreeing to commit wire fraud, knowing the unlawful purpose of the agreement, and joining the agreement with the intent to further the unlawful purpose. St. John's plea hearing is scheduled for Monday, May 6 at 2 PM CDT. It's important to remember that while we may love the character he played, we can still acknowledge and disapprove of Austin's actions. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments! I'm a fan of Austin. Always have, always will be, and I can't tell you the amount of shit I've been getting for it lately, particularly on Twitter/X. That being said, while I was rooting for him to be innocent and to beat this case, hearing this only makes me sad and disappointed in him. I still love the guy but I don't support what he's done, now that this news is out. I understand this is government money and that's something you don't mess with. However, because this is also a first-time offense for him, I don't believe he deserves prison time just for that reason but if he does, then let the chips fall where they may. I still don't think it's fair. He's not a horrible person like many in the fandom are tryna paint him right now and the fact that they're already celebrating this is absolutely sickening. But if he's got to pay the price somehow for his actions, so be it. Hopefully, this'll be a wakeup call for him to actually start humbling himself more. Money isn't everything and while I understand he was done dirty on the show because of the lack of pay for his hard work, I don't understand why you're still making that issue important 31-years later. What more could you ask for? I hope and pray Austin gets a slap on the wrist from all this and that he REALLY takes all the time necessary to seriously reflect from all this. Not only that but everyone that he's done business with that are also part of this scheme, he cuts automatic ties with them immediately; fire his agent, Zack McGuiness if he hasn't done so by now and anyone else who's been a poor influence on him. And most of all... never pull something like this stunt ever again! But if that's not an option and he DOES get prison time, well then it is what it is. I don't like this any more than the next person but actions have consequences.

He stole half a million dollars. If I stole a car, I'd get locked up. Jeez. Don't let blind fandom cause a moral injury to your soul. Don't lose your sense of justice just because you like someone. He knew what he was doing, planned it intricately, and stole your money. My money. Taxpayer money. I am sure you could have used some extra money during the pandemic, yet you didn't create false businesses, fake employees, and fake circumstances to defraud your fellow Americans of their hard earned money.

This is how I feel… I am disappointed about ASJ decisions. Yes, you got to separate the actor and the person. Because they are different. After JDF passing, you’ll think ASJ could be holding down the folk... Now, I question… What will Walter, Amy Jo, and David will do moving forward as the only OG left for the franchise? And thank you for being positive, and providing info with your opinions and allowing us debate about this topic through the comments. And the only person that should judge us as humans is god. COVID was tough. So many people died. But remember that money he stole was meant for families in need during COVID. Families that were actually struggling. It was meant to be spent on rent, mortgages, food, and bills. He bought a motorcycle and was caught. Everyone involved was caught because they spent money on personal items, not items that were needed to survive.
