That is not an issue of age. Disagreement with superiors happens across the age spectrum. Many adults who have done so have gone on to form unions, including one where my mother is a proud member. A few children who have done so against orders given on grounds more philosophical and less practical (e.g. Greta Thunberg) have gone on to achieve international fame. Some children may be supported by their parents/teachers in their disagreement with a higher authority such as their head of state.

Plus, if you're hired on a probationary contract, the district does NOT have to renew or offer you a permanent position. That's strike 2 against her. Been that way since I was a newbie in 1981. As a former high school teacher here, this demonstrates a HUGE problem in education now...lack of maturity and common sense of young people coming out of college who the public is expecting to teach their kids. And it doesn't matter if they are from liberal or conservative backgrounds either. Want to get OUTRAGED? Demand that our government make it easier for older, more mature people to get into teaching. There are lots of people in their 50's who could be wonderful teachers, but there is not an easy path to become a teacher. I had to pay $5000 out of my pocket to go through a program. There was no financial aid! And all that to get a temporary teaching job for a year that paid less than half what I used to make. How many people are willing or stupid enough to do what I did?

The whole idea of having a pledge of allegiance that school kids to stand up and drone to is wild to me in 2023. It has a totalitarian/1984 vibe to it...and I don't consider myself to not be a "patriotic" person. This whole idea of fighting for freedom seems lost on some people once they realize other people have the freedom to disagree.
