Perhaps the greatest musical satire ever composed. Grandiose in its ridiculousness. Ridiculous in its grandiosity. Expertly executed. I love the 1812 Overture, but this tops it.

Out of all renditions posted on KZread, this is far and away the best one. I appreciate that you took the slower tempo at the beginning. To play this piece well and do it justice, you need some players who fully appreciate that this work is no walk in the park. You certainly have that here. Kudos to all!

Masterful!!! PDQ Bach would have wondered how you got it to sound so good, and would probably have toasted each member of the orchestra, until he was too drunk to continue.

I liked it much more than the pompous, glamorous Tchaikovsky prototype. Bravo.

I like how this pokes fun at the stuffy pomp in aristocratic Russia

Peter Schickele wrote the piece. This is not an arrangement. It is the original 1712 Overture.

This sounds a little familiar. Too bad Bach didn't live longer - he could have composed more masterpieces like this one. He was WAY ahead of his time. It sounds so MODERN..... This must be a transcription of a work for strings because i know trombones and clarinets weren't around in Bach's time. (Why aren't the players wearing masks???)
